@anovasinn This was actually the first time I'd ever heard of the violent femmes (gimmee a break I was only 14) but in spite of their appearance here, I decided to like them anyway. In a related story, the first time I heard They Might Be Giants was on Tiny Toon adventures.

actually in retrospect this show was a lot hipper than I realized at the time because Frank and Joel from mst3k both worked on it- and come to think of it I learned about Mathew Sweet as a result of Joel Hodgson and Nell Scovell ( the chick who came up with the Sabrina show) writing the episode of space ghost coast to coast that featured him! so being a geeky fan of weird 90's kids tv shows really introduced me to some pretty rad music!
