  • theyre freaking cool and all but cant really imagine spending $1500 on a cat that could die very easily ( getting hit by car) rather than adopting a free cat or two or even donating that money to a pet shelter

just doesnt make alot of sense to me

  • toyt like a toyger

  • 01:14 - high tech? get a f***in grip. sad sad people, a high tech cat.

    ive heard it all now

  • Animals are pets not fashion statements!!!!!!!!!!!

  • When I first brought my tabby Rusty home, I didn't get him from a shelter. I got him from the basement of a bodega in Alphabet City here in NYC. His mom gave birth to him in the basement, and he was one of four kittens. All of them orange tabbies. I got him when he was three weeks old, bottle fed him, had him neutered, clipped his nails on a regular basis, made sure he had his shots, and he lasted for 13 years.

He's been gone for six years now, and I still dream about the little beggar.

  • "Designer" animals? They're not fucking objects.

  • The picture at 1:16 is like. "Hell yeah...."

  • beautiful cat, but not really like a tiger

  • Though I know that there are so many animals in shelters that deserve homes, the shelter people are too picky, so i totally agree with @FireIceyKitten and I moved into a new condo and I wanted a dog and I tried again with another shelter for a cat and they both said no. But I will say, I am so tempted to get a Toyger...they are so adorable. And at least with a breeder, I know what I'm getting and I don't have to hassle and jump through so many hoops to get a pet.

  • its beautiful but i wouldnt spend so much for a cat like that,my Lucy is a common moggy tabby and doesnt look that different from them

  • I just realized, the cat at our house (which is from a shelter) kind of matches that description.

  • Thats cool cat but it genetically altered not a product of nature product of science

  • we should be concentrating on protecting the wild tigers and those that want to spend loads of money on a designer cat should give it to the charity's that need money to help protect the rapidly disappearing species of wild tigers.

Stupid humans. Whats wrong with the millions of beautiful 'moggys' in shelters. My two cats are just as beautiful as any designer cat.

  • They certainly are beautiful, intelligent cats, but come on...there are plenty of beautiful cats and kittens at your local shelter just waiting to be adopted. Why, I wonder, are people purposely creating new cat 'breeds' when our domesticated animals are in such a crisis...?

  • @aquamarine1515 Yes, and we have created so many cats and dogs with health problems, can't we just live with what we have? I mean, if we create more breeds now, it'll just be more to take care of! Why can't people think about that? Get an animal from the shelter, and have it's babies be designer cats! Make good use of those poor cats! I think that would be a very good idea!

  • @aquamarine1515 bc shelters are too daym picky when it comes to adoption. I rented a house a decade ago and they just circled rent and said NO. Never again. Breeders take ur money and u get an animal. That easy.

  • @FireIceyKitten We almost adopted a cat from a shelter but the woman was insulting me so we bought a $65 dollar tabby from Petsmart. Well, Caspian ran away yesterday. We know where he is, but he won't let us grab him. So we went to Craigslist and adopted two tabby littermates for FREE!!! Frikk you Heritage Human Society!!!

  • @aquamarine1515 Hi there. I was also wondering about why this cat was bred until I saw Cats 101 today on Animal Planet. This lady is the first person to breed the Bengals and she bred this cat specifically to charge moneys that would go directly into funds to protect tigers from extinction. She bred these cats to have the orange color and tiger like stripes and the high prices are for protection of the wild tiger. Hope she is being honest since kittens go from $1500.00 to $5000.00 a kitty.

  • we all design nature... when you see a beautiful woman that you wwant to have babies with, say your dog is a champion and you want to make champion puppies, shit i know most of you have ate all those cross bread fuits and guess what there fuckin good... so who the fuck cares what science or just ingnorant ppl do with animals. its all goin back to normal after we are gone anyway

  • @jeffry5523 it wont return to normal... coz we will have successfully ruined the entire planet.

  • Haha! Designer cat? I have an F5 bengal male, and he basicly looks the same apart from the fact that he has spotts and rossetting. Ridiculous. It's a rip of, just like with the ashera being a F1 savannah cat.

But, hey... let the rich and dumb people be fooled. After all, these "designer" cat's are alsoo creatures that needs a loving home, right?

But remember: it's a creature that needs love and respect. it shouldn't be bought just because it's a "designer" cat.

  • @angelswings19 Arent bengals expensive aswell, so arent you one of these rich dumb people?

I'd rather have an ordinary black cat, that looks like a small panther.

  • @chaotic1979 Im not rich and im not dumb. I just think people put to much weight into the whole "omg, its a designer cat, lets buy it because of the huge wild cat trend right now!"

A close friend of the family breeds bengals, so I could pick one for my birthday. I have always been interested in the breed. And if you want a ordinary black cat, then go get one from the local animal shelter or something? : ) They may not be designer cats that are selectevly breed, but they still look beautiful.

  • @angelswings19 lol, for a sec i think you gonna have a bengal tiger.

  • @Lex60 Lol xD No, I have enough with my bengal CAT, thank you very much : p

  • I hate to see words like high-tech, glamour, stylish, designer, etc... for a cat! For god's sake, It's an animal! A living creature, to love, give affection and take care of! Not a piece of furniture, dressing or electronic equipment! And it seems that other "regular" cats (which aren't high-tech and glamour) are worth nothing reading things such this.

I imagine all the dumb people going "oooh a glamour, high-tech designer cat, I want it for my living room!", maybe hating cats themselves.

  • hey i have a toyger i didnt spend thousands of dollars on him he's 4 years old i adopted him but these cats are awesome ,,, i paid an adoption fee and thats it .the idea behind these cats is to get ppl to stop breeding big cats and try to preserve those we have by taking better care of the planet which we humans are screwing up

  • @timo5494 Well, you just made me rethink what I said earlier.

  • Anyone else but me notice the "-Lifestyle with the help of a computer." AKA Photoshop. They aren't really crossbred or whatever. A lot of those photos are actual breed of cat where the tiger stripe is natural. Spots and stripes are natural patterns found in cats... it's often the default if your mixed breed mut cat breeds with others... tabby.

  • my cats a toyger!!! are these supposed to be expesive? because i adopted him for free at the vet :)

  • Anyone who says they love animals/cats and wants any sort of "designer" animal is an idiot and or liar. Those animals are made out of greed, obviously another trend those poor creatures are only seen as dollar signs as Murchandise.

  • @WhoaThisIsAwesome Regardless of what motivates the people breeding these cats, are the not still God's beautiful creatures? Or, if you're an atheist, aren't they still cats, deserving of our good treatment and respect? You know what would be awesome, if you tried to not come across so contemptuous. Your arguments might be more convincing.

  • Love the images of those beautiful cats! Hate the idea of government intervention in what SHOULD be common sense issues.

I have two long haired cats that I didn't choose. They were left here by my grown children for legitimate reasons. We're trying to make the best of a not-so-temporary situation, and I'm now the adopted grandma to these kitties until death do we part. They're sweet, but I really wanted a siamese cat.

It all comes down to PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

  • thats pretty cool, i have a tabbycat and he looks almost exactly like the toyger except for the color of fur.

  • tigers are cool? And i am a Canadian that is minding there own business :)

  • jkf1993 get over yourself. you are an overly sensitive look yea its sad that cats need adoption but im sick of people's fucking "poor this" "poor that" sob stories get over it there are thousands of dying people i say worry about them first before you cry about fucking cats. and about we shouldn't be playing god and fuck with nature thats some of the most old fashioned ignorant shit i ever heard we can do what we want and nobody will stop us u fuckin PETA eatin pussy go hug a tree or somethin.

  • in truth.. I say fuck the dying humans there's too many of us. WE are overpopulated if ANY species of animal is.

So how about you stick your Christian indoctrination up your ass because animals have probably more of a right to be here than we do.

  • Have more of a right? No animal can have "more of a right" to be here than any other animal. Rights do not exist in nature.

If you're so concerned with human "overpopulation" that you value animal life over human, perhaps you should go jump off a bridge to help solve the "problem."

  • this is wrong, seriously. You are not supposed to fuck with nature like this an play God. There are MILLIONS of cats the need adoption, and these pieces of trash are shoving tiger cum up house cat asses to spit out over priced mutant freaks.

  • LOL, it's a cross between a tabby, and a bengal... which is a reasonably well established breed of domestic cat. I can't disagree that there are lots of rescue cats out there, but I think it's unlikley that a breed costing around $1000 is going to be around in enough numbers to make any difference to the numbers of cats up for adoption. And yes, a bengal does have wild blood, but it is bread naturally... and was discovered by accident, no shoving involved.

  • what do you mean fuck with nature, man is part of nature, so what we do is all part of nature. do you like dogs, they are all mans creation of inter breading, the cow any house cat, most animals man uses are created by mans doing and tinkering. DUMB SHIT

  • That's not the fucking point "DUMB SHIT" there are millions of regular cats that need adopting.

  • and humans too, whats your point, why dont yougo adopt a bunch of cats if its such an issue to you, why comment on another breed of cat if you dont wnat it dont watch the video and comment, there are tones of dogs birds fish, hamsters out htere that can be adopted too, go get them adopted them, i want a bigger house cat then the normal sized house cat, its kinda like choosing a golden lab over yorkee (spelling)

  • i dont see your FUCKING POINT TO COMMENTING ON THIS VIDEO. ihate pissant little kids who comment on shit for the hell of it, go comment on one of your littl fag kid video game videos that you post and stop flapping your mouth!

  • If someone buys a toyger, they have NOTHING to do with homeless cats. Those are not their cats. They did not abandon them. They should not be guilt tripped over it.

According to your type of logic, everyone who has their own child instead of adopting is responsible for children in orphanages and should be guilt tripped about it.

  • For every dog or cat you buy, one dies in a shelter. This is an irreducible fact. For every puppy or kitty you bring into this world, a dog or a cat will die in a shelter (or on the street or in the hands of a torturer). This is a non-debatable fact.

  • stop posting this is every friggin cat video jesus

  • The reason you are wrong is because as a community - which domesticated these animals, making us responsible - we have greatly surpassed saturation. There simply aren't enough homes for the dogs and cays WE have already created.

  • i swear to god if i come to your home, you better have 20 cats and dogs in there from the shelter!!!!

  • You crack me up :) Well, we have the legal limit of three cats. 2 adopted and one Main Coon my daughter, a shelter employee bought for herself. So I understand reality too

But somebody has to quote the facts. It amazes me how many people say the same faulty excuse that pure bred cats have nothing to do with strays in shelters. YES they do. For every home a pet bred for that purpose fills up, that's one less home avail for a stray. Simple.

  • So do you have kids? Why didn't you adopt a starving kid instead of creating your own? Your claim is useless and can be adapted for any purchase we make in life.

  • Well if all arguments were equal you'd have a point. But to test your argument, ask yourself if having a kid is the same as having a pet. If it's not exactly the same, then your argument starts to fall apart. However, I think your argument is probably better than you would expect. There are lots of cases where I think that would be the proper course. So, then what's your point? My argument is not "useless". If you make that claim, try to prove it. Don't just "claim" it's wrong.

  • Instead of being angry at people who buy purebreds, you should be angry at people who aren't responsible pet owners and in a sense "create stray" cats. You're looking at it all wrong.

    A) Fix your cat(s)

    B) Don't get a pet you can't/won't take care of

simple. it's not the owners of purebreds faults, that's just stupid to think that.

  • 1. Not angry 2. Do blame irresponsible owners 3. Not looking at it wrong - for every fancy cat created, that's ONE home that will not be filled by a stray 4. I agree with your A and B 5. I didn't call you names AND I'm not stupid. I am in fact both smart & correct.. I hear your excuse over and over. It's rationalization & denial fueled by guilt I guess. Breeders are not the main problem, but I'm only discussing the FACT that if we choose a fancy breed a stray WILL die. Choose what you want.

  • There are hundreds and thousands of children in the world who are starving, sick, and dying. Is it fair to tell people that if they choose to produce their own children instead of adopting someone else irresponsibility, that makes them a bad person?

So I guess because I choose my "fancy breed" (to have my own biological children) instead of adopting a child from a third world country, I'm a bad person now?

  • I've heard this one before too. To your part A: I don't know - maybe. To part B: People bred pets against their will so we all are responsible for them. The fact that we may or may not be responsible for starving children doesn't change that. Being responsible is hard. I don't know if you're a "bad" person. But again, that's a different question. However, you are just rationalizing. You believe you can't do anything so you give up.

  • @jcisbell Good point but there are factors in being a parent that can't be fairly compared to getting a pet.

  • And no, I'm not just "giving up". I am capable of understanding that somethings just can not be fixed, at least not without government involvement and standardization/laws/requirements/monitoring/etc.

That's just unrealistic. If there is a REALISTIC way of solving something then by all means, I'm all for it.

But telling people are killing cats by buying a cat that they want is really doing nothing but complaining.

  • The 'realistic" way is to start by getting people to think it all the way through like you are doing. Then make them realize that THEY need to write to legislators supporting spay neuter laws. Look I LOVE fancy breeds, that's how I got in this mess, thinking all about it. There really is no way out; Buy one - one dies, simple.

  • Why do you start a movement? Start an organization...

Get in touch with political people who have the power to promote solutions to problems. Get it passed...

Get in touch with the media, start marketing the problem and a FEASIBLE solution.

Sitting on YouTube and point the finger at others is pretty hypocritical. You're not doing anything really towards your cause.... are you?

Get active, stay active, and solve the problem, don't complain about it.

  • I AM part of a movement. I produce two animal adoption shows. I've worked at shelters. I've rolled 50 gallon drums full of "deads" as they called them. I've watched cats euthanized in their bellies. I've held healthy pure bred dogs while they were put down. Am I doing something here? Yes, thousands of people read these posts, probably more than watch my shows. I love your questions. People DO try to pass spay neuter laws THAT ALLOW breeding, yet breeders lie and tell everyone to vote NO.

  • No matter what you choose, no matter how many strays people take in, there will always be irresponsible people in the world to make more.

It's a problem you can't fix. Just like you can't fix world hunger and you can't fix world peace. That's just a fairy tale. I'm sorry you don't see the world realistically.

  • Actually I agree with you except for one thing. You can make a difference. The problem is not abstract. For EACH ONE of your exotics one stray WILL die. It's not maybe. So adopt instead of buy. It will make a difference to at least those few - and to the ones you encourage others to adopt.

  • I still think you're viewing the world in a fairy tale like state.

Let's say I adopt a cat. I get my friends to all adopt a cat. Hell, the whole world adopts a cat. Now there are no more stray cats... guess what.... the idiot down the street didn't fix his cat and has let it breed two times and now has more cats than they can handle.

Thus, more stray cats. See my point? Saving one does not = saving all. It's a problem no one can fix. That's just naive.

  • If we choose a stray, a stray WILL also die...

There is too many people who don't fix their cats.

And if everyone stopped buying the fancy cats, suddenly there will be fany cat strays...

    Honest to god.

  • I'd like to reply to you but I honestly don't know what you're saying. Could you re-phrase it? Thanks.

  • @sesshygal And I wonder why people hid this. Oh, that's right, the STUPID people hid that comment! I gotta agree wit you. Everyone that I look at doesn't agree with the Toyger.

  • I'm not sure if it's a matter of there not being enough homes, or if it's just made too expensive to look after pets properly.

My house would be a petting zoo if I could afford to take GOOD care of that many animals.

  • Uhmm... balls dont drop when you're born.

Regardless how old you are you might want to use that computer a little more wisely and actually read something educational.

  • I suppose every breed of dog (including Dalmatians, GSDs, Labradors) and every breed of cat (Persians, American Curls, Russian Blues) are all mutant freaks created by people "playing God." In fact, Moses using his sheep dog was "playing God" because he bred his dogs to be the way they were.

Every domestic animal was bred to be a certain way. Every breed created was bred to do a certain job or have a certain appearance. Most breeds are made up of many other older breeds. Think before you type.

  • My cat looks like a tiger! :)

  • cute, i'd buy that but not now. they should introduce ORANGE tabbies into the mix. i mean, if you want the cat more tiger like, make it freaking orange...

  • I have a toyger 3year old named boreas I aopted from a breeder he's huge 26lbs and supper sweet loves the water and walks with a harness in the park every week he is very tiger like and big boned cat .Very happy to have him he's not just a tabby cat with a big price tag if you dont own one then you really don't know

  • I own a Toyger! her name is Luppi =3 she is very cute, she loos just like a miny tiger! lolzz =3

  • Like the arrancar?

  • OMG!! YES lol, glad u watch Bleach, except Luppi is actually a boy...but o well...lol

  • After they get the Toyger cat to look ideal, they need to start breeding to make a Whiite Toyger.....then make a Loyon..a cat that looks like a lion, I bet it'd be hard to make them form a mane lol

  • I want a Toyger so fuggin' bad!!

  • "The Toyger Cat is a designer cat for the modern age."

It's kind of sad that we even have anything that would fit under that description.

  • i agree with you, daph and whoever thumbs downed you is a fucking asshole frankly, cats arent designer hand bags its fucking stupid that theyre being called designer pets

  • so you think whining on you tube is gonna help instead of complaining do something to make a change or shut up. i dont agree with this but just cause paople bitch doesn't mean rich assholes are gonna stop this kind of act. tards

  • cool, tell me more

  • If they used the Bobcat's face (specifically those cool fluffy cheeks) they could get it to look even more like smaller sized replica of a tiger.

  • That is just so cool, these breeders are amazing! Artificial selection is just amazing! Once they reach the image that they're looking for, I'll be sure to go and get one! :D

So cool! Good luck, awesome breeders!

  • my cat basically looks like this already

  • I like the idea of Toyger. I've always wanted to have lion or tiger as a pet which is impossible but Toyger is somewhat perfect to fulfill my long time thought to be a foolish idea. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who has this idea and I thank people who spent time and effort on making this breed. :)

  • I know what it's like to have a long time fantasy about a pet. But, at some point you have to realize that your desire is not as important as the FACT that there aren't enough homes for the pets we already have in shelters. After all the shelter animals have homes, we can breed however we like.

  • @jcisbell : by your logic Humans shouldn't reproduce until all homeless people are in homes.

  • I can see why you might think that - but consider: Humans have choices, cats were bred without a choice by humans, that makes us responsible. Furthermore, we do not euthanize homeless people by the million.

  • Yes, truth. If you want a cat (or dog, or any other pet) give the shelters a chance.

  • the idea of breeding tigers to the size of a house cat is just plain stupid...my thoughts

  • that's why people don't these cats are just crossed with bengals.

  • and i mean bengal cats not bengal tigers theres no relation between the two, begnal cats are an asian jungle leopard and domestic hybrid developed in the 70s if you didnt know

  • their not actually tigers, they just resemble them

  • since they are hybrid cats, dont they get sick easily? for example, the white bengal tiger...they arent supposed to be white, they are hybrids, thus unhealthy cats and need a lot more medical attention that normal bengal tigers. Does that also effect they hybrid "toygers" and also the "asher" hybrid cats?

  • Look up "Hybrid vigor". Hybrid's are often LESS susceptible to disease.

  • wait until that cat gets older then its gonna whoop some ass on everyone

  • those are pictures of bengal cats and are not bred from tigers!!!

  • They are not bengal pictures. Bengal cats do not have stripes.

  • i see the difference now...thanks...just got a bengal cat from a breeder and wanted to learn more...sorry for the confusion...but i will keep the comment on here in case antone thinks what i did

  • Pretty sad if you ask me. People are designing nature, consumers are willing to pay thousands for a cat when the humane shelter down the road has a $75 dollar adoption fee for cats that have had a rough past and need love and a home now.

  • I agree, we've had enough messing and there are now enough cat and dog breeds to suit anyone. Adopt animals from the shelters! They need you more than you need some fancy cat looking just like your gran's porcelaine figure

  • @GreenMonkeyToaster I agree. As pretty as these cats are,my Tiger--an adopted stray tabby that I hand raised--is just as pretty and lovable.

  • you made this comment a while back

Pretty sad if you ask me. People are designing nature, consumers are willing to pay thousands for a cat when the humane shelter down the road has a $75 dollar adoption fee for cats that have had a rough past and need love and a home now.

i couldnt agree with you more messiah

  • We've been doing it with dogs and plants for at least a thousand years now. We just have science to do it faster... is it okay to do? I don't know.

  • $75 is too much for garbage man

  • cool enjoy your genetically mutated designer gucci cat you fucking faggot douche bag cunt

  • no muse

  • why do people mess so much with nature? who gives us the right to experiment with animal lives? won't an ordinary domestic cat do? there are people starving to death and others spend 28.000$ dollars on some crazy scientist's "product"!

  • What do think an "ordinary domestic cat" is? Nature doesn't need humans to mess with it. It is perfectly capable of messing with itself.

  • I should point out that these cats have very minimal (if at all) wild blood in them. They are just tabby cats with orange background fur and dark striping. You could easily breed a whitiesh cat with grey stripes or orange stripes if you so desired, it would just take a lot of time and a lot of kittens. Chill out a little.

  • I'm not being nasty, but the dogs and cats we all love are all made from careful breeding. It all started with 5 cats in africa and some wolves in that were tamed. That's how we have the large array of dogs, through breeding.

I agree though, I think enough is enough. As long as it's just breeding it's not so bad tho I suppose, just keep hormones and altering drugs out of the picture cos that OS messing with nature

  • doesn't really look like a tiger except for the markings, can't wait until they further develop it I heard it's going to start getting the Tiger facial characteristics by 2010

  • It just looks like a tabby cat to me

  • you know whats funny? i just recntley got a kitten, his name is kira, and he has the most beautiful markings and colors, and everyone whos seen him agrees, the funny part is his mom and all his siblings were pure black, there was no careful breeding involved and, he was FREE

  • omg, my name is kira so that is so awesome!!!!!and i wish i had a kitten..

  • maybe the mother and siblings HAD markings but the background was black too? Cos if you check out the black panther in the right lighting you can see leopard spots. Funny huh?

  • I wonder if they have a white Toyger....=)

  • Don't think I could pay that much for a cat. Granted, I love cats and have had them as long as I can remember, but I still don't think it's worth it. I'd personally prefer a Bengal or Ocicat. Now, as for a breed that should never had been bread, I'd say the Ragdoll. A cat with no defense mechanism is a bad idea. Currently have an American Short-hair, who is the best cat I've ever had, and he was from the SPCA. He can be spiteful sometimes, but overall a nice cat. Wouldn't trade him for anything.

  • I have two of these cats, they are amazing!

  • oh yeah because you dropped 44,000-56,000 looks like your parents rather have toygers then your college education

  • I have known about these for about 5 years, in 2010 i'm getting one for my b-day (woot!) but still i must wait until then.

  • What does it mean by it should have white around the eyes, dark stripes...It's a cat let it be! Designer cat?! Who's idea was that! All cats are bueatifull =[ I have had many tabbys and they are all Gorgeous! *sob* don't make more cats that people will eventually discard. My tabby kitten was found in a plastic bag on the side of the street...What will become of these? I have never had a pure breed cat. And all the stray cats I've had have stolen my heart.

  • I WANT ONE BUT ITS EXPENSIVE :( £2,500

  • if you are a cat lover go to the animal shelter and adopt!!!!! for every bred cat a beautiful cat or kitten is euthanized!!!

  • Your right

  • I shall do both. =) bought or not, the cats will still exist.

  • how much r they

  • Hi, I believe the price is about $1000 (£500) to about $4000 (£2000) depending on how near the breed standard the cat is.

  • thanx dont think i wil b gettin one of them then

  • Hi, Nor me!

  • lol

  • So basically mackerel tabbies are in demand now... don't pay thousands of dollars for these common household cats, go to the animal shelter, they are over run with them.

  • if you read the standard you would know that they are trying for a patern that is not mackeral.

  • That isn't the point. I just mean that there are so many animals who need homes that should be considered first.

  • Amazing looking cat.

  • Toyger

    'Toy' 'Tiger'

Animal's aint effin toys, animals shouldn't be used for fashion either. There's nothing wrong with a normal cat or kitten in the shelters.

  • McLilo

You've got a good point, which I understand. Thanks for the comment.

    Regards

    Michael

  • yeah too bad what you said IS completely pointless since they're still going to sell em. we're getting some, woo. haha

  • you made my usual comment for me.

  • Actually as a Toyger Breeder, I need correct...Judy's cattery is Eeyaa as opposed to Eetaa in the video

  • I appreciate the correction. This must have been a typo, despite the desire to be careful. I can't change it now as it would mean starting afresh. Your comment will hopefully do the job.

  • Just want to make sure folks know the correct cattery...Have seen more serious typos...just a note..not a biggie

  • there so cute and wonderful where do you get the pictures??
