  • Just had the embolization a few days ago. Slowly getting back to normal. Good luck to anyone going through this. Scary stuff.

  • I had an avm at the t-6 in my spinal column. It has been a long road to recovery. I had to learn to walk again.

  • If anyone is nervous or feels like this is painful to get rid of it isn't! If you use a gamma knife they put three bb's In your head for alignment( this is probably the worst part but you feel absolutely nothing because of novacaine) and then they put you In a machine that spins you around to get the location of the avm for the radiation to come I'n contact. Then they apply radiation. This takes approximately a half an hour and you feel like nothing is happening. Then... WOW your done its that

  • @61ROCKSTARZ I've been battling this for six years. The pain is killing me... I also get staph infections all the time. Been battling the same one sense Oct of 2010. I don't know what to do anymore...

  • I have both types of AVM on the right side of my head. Their gonna start with the embolization soon. I'm curious how it will work out.

  • My avm is in the tongue, jaw, cheek...it's growing great in the las years. I had laseryag, embos, surgeries.... Have I any solution?

  • Thank you this has been very informative. My sister is going for her third embolisation for her AVM atm. This procedure is amasing.

  • I have an intramedullary spinal cord AVM and aneurysm. AVM bled 8 yrs. ago. Initially dx'd with cavernous angioma. Found out 4 yrs. later I have the AVM and aneurysm. Still have severe deficits from the bleed. Both embolized 4 yrs. ago, obliterating the AVM. Found out a couple of months ago the AVM has grown back, and the embo in the aneurysm is holding up at this time. Hopefully AVM will be embolized again in a few months. Thank you for these videos. Can you please do one on spinal cord AVMs?

  • Dear Doctor, 2 month ago I got brain AVM. after that I do embolazetion. Now I am ok or not?? Now what I wand? Plz give the guiduce Thank you Doctor Rgrds Binu. S

  • I was a patient at both Stanford and UCSF, treated twice with radiosurgery, (cyclotron and gamma knife,) embolized in 1990. All radiation was pronounced non effective.

After the first year of treatment I started developing aneurysms, one of which was repaired with craniotomy in 1996.

I have wondered if the radiation could have caused the subsequent aneurysms but have found no evidence as to whether this is a usual side effect of treatment.

  • I was diagnosed with 27 AVMs throughout my brain. Most were very small but two were of significant size. I'm lucky as there is a Gamma Knife here at Rhode Island Hospital. All were closed off using the Gamma Knife. Afterwards, I was left with a seizure disorder, and memory issues. I had to relearn speech, language, how to tie my shoes, how to turn a faucet on and off, how to spell, how to fold a blanket, and so many other things which we take for granted on a daily basis.

  • I wish my younger cousin could have been so lucky to have been diagnosed with having the AVM prior to his death when 1.5 years ago. He was 17. He didn't have any symptoms until the day he colapsed due to the AVM bursting. The tangle was about the size of a fist. We call him a hero because just moments before he colapsed he had signed up to become an organ donor. Through this many people's lives have been saved. Not a day goes by that we don't think about Alex...we miss him and love him!

  • Thank you for doing this video. We need to spread awareness. I was diagnosed with an AVM in December 08' I've had two embolizations and LINAC radiation. I'm 39. My avm has never bled thank God. It was found by being proactive with my health and listening to my body. :)
