  • QUick question is there a video on exporting the midi ?

  • @BrennonAMusic you can drag and drop it, or click on the arrow in your groups and select export midi, you can also right click on each sound to export the midi for that.

  • @SoundsAndGear Im sorry to blow you up so much. whats this midi patch setup could that possibly be an even easier way to do it ? If you have Facebook feel free to friend me and maybe chat ? Brennon Anderson - Buffalo NY

  • @BrennonAMusic that allows you to set the midi settings for your group to either have each pad be it's own midi channel or midi note. That's only for when you want to trigger the sounds in maschine via midi.

  • @SoundsAndGear Thank you soooo muchhh

  • @BrennonAMusic no problem, have fun!

  • @SoundsAndGear ok that makes sense, Now I have my drums coming from machine, so any easy way to do that or just export that as a wav file and mess with it in reason itself ??

  • @BrennonAMusic you can export them as wave files individually or as a drum loop, etc.

  • @SoundsAndGear Any video on the midi routing from machine to reason i think Ive done it opposite ?

  • @BrennonAMusic not sure what you mean but this video shows the proper midi routing

  • @SoundsAndGear i made a bunch of songs using your tutorial on reason w/maschine BEFORE I got rewire...is there anyway to get all those projects exported as audio without reaper or ?

  • @BrennonAMusic you can export your midi from maschine, load it in reason, and export the projects as audio tracks.

  • @SoundsAndGear . . . I love you

  • @BrennonAMusic ahahahahahahaha LOL

  • YO I FINK U CAN RECORD THE MIDI BACK COZ I USED TO DO THIS ON MV8800 WITH REASON DEY SHUD BE VIS ON DAT ON YOUTUBE THANKS MAKIN ME REMEMBER DIS STUFF

  • What up fam how do i rewire reason 5 and maschine how do i make reason a vst

  • @TheRealBravo15 load up the rewire vst, get it from energy xt

  • @SoundsAndGear I tried this and its still not working ...or maybe i did something wrong. Its supposed to be a plug in option in machine right ?

  • @BrennonAMusic no it's not a plugin you have to use the midi out module

  • I Have a mac and I'm running lion...what can i use for my virtual midi cable ?

  • @BrennonAMusic nevermind I figured it out after two days of being an iMac clown... I can now integrate my old tools reason with my new tools...maschine and the wild world of plug ins... lets go!

  • @BrennonAMusic maschine has a built in virtual midi output on mac os, just turn it on in maschine preferences and reason preferences

  • What is LoopBe? I think that threw me a little

  • @mrjboogie921 a virtual midi cable

  • @SoundsAndGear Oh ok...is there another way to make them work together or is using LoopBe the best way

  • @mrjboogie921 regular midi cable.

  • i think that what the last poster was asking ... after initiating the template. YOu try to add a sound to the mix or and an instrument to the session . No matter how you set it up. the only instrument that will play aloud are the drums that the template comes with. YOu can't add sounds

  • @iseeyou275 I have no problem adding more sounds...rewire vst only gives one audio input into Maschine so you have to make sure everything is routed to the mixer properly.

  • @caniusethis44 you need to have a soundcard that can run multiple apps at once, or you can try it with the rewire vst and have sound running into Maschine from Reason.

  • All i have is maschine and a usb mic, what program can i use to use maschine beats and rap over them?

  • @123321Slick checkout reaper

  • How can I get reason logic to play together because I use the sounds in logic too.And everyone uses protools but can you do a video on after your done in machine using logic to track it or at least extracting the sounds into logic

  • @Blizzard0609 I don't work on a mac so I do not use logic

  • @Blizzard0609 To rewire Reason in Logic, just open Logic first then reason. make a new auxiliary channel in logic.. its the plus sign down to the left of the mixer that makes them. Then on the input of the auxiliary you will see rewire options. Set it to reason channel 1/2 (main mixer). At the top of reason the mixer goes out to this main output. 1/2 as default. Press play on logic and both reason and logic play back, the sound comes out of reason into that auxiliary channel u made.

  • can you make a video about setting up midi keyboards and reason with Machine please

  • @Blizzard0609 I don't really do many videos on reason, have one on setting it up with maschine though I'll send you the link in your inbox

  • @RelsseKMr you can use the rewire vst to use reason as a plugin in maschine

  • @RelsseKMr that depends on how redrum receives midi notes, not sure I don't use redrum.

  • Super helpful! thank you. My only issue now is, once i get the sounds on the individual midi channels in maschine and start to sequence normally i can only play one sound on keys with my midid keyboard. if i select another one on another channel, it still plays the previous one on my midi keyboard. any more help would be great! i'm using a mac, mpk49, Maschine, and mbox2 mini. i also have an actually midi cable if thats beneficial for me. Thanks in advance

  • @TheJayMatthew you need to change the channel of the pad, whichever pad is active that's what sound you will be playing, so change the midi channel on each pad to play different sounds, make sure your midi keyboard is active in maschine and not in reason.

  • @SoundsAndGear got it! preciate it man!

  • @iamjaymatthew no problem yo

  • please show how to use maschine with record 1.5. I wanna sequence with record but i still wanna use maschine

  • @siriustar3 Record can't load plugins so the only way you would be able to do it I guess would be sending midi out of Record into Maschine, but I'm not sure if Record has midi out, I don't use Reason/Record.

  • Yo fam is there a way to use Reason 5 as a sound module with the new maschine 1.6?

  • @digitalbeatztv same way as in this video, maschine doesn't have rewire support

  • @digitalbeatztv There's a VST plugin called XT Rewire VST that can be used to make a rewire host appear like a VSTi. Haven't tried it though but others say it works well.

  • hey man cool vid, question though, once i got everything set up like u said, my midi keyboard doesnt seem to be playing the sounds from reason in maschine, only the maschine pads play the sounds.it seems that the kong and dr rex dont work at all when i try them in maschine...peace

  • @zone2 check your midi settings

  • @ SoundsAndGear Yo Saint Joe. I haven't found Loop Be for MAC. Is there another option for MAC users?

  • @kingjaythree for mac you can just use "virtual out" in maschine, there's a virtual midi built in for mac users...us windows users don't get that luxury! lol

  • @SoundsAndGear haha. Good lookin out. I got it working.

  • @kingjaythree dopeness!

  • @SoundsAndGear Its Trakz fam. Appreciate the vid and the mac joint you posted.

  • @ASR1O word my dude, that's whasup, thanks for the support.

  • Good look homie. A lot of help.

  • @bigtizzo no doubt fam

  • damn u a computer genius man lol for your 1st time doing this thats crazy do you know if this applies to fl studio and other daws or just reason

  • @NINOBROWN914 lol, yeah i don't mess with reason, it should work like this with other daws though for sure

  • reason sucks.it seems what these guys made everything what posible jus to make it hard to use.ui is terrible...

  • @leparditas i'm not a fan of reason myself, I just did this video for a friend who wanted to know how to use it. I wouldn't say it sucks, I just personally don't like it lol.

  • Can anyone tell me how I can get the src tab toshow on machine ? I'm not able to assign midi channels through to reason with out finding the src tab.

  • @YoungScoob714 you have to be on an individual sound/pad in Maschine to setup midi out for that pad/sound

  • how do I use Maschine I Reocrd 1.5 sequencer, I cannot get it to record!?!?!?! I hear sounds see my pads playing but it will not record the pads midi?????

    IT's mapped and everything.

  • @tintala I'm not sure what you're trying to do, are you using maschine as a midi controller? You simply need to turn on Maschine as a midi input in Record, then load up whatever instrument you want to use inside of Record and play it.

  • @SoundsAndGear yes maschine as midi controlller to control KONG. I do get the pads and hear the sounds, but the sequencer will not record my sounds.... I did all this. but still not recording.

  • @tintala sounds like you need to make some different settings in Reason, if Maschine as a controller is triggering your devices in Reason, there's nothing else you need to do on that side, check your settings in Reason, I don't use it at all so I can't really help. I just did this video for a friend using the demo.

  • thanks, makes me want to get maschine even more ;)

  • @vileguile4 thanks for watching

  • what is loop be? software or some cable/device?

  • @alexiobeez software

  • He sounds like he is about to bust out crying... maybe because reason and the maschine work together so beautifully

  • @SharpChurR0 lol, maybe so, but probably because I don't like Reason at all lol, just did this for a friend.

  • Can you explain how to actually do a sequence n maschine with the reason sounds. you show the set up but ur not demonstratinng the actual making of the sequence n maschine

  • @klitikat there's nothing else to show. Sequence your sounds as normal, when you want to sequence something from Reason, use midi out to Reason. It's just basic midi sequencing here. The tricky part is recording the audio when you're done, that depends on your setup and how you like to work. Some resample Reason into Maschine, some record it into a daw.

  • N00b here. Can Maschine transpose an instrument im playing in reason? I need to transpose an instrument in reason 4, but it doesn't seem to be possible. Any help on this? Thanks in advance.

  • @AncestorGabo I'm not sure if it does or not, I no longer have the reason demo installed to test it out, it was just a quick video I did for a friend that uses reason.

  • thanks for the help man! good shit!

  • @Centzbeats glad to help yo!

  • Man are you freezing or what?

  • Good Sh@t. Further notice...it's ok to hook machine up via midi controller/surfaces....when you create a device...Reason creates a track for the created device. All you need to do, if you don't want to control Reason, through Reason via external midi control, just delete the midi tracks in the Reason sequencer. To automatically route a device to the mixer, in Reason, just drag it under the mixer when the device is created. One

  • @smokeizfire cool, I'm sure the Reason heads will like that tip, thanks.

  • good shit...joe

  • @meandminespro7 glad to help yo!

  • Hey Joe you got reason 5 yet? Id like to see maschine controling the new Kong Drum designer.

  • @aikighost nah, I just downloaded the demo haven't installed it yet

  • Yo, Goood Lookin Homie!! I found this by accident and I just asked myself how would I do this. Blam there it is.. Stay up! Much Love...

  • @Firstup220 dope fam, glad to help!

  • Saint Joe, what about the latency problem with sequencing Reason from Maschine? Do I need another sound card? I figure I need a multichannel card so that all connected devices and software operate at the same rate of latency. Is this how you have it set up?

  • @producer4real not sure what you mean, I don't have a latency problem when using this setup, but a multiclient card/interface is always a good idea, I was using my internal and an external interface, both were using asio4all so the latency was the same.

  • @SoundsAndGear Thanks for the tip, asio4all did the trick!

  • @producer4real dope yo!

  • Sup my G, one question.. instead of using LoopBe for the receiving of Reason howcome u just cant goto Advanced Controls and use Maschine Controller In??. Wouldn't that work to receive the sounds from Reason?

  • @heishere7 maschine controller IN is what come INTO maschine, it won't send anything OUT to Reason. If you're on a mac, there is a "maschine virtual out" for midi. You could also use a physical midi cable. Reason isn't sending anything TO Maschine, so Maschine IN is pointless, it's just basic midi, send mid OUT to what you want to control. Thanks for the suggestion though.

  • Hey man, great tutorial! I was just wondering that now we have everything working, I wanted to record the subtractor synth sound and sample it into maschine so I can do away with running Reason simultaneously. Just can't figure out the setup for that :(

  • @silverfiltermusic that would depend on your routing setup, some use their audio interface which has multiple outputs, of your on a mac you can use something like soundflower to route the audio.

  • Thanks for the tips man! I'm checkin' you out on da daily. Hey, do you know if there are any third party instrument libraries developed for Maschine?

  • @producer4real cool man thanks! Nah, no thrid party libraries yet...

  • Thanks this was very helpful.

  • @doktorfuture thanks for watchin yo!

  • Sup my G, like on an MPC, can u also change the tempo of a sample in the NI Maschine, if so how? Thanx 4 the info, ur videos r a jewel!

  • @BKLYNBOY7 maschine doesn't have timestretch build in, you can use general pitch or use the autochop to allow loops to change tempo, but no timestretch, many have been requesting it, but it's not in there as of right now

  • nice!!!

  • @selfinflict3 yessir, I did this for a friend that uses both, I don't use Reason lol, just downloaded the demo. It would probably be better to do with Record, so you can play the sequences and record the audio from your Reason instruments into Record.

  • @SoundsAndGear yo, i wanna know more about maschine's software, is there a vid, or somewhere i can check that out??

  • @selfinflict3 not sure what you wanna know lol, go to the NI website and watch the videos lol

  • thanx for this , really helpfull!any idea how to record the stuff that is playing from reason in maschine?

  • @iakovosv if you have a multi out/in interface you can route reason out and into another input, I have a friend that does it this way and just samples the reasons sounds for a couple of bars or whatever he needs for his pattern.

  • Im the one that left the comment on gearslutz and this is what i was talkin bout.I just need to know how to track the midi in pro tools. If i can do this with my pro tools instruments then the maschine gets more points in my book.I think i can live without simult pad and i know they will implement it in the update! or maybe its there we just dont know it.

  • @rhymecrimes you could open it as a plugin and sequence within protools, or you can drag the midi out of maschine and into protools. Simult isn't there, trust me lol

  • Extremely helpful.. I started in reason.. but never could figure out the advance routing features.. until now! Thanks

  • @KILLAHCANE cool, glad to help!

  • can maschine sequence external midi hardware (sound modules)?

    if so, can you demo?

  • to be honest saint joe this looks soo complicated to use lol

  • @sparkfirehot not at all lol, very easy it's just simple midi, however if you've never used midi before it may seem a little intense lol

  • Dope Vid SJ !! I just had a dude leave a comment on my page asking how to do this... I am about to go send him here.

  • @KnockSquared no doubt fam, thanks bro!

  • Great info homie!! Keep the info coming. Grace and Peace!!

  • @wer1lifeproductions thanks bro!

  • Thanks St Joe.

Mac users should use "Maschine Virtual Output" from Maschine and as an input to Reason. A IAC bus connection often sends repeating notes when you hit a pad once. Not what you want.

To control the buttons and dials and other controllers in a Reason instrument a template needs to be made with the Controller Editor. Probably best to wrap the instrument into Combinator to control the important parameters.

  • @tladb yep, mac has that virtual out in maschine, not sure why they didn't do that for pc, would have been dope.

In my opinion there is no elegant way to control the other buttons and functions while sequencing since you'd have to switch to midi control mode...which would effectively remove your sequencing abilities lol...you may be able to assign some macro/cc stuff and tweak via midi though.

Like I said I don't use Reason and this was just done to help some one, figured others could benefit

  • ahh - got mixed with the modes.

Also if you use Dr Rex and Redrum set the base key to C0 with the Pad Mode key to make the mapping between the Maschine pads work better .

The channel of a Maschine sound can be changed while a sequence is playing so you can juggle between instruments which might sound good recorded.

Much appreciated getting this started especially since Reason is not a program you normally use. (I like the routing)

  • @tladb cool, like I said, I'm not a reason user so lol...it's all good!

  • dope vid/ tnx

  • @nicoleon1209 thanks for watchin yo

  • well trying to use it :P

  • haha finaly your using reason 4 :):)!!!!!

  • @IRuBikX nah, just did it because someone asked about it lol, this is my first time messing with it lol

  • ahh nice you should really start using it, its a very powerful piece of software :P. So whats NI Maschine? What its all about then? :S

  • @IRuBikX lol, hmmm....we'll see if I did use it, it would be simple as a sound module and that's it.

Go over to NI website and peep what Maschine is all about or checkout some of my other vids, and Kocksquared vids

  • alrite dude i will :)

  • this was beneficial to me bro, i use reasons 4 and i was playing on using two different midi controllers for my beats..... thanks for emailing this to me....

  • @BMI07 cool man, glad to help

  • thank s joe, big fan of reason and thinking on getting maschine and wounder if the to could work together now that i know this i will go get maschine leave to a true sound hound to come up with this great info thanks man check you out on sounds and gear

  • @tonylonewolf no problem man, if you have Record it may be easier to sequence the sounds from there and record the output into Record. Or you can route audio back into Maschine to sample it I guess, just depend son your setup

  • That is the only thing I like about Reason is that it has some nice sounds

  • @pppeeeppee yeah? I haven't messed with it much, just tried to put this together. I wouldn't mind using it as a module, but I would never use it for production, I just don't like the way the sequencer works at all.
