Really nicely done video. Clear, accessible and inviting to all. Shooters and non shooters alike may benefit from this. You guys are a credit to the industry, thanks.
Any way ,I thank your for your side of the story and your time and not deleting me for my opposing viewpoint, a rarity these days.! D In truth it really wouldn't bother me personally, whether I'd have to lug around a 5 or an 8 pound rifle. as long as either is accurate with fixed sights. Honestly I don't care for lightweight designs. The HBAR barrel is more accurate in 16-20" than the "pencil barrel which has whip and feels unbalanced. Just my opinion though, each to his own.
A polymer lower, of course will add a bit more of plastic to the AR design since it doesn't have enough already. Other than the stock, my AR's have no polymer parts, a plastic lower is to be scorned by any self respecting AR enthusiast. This cheapens the already cost cutting design.
@ericr530 guns are tools, they work or they don't. All my plastic lowers worked just fine for tens of thousands of rounds, and one worked even after being run over by a truck. I'm a shooter first, I will use whatever works to fulfill my operational requirements. "Enthusiasts" aren't shooters.
@SinistralRifleman Since I have been shooting guns for over 3 decades I can assure you I am very much a shooter as well as an enthusiast. Since a stripped aluminum lower weighs nearly nothing, the weight saving argument plastic vs. aluminum lower just doesn't hold water. The Stoner design was to be utilized with an aluminum receiver. They have also changed the design using proprietary oddly sized take down pins. If your not an FFL, given the transfer fee and shipping you will pay just as much
@ericr530 A CAV-15 lower is 1 pound lighter than a lower with A2 stock, and about a half pound lighter than a lower with a telestock. The take down pins are the same diameter on the CAV-15, any standard upper fit.
All the important stuff in an AR15 happens in the upper. The lower is a relatively simple component with no heat transfer or significant stress load, it just has to hold all the parts in the right place. The CAV-15 lower does that just fine.
@ericr530 If they put R&D and quality in the design, and tested it under harsh conditions, then I don't see anything wrong with a polymer lower. The SCAR has a polymer lower and works fine. I don't have a Calvary army plastic lower, so I can't say if it's good or bad. I still would take the aluminum lower though as that is time proven and combat proven. I don't see the AR15 as a cheap rifle to make, an actually very expensive rifle to make in my opinion.
@ericr530 plenty of polymers are much more durable than aluminum. Im sure the same arguments you make today, were made by those who felt steel was the only choice material to be used in firearms manufacturing. Some people are just resistant to change.
Nicely done with a smile! I might also add my .02 worth here and state that the polymer mags are great now. What might be even better though are the fabulous (did I say "fabulous"?) ULA mag loaders. Both of these, I find, are cheap and very worthwhile additions to your gear. Carry on.
In all seriousness, i let my gf watch this, after watching this vid sevewral times, she was much less intimidated about the idea of firing my ar-15.....i believe the demonstrators pace and clarity of explaining the weapon and its steps of operation made all thew difference in my gf's confidence....and it helped that it was a woman doing it.
Awesome video! Not only is she gorgeous and does she have an amazing smile, but the video was informative and helpful! I simply couldn't stop watching her. She was so much more enjoyable to watch than a typical grungy guy. Thanks!
Finally!!! A woman not leaning back, using a gimpy stance, going "owweee", and handling a rifle like a dirty rag. Thank you, thank you for the vids. I'm introducing my gf to shooting, and I show her your vids as a primer. She appreciates seeing a lady doing the shooting/teaching (much less intimidating), and learns a lot from you. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. I didn't even realized she was showing us how to fondle a rifle...all I could see is the beautiful barrel tips...I mean tip...you know what I mean......it's too bad I'm into bowhunting.
@LS6CamaroA4 You have to if the bolt is lock to the rear, because the buffer spring is not forcing the bolt foward which is what forces the charging handle foward. It is ok to do it when the bolt is locked to the rear.
Great job!!! I was looking for something basic on this subject!!!
