We are so lucky to be living in the same time-frame as her. They hand out Olympic skating medals every 4 years, but only once in human history will there ever be the Midori Ito of the triple axel. She should compete in the Olympics again just to teach young skaters a lesson. OLD SCHOOL!!!
With her enormous talent, I wouldn't be surprised if we see her landing triple jumps again soon. She is a LEGEND in figure skating, and it is so great to see her back.
WOW, I had no idea she was back competing at the adult level! This is wonderful. And she has that joyous quality that made the world fall in love with her back in the 80's!!!!! I will always love her :) Thanks so much for posting!
That double axel was huge!! She is so legendary for coming back after 15 years. Being the first woman to land triple axels, and a legendary jumper. It's awesome and fresh to see an Olympian back on the ice competing. Even if she isn't an Olympic Gold Medalist, she and other skaters who didn't win, are worth watching even more. Goes to show you're never too old to lace them back in.
I find her so enchanting. Her obvious joy of skating is beyond rules or scoring systems.

コールされただけでの大歓声、ジャンプに入る前の助走のスピードに、入り方に、高さ、早いスピン、何よりステップの時のチャーミングな笑顔、とても15年振りの競技会出場とは思えないです。 未だに世界中の人の記憶に残されていて、愛され続けていて、周囲の人を気遣い、人々に感動や癒しや励みを与えてくれるみどりちゃんは素敵です。 マスコミさん達はこれを大きく取り上げたらよいのに。 きっと今の日本には良い影響を与えるものだと思うけど。
