It seems as though F1 & the IRL (or whatever you like to call it these days) are both absolutely bent upon ruining themselves. Sportscar racing, on the other hand, just seems to get it. 24 Hours of Le Mans, Petit Le Mans, 24 Hours of Nürburgring, 12 Hours of Sebring, F1 who?
@julingy those "tuned up fast street cars" ARE purpose built race cars. those Ferrari's, Porsche's, Vette's share only a frame and engine with there street going counter parts. Just about everything else has been replaced with Light weight carbon fiber and race built parts. they are not street legal by any means.
@julingy they race two or even sometime three different classes at the same time,,,it makes things interesting, I was at the vintage races today it was some great racing
@julingy Do you mean the Le Mans Prototypes and the others like GT1 GT2 GT3 class Ferrari, Corvettes, Porsches, Vipers, and Panozs? Same league but different class, its American version of Le Mans
Bring back the P1 Acuras, give them a turbo and let them race against peugot and audi

i was there, it was a great race
the corvettes were extremely loud, they shook your entire body as they fly by, love them
and acura was amazing...cant wait to go next year
