  • Guys I done this for a project and it wasn't really meant for public viewing, YouTube was the easiest way for me to embed videos into Html.

that's ok but you should get the terms right anyway. You should actually try a 10farad cap now.

  • They are cool though arent they!

  • that cap is probably measured in micro Farads, with the greek m preceeding the word Farads.

A 1 Farad Cap is usually 12 inches high and about 3~5 inches in diameter; cylinder shaped. What you have there is approx, 10000 micro farads or 10 milli Farads... To reach 1 Farad you would need to put another 990 of those capacitors in parallel. To reach 10 Farads, you would need 9,990 of those capacitors. 10 Fardads equals to 10,000,000 micro Farads; yours is 10,000 micro Farads only.

That's not true. There are tons of 5.5v 1F super caps that are coin sized. I have some 400f 2.7v caps that are one inch in diameter, and 1.5 inches long. The voltage ratings are extremely small, but they can hold TONS of power =)

  • that's not a 10 farad cap...

  • and this is why we don't use capacitors for applications such as these

  • BTW thanks for this post because I now have a relative grip on just how usefull 10 farad is. I can now do the proper purchasing.
