Philco was kind of funny in the output tube department. Example, the 116B sets used 42s in P-P, yet the 116X(console version) used 6A3 in P-P. Philco was probably one of the few if not the only one using 41s in 1940. Most manufactures had moved on to the octal version 6F6 6V6 6L6 etc. etc.
Yeah it's a rare day when you don't have to replace at least a few of the wires. But, all manufactures of this era suffered from the poor quality rubber used. I've had to re-cover the wiring in many Zeniths of this era, as well as a few Detrola's, Stromberg-Carlsons, etc.
@jakeyloser . what year. is your philco 40-190.? I have a philco 40-155. table top radio. that look's just like the one ,you have thare. did you. restore this. your self?.

just finished restoring a 1954 Philco Radiogram using a BSR deck and sounds good.

Just bought idnetical console. It works but I guess it needs fine tuning to be just like yours.
For the moment I look at the cabinet (excellent condition) and gee it is marvelous!

True, can be a nightmare. The rubber wiring in this one is good. One of the few I've run across that wasn't crumbling.

Almost all the rubber wire on my 40-180 chassis had to be replaced. The 40-180 has PP 41's. Nice set.
