If you're looking to carve at lower speeds, keep your trucks top mounted and it'll be a bit easier. If you want just a carving and cruising board then you may also want to take a look at our Pintail series.

Hi, I've been looking for a longboard for quite sometime now, so I decided to come here. I'm a small guy, 5'1 and a little over 100 pounds. I looked at the Pintail 43 and decided i did't want it. I rode my friends Torpedo 40 a couple days ago and I really liked it. I'm looking for a board that I can have fun cruising around with my friends on. @XiiTriggerx the Torpedo 40 and Malakai 40 are very similar! They are both pretty flexy and are great for carving around! You may also want to check out the Pintail 37 and 40. The Pintails are a bit stiffer, and lower to the ground, giving you more stability for hills and cruising.

@HippiieH it's really personal preference. The 37 is a bit lighter and shorter, making flatland freestyle easier for some riders. The 40 has kicks and comes in two different concaves, so it may be a bit more versatile and is also better for heavier riders who want to do freestyle.

I have watched just about every single one of your videos on youtube. I currently have a cruiser and am going to upgrade in March to a longboard. I want to be able to slide/cruise and learn tricks. I have been looking at the apex 40 double concave...what do you recommend for my first longboard?

@indiesk8rlad The Apex 40 DC is a great all around board, especially for freestyle, sliding, and just cruising around. The kicks will help you while learning freestyle, and the double concave will lock your feet comfortably into the deck while you learn to slide. If you put Original S8s with red medium tension springs this board turns into a really fun cruising and carving board as well.

@indiesk8rlad the original comment guy said to put s8's on the board. DONT. My friend had them, and the springs are crap. He would always be turning slightly to one direction, even when he didn't want to be. I would reccomend just going with some good old randal 180s, with real bushings instead of crappy springs.

@Unw1nd1ng your friend may have had a broken wave cam from not lubing them up or from over tightening the trucks. Or, he may not have had the right tension spring for him. He could call us or email us and we'll help him out to get his trucks working right again. Randal trucks are good too, however, they're made for a completely different type of riding.

@thatsaloangboard1111 The Freeride 38 with rocker will be a bit more stiff so it's more stable during DH. It also has taller nose and tail kicks for freestyle riding, and gas pedals for freeriding. I think the Freeride 38 would be a nice upgrade from the super shaka if you're looking to stick with freeriding. If you are interested in doing more freestyle and some freeriding then you may also want to check out the Apex 40 with double concave.

@fitgiu there are 4 different pintails. The pintail 37, Pintail 40, Pintail 43, and Pintail 46. The numbers are the lengths of the boards in inches. The Pintail 37 and Pintail 40 are made with 7 plys of wood, and the Pintail 43 and Pintail 46 are made with 9 plys of wood
