Germany has some great satirical/political shows/revues. And some very funny comedians. But the most popular ones aren't necessarily the best.

I don't think the humor of British people and Germans is very different. You can see it by the fact that British comedy is very popular in Germany. For example Monty Python.

Some of the jokes just won't work in the other country because of the linguistical barriere or the differences between the current local events and problems.
