sorry guy but no RS ever came from the factory with a V8, and 87 was the first year the RS was produced it took place of the berlinetta, even though the berlinetta was the top of the line with the gold rims and badges, digital gauges, ect ect, the RS wasnt to its standard. u may be confused with the sport coupe RS and just the regular sport coupe, if ya dont believe me just got to thirdgen.org

Bullshit. The RS was offered with an optional 305 V8. The base 305 TBI (throttle body injection) was an option for the RS. RS was available in '87, but *only* as a limited edition. '88 had no RS (and no Z28, for that matter - the only options were the base Camaro and IROC-Z. Z28 didn't return until '91.)

Let me try this again: There was *no* Camaro Rally Sport in 1988 - the ONLY options were Camaro coupe and IROC-Z. The coupe was NOT considered the RS for that year; it would have been designated as 'RS' if that were the case.

RS was available in '87 (as a limited edition in California) and from '89-'92. Base Camaro and LT were available in '87. The LG4 305 was an option for the LT in '87, but not for the California RS (which had the LB8 V6).

@codywindsor12 RS is an appearance package that came on the V6 as well as the 305ci 5.0L V8. If you look at the side skirts you will either see the hold in the molding or not, that will tell you if it is a V6 or V8. This happens to be the V8 model. The Top of the line came with the 350ci 5.7L V8

The only way to tell what engine came with the car is to find the RPO code (found on a SPID label in the center console or in the rear storage compartment).
