Superior Ocean Saban dub FTW! If only this dub continued for all episodes we wouldnt be forced to put up with the garbage Faulconer music which made dbz seem like a circus and Sabat's grunting. People are mistaken who say that Chris Sabat was better for older Vegeta cuz his voice was deeper and grittier. Wrong. Sabat still lacked the overall quality voice acting skills of Drummond - Drummond had more range and A LOT more intensity (especially in those key moments).

I can pick any chain smoking bum off the street to play a character with a hoarse and thick voice like Sabat. Big deal. That doesn't qualify them to play old Vegeta.

Drummond's PASSION is unmatched - he gives goosebumps.

I happen to agree with the "Sabat sounds better for older Vegeta" crowd, but Drummond did play this one to perfection. Though, I don't think he sounds as good as the series goes on and Vegeta obviously looks older.

The reason Drummond doesn't sound as good later on is because his cast was acquired by another company by the name of Blue Water Studious, who put them on a measly budget, crappy script, and VERY rushed time schedule (I believe they had to complete the rest of DBZ in about a year or two, while the Funi dub the rest of us saw took about 4-5 more years). His presentation was also sabotaged by an AWFUL rehashed blue water soundtrack that reeked the worst of saturday morning cartoons.

Oh don't get me wrong, I didn't mean the quality of his voice acting went down. I just meant that his maniacal/mischievous Vegeta voice didn't quite suit the older-looking Vegeta. I can't really explain why, it's just one of those aesthetic things.

And yeah, I always wondered what Ocean's voice acting would sound like with Funi's musical composition group (Falconer). I'm certain it would've been up to par.

ocean dub was the best pre-cell era... the funimation remastered version blows.. but the ocean dub in cell and later is complete nutsack and doesnt even come close to the funimation version. Cartoon Network did it the best. When they played the series it was all ocean with the original voice acting for the beginning and once cell time came around the music got 10x better and the voice acting changed to funi.

The Ocean Dubbed DBZ is what I grew up with, so it's naturally what I think is better. Especially Piccolo, Vegeta, and Goku.

You should look up "Vegeta's Wrath" for a good example of how good Drummond is.
