We have a Toshiba 56HM195 and it has taken 2 lamps and one color wheel to make it four years. We spent 2k for the TV and about another 1k keeping it working. This is the worst product I have ever purchased. Color wheel is out again and I have plugged in my 8 yr old Magnavox that works as good as it did new as well. But no HD.
Agree WHOLE HEARTEDLY! Toshiba is a POS TV! I have one of the original 46" that was included on the lawsuit. Nobody contacted me and they were not going to send me replacement bulbs or refund the money I already shelled out in bulbs. TOSHIBA =GARBAGE!
I was thinking in getting a toshiba but your video made me not to buy a Toshiba!!!but I heard they keep making all this junk expensive tv's they say as I said they all break down in less than 3 yrs or so.just do look it up on google customer complaints.
Hi, my tv keeps turning itself off , just wondering whether anyone out there knows why this keeps on happening? it keeps on going to a standby mode, but the only way i can get it to switch back on is to turn off at mains , then it will stay on for literally a couple of minutes & then turn itself off again.. HELP! :( x
I can understand your frustrations..but I've owned a toshiba 65 DLP for a little over 6 yrs now and have only had to change the lamp once. They are a bit pricey but this tv has a great picture! Hopefully they'll keep getting cheaper since dlp is a dead technology.
Can understand being totally peeved off with these TVs. Got ours at Best Buy and when the lamp went out after 1 year, was advised by the salesperson that BB does not carry the replacement lamps, you have to go to the manufacturer. What??? At approx. $200 a pop, somebody's getting rich quick! The set did have a great price when we bought it, and it does have a good picture...but....ours is now about 4 and a half years old and the lamp has been replaced four times. Yeah, RUN don't WALK!
thanks to youtube, and those who make videos like these, i was thinking of getting a toshiba, this model cause it was being sold at a nice price.... i got a used samsung 67 DLP LED and i bought it like 3 years ago from best buy and is still on the same bulb with no issues. i guess ill stay with samsung brand......thanks again ToshibaHater1 i have also seen other post about this same model having problems so ill stay way from the Toshiba brand all together
I agree with you 100% I bought a 52 inch Dlp also, within 3 months the first lamp when out. Should have rang a bell! About 4 lamps since 2007, but the last 2 lasted 2 months each. A friend told me the LAMP BALLAST might be going bad, having trouble finding one though since the TV is a older model. You are not alone...GRRRR!!!
Man had my tv for 7 years . and im on my 3rd lamp. TV is great it's the lamp thats sucks! I wish I could haul it back down to _ucking FRY'S Electronics. My truck just went out to.
100 percent agrees with this guy(toshiba hater)exactly the same problem,so whoever has some news on a law suits ,my email is diaz3720@yahoo.com.STAY AWAY FROM TOSHIBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
parents bought toshiba 52hm84 about 5 yrs roughly, and well after 4 lamps all covered by their warranty, until june 2010 when the warranty expired they didnt inform my parents and now they have to get a new one. i just keep telling over and over again to buy a new one tv because these lamps are crap. And also a big middle finger to BESTBUY for not informing my parents that the tv gives out and you have to replace the lamp.
The reason for the video is to let people know about this particular Toshiba product. For what it's worth to you, the tv was purchased at circuit city which went out of business probably for selling too many toshiba products. And I like my 20 year old aquarium
You really need to get off of You Tube and get on the internet and file a complaint with your states attorney general and your states better business bureau . Complaining to YouTube won't do anything . Oh and your 20 year old Sony Tv looks like an aquarium. Buy a new LCD tv . Noticed you never ever mentioned the retailers name.
mines been working for 4years now with heavy use.... im getting a plasma and giving my toshiba to inlaws but i may get them a bulb just incase its pretty cheap now.
I have a 62HM-15 I think is the model number. I've had it 4 years and 4 months. The lamp went out for the first time on 9/11/10 (yesterday). I found an OEM replacement for $135. If it lasts even 2 more years for the $135 it's worth it IMHO.
Just a quick update about my 65 inch paper weight.
I have good news! The eight lamp purchased is now going strong for 3 months now.
The bad news is that I keep telling my family to shut the TV off to save the lamp...Gotta love Toshiba technology and their customer service. That's OK tho, I still have my trusty 23 year old Sony.
I also had a baaaad experience with Toshiba DLP. Mine is just over 3 years old. We replaced the lap about 8 months ago...and now we get a horrid screetching/whining noise that the service person I spoke to and emailed an audio clip of the sound to said it is the color wheel....however, the kicker is....the part is no longer available, so my 42" TV is now useless.
wow that sucks man. i have a toshiba 65hm167 and i bought it at 2007 from newegg. so far i've been on my first lamp the whole time been using it for gaming on my ps3, xbox360, and pc. So i just noticed my Tv taking alot longer to get to full brightness. prob flickers for 1 or 2 mins then stops. So planning on buying my second lamp.
Toshibahater1, i think you just got a bad television set or you have the lamp settings on high and it kills the bulb faster. I also have the Toshiba 65HM167 and have had it for 2 years and have never changed the bulb once. I think you should just turn the lamp on low or medium.
Marty you are smoking crack I have a 56HM195 that is was supposed to be 1080p and it is not it "upscales" so your lovely 73HM196 is really 1080i not 1080p. You just paid too much money for a regular HDTV. Oh and I am sick of the DLP tax (bulbs) every year.
I have a Toshiba 72" DLP model 72HM196 that works great. Purchased in 2006, and is about to turn 3 years old. On my second lamp. I replaced the factory lamp last year. There was indeed a problem with the models that end in HM195, that caused Toshiba to give free replacement lamps for 2 years after warranty expiration, but I haven't heard of any problems with the models build from 2006 on. Sorry to hear about your problem. I would buy my set again.
I'm sorry it happened to you as well.
Does anybody think Toshiba cares about what we think or feel.
Don't buy anything Toshiba.
