If you have not that much money - is there a good but cheap amp you can use for acoustic and e-guitar? what do i have to look for, what are the important features to use one amp for both? what amount of watt is a good choice for that ? 15, 20, 30 ?!? ... thx 4 helping me out
guys help me please. im planing on buying elec-guitar and amp, ive never bought any before but i know how to play guitar tho . anyways , im looking for amp that is small and cheap that has distortion sound for playing metal songs and stuff but also great at playing other style. and what is effect paddle and do we need that to have distortion sound or is it just a switch from clean to distortion .. im very lost in this kinda thing ..
@guitarmessiah95 good amp and bad/okay guitar believe me, i have a marshall mg100dfx amp and a friend of mine had a squier set with amp, when he played his squire in my amp he said it sounded like 10 times better than his squier amp
As far as I know watts have nothing to do how loud the sound is. Watt measures the rate of energy conversion. For example an electric radiator is 700 watts and it does not make a sound. Look at dB (decibel) is used to measure sound pressure levels.
You can buy a guitar equalizer pedal. Boss makes one for about 100 dollars. Just set the Low and High controls on 5 and then find your tone on the pedal.
drive is a term we use for when a gutar amps sound is 'broken up' or distorting.
Gain is the amount of volume going into the signal path, where the master is the volume going out of the amp. High gain means lots of volume entering the amps tone controls. When you have lots of gain going into a tube (valve) amp, it causes the preamp tubes to overdrive, creating a distorted sound.
Mesa/Boogie gets their crazy distortion through cascading gain, maxing out several preamp tubes with gain.
it would have been nice to see this video a little sooner. with my little knowledge about amps I assumed most decent amps were around 100 to 150 watts and i purchased a 180 watt amp that i thought would be good for gigs. it is much to big and dosent sound very good when its turned down so much. learn from my mistake please
I am having trouble with my amp and im wondering can anyone help. It is a BB Blaster BB10 10w practice amp. It came free with my first guitar. Anyway, when I turn it on and plug in my guitar (Squier Strat), there is a loud buzzing noise which gets louder when i touch the strings. Your help would be much appreciated.
If you have the gain all the way up, then there will be a lot of distortion feedback. Turn the gain down and see if it's still buzzing a lot. I also have a Squire( They're very bad guitars imo, but good for beginners), change the pick to the 2 and 4 humbucker positions. Anyways, keep learning and save up for a better amp.
take off the scratch plate on your strat and stick a large square of tin foil there with double sided tape then screw it back on... the tin foil absorbs the electrical and magnetic interference from the pickups. this works a treat on all guitars and stops the hum and loud volumes and on high distortion.
Is it ok to just completely remove the reverb tank? Just like unhook the 2 RCA cables and take it out? Or will this damage the amp? I cant believe it would but I'd like to know before I try it. Someone please respond..
i don't know too much about amps but i know electrical. it could work, but i wouldn't recommend trying it. you might either not get a good sound out of it ir you might fry some cables. but again, i don't know amps much.
Hey, I have a Spider line 6, have a little problem with it. The jack on the amp, the place where the cord goes into the amp... there's nothing there. It's just a hole, and I suspect that the jack itself has gone inside the amp. Anybody know how I can fix this/get it out?
you unscrew the chassis and find where it went. (the little screws that hold the tray with the knobs and stuff). Then you find it... and if the screw is stripped you have to buy a new input jack and just solder it into the place.
Spider valve II line 6 is what i got..I think thats the name, i would have to go look, But i Paid quite abit for it But hell the lowest level in volume is like Pretty loud, First day i got it i turned it a quarter of the way up, I played half way through one song about 10 minutes later i got a disturbing the peace charge, not recommended for people with Bitch neighbors
I hear ya man neighbors suk. I live in ga with a triple rect. and live on 50-60 acres slap in the middle. Took the triple aimed out to field, had my girl go out to the end of the property line. Im not sure if you can hook up a head to a combo but you can hook up the mesa express to a cab.
And if your looking into the Mesa express series, They are awsome. I bought 5:25 last month and I love it: I wanted to tell you that you don´t need all the power in the 5:50 i mean 25W isn´t a high number of watts but it is really loud and you can play in a garage band with that amp with the level at 9 to 12 o'clock + the 5:25 is a lot smaller and lighter and easier to carry around.

The standby just allows your amplifier to utilize partial power (standby) to warm up the filament in your tubes so you don't wear them out as quickly; turn it on when they're somewhat warm (after about a minute).
try standing away from the amp. I cant rmember what causes technically but its something like the pickups pick up the sound from the amp and play it back out again if you know what i meen. OR it may be just the quality of the amp. i had a 30 watt a while ago and it just buzzed constantly when overdrive was selected. Hope i helped!
I think Line 6 is the worst choice when buying an amp. They make it sound cool by telling you it's a 'modeling-amp', and 'It's sounds like every great amp all in one!' Not true, they don't.
Line6 fans: don't hate me for saying this. It's just my opinion based on experience.

Nice videos still Justin! But I really don't get that tasmanian devil there lol ^^ Hey guys, now that we are talking bout amps, I'd like to ask: I have this 700w Home theatre with 5 speakers and a sub, so should I try to connect it to my Boss ME-50 pedal, where I can get all the disortion and echo sounds, if it's possible? Or do you know it already if it is possible or not? Cheers mates, like the Englishmen say! =)
the "amp wall" of the band Slayer isn't real either. :p
I have a Marshall mg100hdfx (100watt halfstack) but that's also because I think it has a better sound than some of its lower wattage versions. (I've played the 30, 50, and 100 watt versions.) My previous amp that I used for 3 years was a Roland Cube 15. (15watts)
thx thx i was wondering bout that stuff....umm...next time can you talk bout the brands and wat not like....which models and brands you use are your reviews?
Hi Justin!

if i got a line 6 head, would it work with a blackstar cabinet?
DivineSkulls 2 years ago
Yep, just make sure you set the right impedance. Most heads give you a choice between 4, 8 or 16 Ohm.
I you you use one cabinet of 16 ohm you set it to 16 obviously. If you are using two 16 ohm cabinets, you'll have to set your head preset on 8 ohm.

This is a question I seem to run into allot.
I currently have a 15Watt Vox amp, its nice, but... it doesnt really have clean or dirty type of settings... its just pre-set channels - hate it.
I really want a 5:50 express Mesa 2:12 amp, figuring it would be great to play with a garage band as well as gigs.
My question comes in at, is it possible to hook up combo amps to cabs?
and to put it one further, is it possible to hook up an amp head to a combo?
Creamlistner 3 years ago
Im not sure if you can hook up a head to a combo but you can hook up the mesa express to a cab.
And if your looking into the Mesa express series, They are awsome. I bought 5:25 last month and I love it: I wanted to tell you that you don´t need all the power in the 5:50 i mean 25W isn´t a high number of watts but it is really loud and you can play in a garage band with that amp with the level at 9 to 12 o'clock + the 5:25 is a lot smaller and lighter and easier to carry around.

Good price, good sound, won't break the bank.

Fourthemasses: Hell yeah, I've got the same amp, it can go from classic rock to heavy f*cking metal by the turn of a knob, its an awesome amp.
jernov 3 years ago
Nice videos still Justin! But I really don't get that tasmanian devil there lol ^^ Hey guys, now that we are talking bout amps, I'd like to ask: I have this 700w Home theatre with 5 speakers and a sub, so should I try to connect it to my Boss ME-50 pedal, where I can get all the disortion and echo sounds, if it's possible? Or do you know it already if it is possible or not? Cheers mates, like the Englishmen say! =)
locx91 3 years ago
yes its possible. just plug it in, u might need a convertor for that.
freyan147 3 years ago
DO NOT PLUG UR GUITAR INTO YOUR HIFI OR HOME THEATRE SPEAKERS - COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TYPE OF AMP SPECS - the guitar output will kill ur speakers.
Use ONLY a purpose-designed guitar amp and speaker!
mallamoozoo 3 years ago
Spend a few notes on a mini-mixer. Connect the pedal to the mixer, then the mixer to your hi-fi.
mallott2402 3 years ago
Oh right. Ok, I'll be looking for them, thanks guys!

the "amp wall" of the band Slayer isn't real either. :p
I have a Marshall mg100hdfx (100watt halfstack) but that's also because I think it has a better sound than some of its lower wattage versions. (I've played the 30, 50, and 100 watt versions.) My previous amp that I used for 3 years was a Roland Cube 15. (15watts)
jernov 3 years ago
Roland Cube 15 are not 15 watts, just because of the name. Look at the back of you'r amp and you will see that it's actually 18 watts! :)
MikaelLV 3 years ago 2
Yeah, I know :p They're sold as 15 watt amps, but in reality their output may be slightly higher.
I have a 20 watt amp which is actually 26 watts.
My roland cube 15 is indeed 18 watts. :p

what do i do if my amp does a static sound its a yamaha amp
