  • Awesome. I saw this group in NYC, probably in 1976. Hendrix is a good conparison.

How was this video shot, with an 8mm camera? LOL

  • @tjfreak Lmao! I hear ya

  • Since we are talking (bragging?)about Trower concert lineups in 1975 :opener-Gary Wright,2nd act Kansas Headlined by original RT lineup at the fabulous Toledo Sports Arena (Ohio) all for about $7.50 ! I'll have to hunt up that ticket stub now HaHa

  • This was the first robin trower song I ever heard , I still bar up when I hear it

  • @loungerenownrecords Bill Lordan is the drummer in this clip. Reg Isadore had a better tan goin' on.

  • This is so Hendrixesque! Great tune

  • saw an interview with Trower recently (from the 90s) and he said this concert in Frisco is the highlight of his entire career...he mentioned the crowds response to Bridge of Sighs

  • Great song, great playing!!

  • makes me sick to thing I never went to see Trower and that I went to Aerosmith & others that weren't really all that much, is there a do over !!

  • I had back stage passes at the Shrine show the next night, & watched the show from the dressing room side, stage right, & from the photographers pit below. I got to meet & mingle with Robin & then new drummer Bill in the reception room after the encores. Rush was the support band. What a night for a young musician to get a glimpse at greatness!

  • Just by watching Trower's face, he is absolutely having a blast on this song!

  • The main complaint about Robin Trower at the time was that he was merely re-working Hendrix stuff. I was not a great fan of either. I was more into what we called Heavy Rock - before Heavy metal was named !! But then he is keeping Hendrix alive so you could say he was one of the earliest Tribute artists

A similar complaint was made about Oasis and Beatle material !!

  • @joseph000599 - it was the next day. Shrine Auditorium, LA.

  • I got to see him about 20 years ago here in Toronto, was right up by the stage about seven feet away from him... damn, I wish I had the videocam I have now for that.

  • That was Bill Lordan on drums here...

  • Wow, love it. What a classic video.

  • thanks for posting. got to get back to my roots every now and then.

  • I saw Robin at Winterland, SF. On the bill was Steve Marriot All stars and (I think) Tommy Bolin. Day of the Eagle was the opening number. Then he played the opening riff to Bridge of Sighs, and the crowd went nuts. It was one of those moments you just never forget.

I remember this being the bi-centenial year, 1976. Is it possible this was in '76 instead of '75? (not that it really matters, but its kind of cool to see a clip of a show you were at so long ago...)

  • @viktahL - the concert you described was indeed in 1976. However, this concert featured Pablo Cruise and Journey as the other acts, and was in 1975.

  • @viktahL - I was at the same concert and remember how lucky I was to have seen Tommy Bolin before he left us. all three bands put on great shows. Those were some wonderful times.

  • I was a friend of Rich McKean.I was a friend of his brother at Piedmont High,Ken.

I attended this great show at Winterland! The late, great bass player/vocalist

James Dewar of Robin Trower with Robin on guitar and Reg Isidore on drums!

What a Trio! In my book, their body of great, original songs was every bit as great

    as The Jimi Hendrix Experience!

  • @loungerenownrecords - Reg Isidore did not play at this concert.

  • Saw Trower in 75 at Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. This was just before he released the live album, which captured it pretty well. Knocked me out.

  • saw trower circa 74 san bernardino swing aud. general admiss. standing 20 ft away, still remember like it was last week!!!

  • Trower, Dewar and Lord. One of the most powerful trios in rock.

  • this was the first concert I ever went to and i will never forget it. It was amazing, I was on the balcony and they had marshalls stacked so high, we had to stick toilet paper in our ears!

  • If this was taped at winterland, I was at this show.

Leaning against the stage , right in front of him.

It was general admission, so we would spend the night in line

outside the door at winterland to get up to the stage when they let us in.

    We were diehards.

He was amazing and if i remember correctly, he opened with this and it was loud and amazing!

This was a big time show back then.

Does anyone know what happen to all the winterland taped shows?

They use to tape all every act of every show.

  • @johnnythefoxzz My dad was a good friend of the Fillmore and Winterland head sound guy, Rich McKean. He died unexpectedly in the early 80s, and his parents had all his stuff from Winterland and the Fillmore, hundreds of tapes and every poster for every show he ever worked, stored in their garage. A few years after he passed, they threw it all away. How's that for an absolute heartbreaker?

  • @BluesmanDave It's a damn shame. Hate to see anybody's life tossed away, but that particularly smarts.

  • Unpretentious. The real deal. Thanks.

  • Yeah! An absolute treasure that waaaay too many are missing out on ....wake up people! Check out those smiles..I love this one, too--thanks a bunch StephenRedrobe. See Too Roling Stoned, same year, also....

  • Damn!

  • Thanks for the video.. really took me back.

  • Oh, Heeeeeell Yah! I'm Puttin' a battery in my wah-wah right now. thanks for the great post Mr Redrobe!

  • Hey man, thanx for this treasure!!
