  • Cyanotypes use a solution which contains cyanide, thus the name cyanotype.

It uses: Ammonium iron(III) citrate: Potassium ferricyanide.

  • The peroxide is just a speeding process. The print will naturally turn dark blue as it dries.

  • yup your right it has cyano is not cyanide. It's the color cyan, but id does give off hydrogen cyanide gas. If you ever took a alternative process class, you will be warned about it. Plus if it mixes with a VanDyke mixture you could die.

  • Good stuff - I'll pass this along to all my newsletter subscribers.

  • great for kids? that's poisonous

  • LOL

  • hint the name cyano (cyanide)

  • I wasnt making fun of you. The guy saying that 'this is great for the kids' made me laugh

  • i didn't think you were making fun of me.. yah that made me laugh too cuz my professor says. don't let kids play with these chemicals.

  • From greek kyanos it just means "blue" and has nothing to do with poison, compare cyanos.

  • Bullshit, has nothing to do with cyanide (except you mix with very very strong acid) (And since when kids have had them?)
