  • us Aussie/Espanol/Chilenos call them SOUTH AMERICAN MEAT PIE!!! YUM YUM

  • yes, It looks nice but this is not the original recipe for empanadas , colombian empanadas don't contain rice!! and black pepper or any spices, that is why we make AJI. BUT IS NICE TO SEE A NICE LADY LIKE YOU DOING A NICE TYPICAL COLOMBIAN FOOD.

  • The girl is nice. she has all the good intention but those empanadas don't have much of latin empanadas.

Way too much spices and the fill it's no the best. Try the chilean, peruvian, argentinans empanadas. They are the best and the most delicious and more simple

  • great vid! mmmm delicious

  • why do those discs seem so orange? My friend is puerto rican, she makes delicious empanadas but the discs are a bit lighter, not orange like those. Does that matter at all?

i really want to lear to cook these :P

  • No not really. it can be one of two things. One they didn't fry them as long, two it was homemade dough. Of course the homemade dough will make a difference in taste but not by much. Hope this helps.

  • I´m getting hungry lol! thanks for sharing!

  • Pico de gallo isnt Puerto Rican or Colombian or South American

  • the south america pico de gallo is made with red and green peppers instead of jalapenos. thats the only difference

  • I loved the recipe and I already started using new ingredients. And as far as the negative comments, its called emvidia. You do your thing and let us enjoy your style!

  • That's mean.

  • 50unitedstates actually does have a good point.

  • If you're making a cooking video then why are you wearing some skimpy black outfit that you probably go out clubbing with???? LOL I'm 50/50 Mexican/American. I was married to a Puerto Rican and all she did was add that Sazon to everything. And, yes, it did make everything taste so great...UNTIL I read the ingredients: MONO SODIUM GLUTAMATE (MSG) Same stuff that people are trying to avoid in Chinese food. Using that is like cheating anyway.

  • puertorican and colombian the best of both worlds!!!

  • yes she has got an accent when she speaks in spanish (i know it because i used to be in spain often) but the spanish in latin america sounds different anyway. i understood everything she said, and it sounds sweet the accent though. i have to say it even i am female...:))

  • agree, i understood and i speak spanish. but the pretty spanish is spoken more n mexico..but they say us PR's r crazy talkers..but i think cubans have it bad

  • You're soo right!

  • sharpen your knives...

    otherwise, great show :)

  • pico de gallo o picadillo?

  • gotta love the sazon goya! I am Portuguese/Italian and I put it in EVERYTHING!

  • Very Good!! I made my peruvian empandas yesterday and it turn out that my dough was very hard when i took it out of the oven. Then i tried to make it thicker but it was still hard but not like before so i dont really know what i did wrong. BTW for Peruvian Empanadas i cook the aji panca, oregano, onions, garlic, salt, pepper, olive oil, ground beef, and cumin. Then add hard eggs, raisins, and black olives to the empanada dough

  • Well done!

  • well I have 5 lessons but I improve my english because I worked like waiter and I serve to americans and I have to understand them, and some neighbors were americans and I learn a few words =D today I study in american channels like AN CNN and reading youtube comments seee yaa

  • lolll..aww u remind me of some of my family members..they dont know english that well either, they speak spanish, i do to, but it took me a while to learn english to..especially how to say colors..i teaching my friends english right now

  • Ella habla el espanol muy bien y es muy bonita!

  • she made some mistakes but yes she is so beauty =d

  • lol I write this because there are a profile call it "mexicaninbelarus" he is white and he is disturbing my country he is mexican but he is like a kkk(that american ideas dont match with my homeland) and he said that the white ppl are more inteligent than the other colors and he is saying lies with mexican history and ppl from all the world is believing his shit see yaa

  • She was born in Puerto Rico, her mother is Colombian, and when she moved to the states, she had to take ESL classes (English as a Second Language), so that shows how much you obviously don't know. Before you judge someone, try thinking first.

Oh, and the empanadas are excellent.

    - Eric

  • if she learned ESL, then she would have had an accent when speaking English...which she doesnt....not be mean or racist..but i thought she was plain white.

  • thats because of her ancestors..i have 2 friends who r mexican one is light and one is dark..thats because the darker one has ancestors who mayans..but most (not all) colombians r light skin so ..lol i guess thats y u thought she was white all depends on bg

  • o ok

  • nice..& you are pretty huh!

  • This looks really delicious. Thank you for taking the time to post the recipe.

  • hehe your like a mini nigella lawson lol

    ^_^

  • ok u make it your way i make it mine

  • I've always said people should make things their way. I have no problem with that!

  • i think madeline knows what shes doing

  • ke xuxa?

  • Great Recipe. Getting hungry now. But before I leap into my fridge, is there a veggie substitution for these empanadas? I'm trying to impress a veggie girl.

  • Sure! You can leave out the meat altogether. You may need more seasoning in the mix, or you could try using something like the boca-crumbles. Those are a vegetarian meat substitute with a consistency like ground beef. Your local health food store may be able to help you modify the recipe, which can be downloaded from my website.

  • Thank you for producing and posting this it was great, as a student of spanish it was great to listen to some spanish and see a recipe for empanadas. I'm surprised that you can actually buy pre-made emapanada disks at supermarkets in the US. The fact that such specialised products are available obviously reflects the growing Latin American influence in the USA. I would love to see an episode on how to make sancocho con pollo, thanks again.

  • This looks so delicious! I didn't realize how easy salsa was to make..I will definitely give this a try, and I like that you used a portable burner (I have a very small kitchen).

  • Yes, salsa is crazy easy to make! Just be careful not to over-do the lime (unless you like lots of lime). :)

We use the burner because it's easier to shoot on the counter than squeeze by the stove! Works great and cost less than $20!

  • Cool^^ That looks good

  • I never thought about putting rice in my empanadas. Thanks for the tip!

Can you do rellenos de papas next? I can never get mine to come out quite right :)

  • We've got a bunch of pizza snack recipes coming up, and some special chocolate coverage, but that's a great idea!

  • sounds yummy

    :D

  • I would love it if there were the names & amounts of the ingredients at the bottom of the screen as oyu go through the recipe. What are the names of the two more "ethnic" : ) ingredients? Sofrito or something? & Sosagoya? help! LOL great video by the way.

  • That's something we got away from to help speed up post production, but it's something we'll consider doing again. In the meantime, if you go to our website (they won't let me enter it here), we have downloadable PDFs of out recipes. All you need is Adobe Reader. The website is in our profile, and you should look for the Show Notes section of the website.

  • after posting this comment I wento to the web site & found it & much more Thanks!!!!
