Interesting how England are good at youth tournenements cos they rely on power and pace when their players are in their prime, then Italy are poor cos they rely on strong defense and Catenacchio tactics and defenders don't hit their prime until their late 20's (learning proper positioning etc).

If you look at players like Jack Wilshere, Josh Mceachran and Ravel Morrison thy are all small players with loads of technique. More money is being put into club youth teams and the influence of foreign players and coaches has certainly helped. A new national football centre called St Georges Park is being developed modeled on the French one Clairefontaine. We are finally learning.
Wilshere looks pretty good. Still youth promise is one thing. I remember us Irish felt we had the best young players in Europe in 1998. Convincing u16, u18 Euro Champs, 3rd in World Cup u20s, players playing with the ballplaying skill & technique you wouldn't associate with an Irish team. And what came out of it in the end? Nothing, most of them never made it into top flight English football or the Irish senior team.

England won because of their superior size and physicality allowed them to finish their few attempts on goal. Good job to England for winning but they weren't the better team. I'm sure he'll stay at Ipswich for a couple more seasons, maybe help them get to the Premier League. As much as I'd love to see him at Liverpool, I don't think it'd be the best move for his career.

@tommydhammer man dont compare a team that is actually 5 in la liga to 15 in championchip, muniain is much superior, go watch a video of him and u will see, and barcelona and madrid are so dominant becouse there the two best teams in the world, dont think so? look at the champions leage results. and u use that money to buy foreigners because english players arent that good, while spanish teams dont need to, we got spanish players.

@tommydhammer yea, a modern day miracle. i want to see where these english players are in the future, at leats thre 0f these spanish players will make top clubs, the english team won because they were stronger, and sure that works in juniors, but in senior football, all the skill and tecnique of the spanish pays off.

@EnzoCheLatino you're right techniquly spain are better BUT england have learnt form their mistakes and some real good players have recently come through. This munian looks a good striker and england have the likes of wilshere, mcearchan, henderson who are techniquly just as good as any spanish player. The spanish will dominate whilst iniesta, xavi are around but i believe that england could win something with this new batch of players.

@EnzoCheLatino Henderson is not all that, but there are a few teams: Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd, Aston Villa who are producing youngsters who play like these Spanish players, the results will be seen in the next 5-10 years.
Wilshre n Mcearchran are just the first few.

"Almost" being the key word there because if you actually watched the match you'd know Spain dominated the play. England won because of their superior size and physicality allowed them to finish their few attempts on goal. Good job to England for winning but they weren't the better team. Paco from Valencia was easily the player of the tournament.

@Guess10000 No Spain did not dominate the play. Whilst they had more of the ball, England had just as many opportunities and could have won by more, just as Spain could have drawn or won the game. Gerard was awesome in the final minutes though.

I'm sure he'll stay at Ipswich for a couple more seasons, maybe help them get to the Premier League. As much as I'd love to see him at Liverpool, I don't think it'd be the best move for his career.

Nice to see our Super Conors goal didn't get a replay! He is one to watch for the future, and hopefully that will be at Ipswich, as he's the only forward we've got!! Chopra & Wickham up front would tear the Championship to shreds! pull your finger out Mr Evans! Darren Bent was an up and coming superstar from our stables, but it just goes to show, sign for the wrong club...... Although I still rate him highly!
