It's not impossible to kick a field goal this far. In-fact, on the lower levels this happens quite often. The only reason you don't see these attempts very often on TV is because of the liklihood of them being missed(which would give the opposing team excellent field position.)

Sabastian Janikowski made like an 81 yarder in high school if I am not mistaken. There are a lot of people who can make these types of kicks, it's just extremely rare to see it in a game.

Technically, tee or no tee, Abilene Christian College had a kicker by the name of Johansson in the 70's. He kicked a 69 yarder without a tee. Unfortunately, it's not an NCAA record, because at the time, Abilene Christian wasn't a member of the NCAA

@FountainOFun It's not a "tee" like what you're thinking of. It's a little block with a hole in it; the holder gets the ball and puts the end in the hole. It gives the kicker a nice stable platform to kick off. I'm not dissing this kid, it's a helluva kick by any standard. He's got a shot to play on Sundays someday if he stays with it and doesn't get hurt.
