  • Excellent job. I can almost smell the ozone from the arcing electricity mixing with the salt air, reminding me of my trip there in '98. Long live the Blackpool trams.

  • @billc226 Thanks for your comment.

The sounds and smells of Blackpool trams will be missed.

  • Excellent quality filming, video, footage, camerawork etc etc. Been a pleasure to watch, Thank you, keep up the great work, you've done those trams proud.

  • @Bevoin1970 Thanks for your kind comments and glad you liked the video.

  • @ 1:51 OH YEAH

  • you been up the the new depot yet if you have can you uplaod a video?

  • @mistert0715 I have some clips of the new depot on the Tramway upgrade video's for November and the Dec-January video.

  • Wow, what a great video! It is just so brilliantly put together and the end part was just ...... well WOW! Keep these great videos coming in the future!

  • @ABZScotrail170 Thank you for your kind comments and glad you liked the video.

  • @ABZScotrail170 Thank you for your kind comments and glad you liked the video.

  • Another great video I could watch these all day and never tire of them. The information you provide to everyone is really helpful.

  • @kirk8472 Thank you for your kind comments and glad you liked the video.

  • Hi I've heard that along with the 16 new trams that there will be 10 moded balloons and a few centenary trams swell in service, is that true as if it is then great !

  • @normandytrooper As far as I know there will be 9 Balloons possibly 10.

This reported to be the last season for Centenary cars, Blackpool Transport will be glad to see the back of them due to the reliability problems with these trams.

There will be some other heritage trams kept on but will be restricted in use.

  • Excellent and well put together video! A joy to watch. Good to see the tramway has progessed well in the upgrade.

Balloon 710 was in the procession at Fleetwood Festival of Transport and then was on display on Bold Street.

  • @stuvids Thank you stuvids for your comments.

Was mad enough to go to Rigby Road at Five o'clock Sunday morning, was due to leave around 5.30am but trailer developed a break fault.

Once repair had been done Balloon 710 final left Rigby Road at 07.28 in the rain, which was annoying as it was rain free at 5.30am.

Also managed to miss it on the procession but did get it leaving Fleetwood at 16.32.

Did ask a guy in charge of Balloon 710 as to where it was being stored but he would not say.

  • Nice of you to think of me when filming, much appreciated.

    Cam.

  • @FishyCam Always nice to hear suggestions and feed back of videos.

  • Another great video, thanks. Great to see a bit of the comedy carpet and the new road layout at the Metropole. Cam.

  • @FishyCam As you had mentioned the Comedy Carpet in a previous message I thought I would try and get it into the next video, the best way to do this was from a Balloon tram heading north.

    Thanks for your kind comments.

  • Well i certainly wasn't expecting to see Balloon 710 (aka The Alan Bradley tram). I was led to believe that she was in a museum somewhere. Also was not expecting to see Balloon 700, i thought that she was hiding in shame after suffering the injustice of being modernised. :)

But once again you provide us with another excellent update and as always i look forward to the next. Thank you.

  • @RLMadison Thank you for your kind comments.

Balloon 710 left Rigby Road this morning around 07.20am, originally was leaving around 05.30am but trailer developed an air leak and required a mechanic.

Balloon 710 was ment to be exhibited at the Euston Hotel, Fleetwood for tram Sunday but is now sitting at Fisherman's Walk.

  • I don't mean crashed into the brick railings I mean one tyre went in the ground and the other on the line and then stoped, and when the recovery truck came in got stuck! So it made a right mess of the tram time table ,

  • Yea I remember a few years ago a car was in the lane beside the hotel going towards bispham direction and instead off going round the corner and then going back on the road he / she went around the corner and drove straight up the tram line and crashed lol

  • I see they have changed the road layout where you used to be able to drive on the track going round the corner

  • @normandytrooper The road layout is a lot better for the trams, as quite often I use to car drivers cutting up the trams. I guess a lot these drivers don't seem to realise that a tram can't stop straight away.

  • Yeah I heard that stena line closed , thats crazy not putting it under cover and your right it should be left at rigby road and then if it's the fleetwood tram associations then would that mean they will have it on the track in future? I wonder what condition it is in on the inside? thats a bit stupid leaving it to at the docks :(

  • @normandytrooper I did see two people today cleaning the inside of the tram and it also has the old dome from the western train inside the tram.

  • Excellent video and i cant wait to see the footage from tram sunday So how far are the trams going to now ?

  • @normandytrooper The trams only go as far as Little Bispham and this may be the case until the end of August.

    Thanks for your comment mormandytrooper.

  • Aww what a sad sight @1:16 where exactly do these trams go to?

  • @normandytrooper Balloon 710 belongs to Friends of Fleetwood Trams and will be appearing at Tram Sunday, which means it will be the only tram at this event.

The tram will then go into storage, possibly Fleetwood docks which has no cover.

I think this tram would have been better staying at Rigby Road until better storage space was found, lets hope it survives the elements.

  • Were you there when 710 was loaded on to the low loader?

I was cycling the whole track and stopped to watch for a bit.

  • @nightw4tchman Unfortunately I was still travelling home from work, they were securing it to the trailer when I arrived.

  • Nice video yet again Balloon 719 weren't half flooring it at 4:54

  • @suncoolclose This must be the only part of the track where trams can get up a bit of speed.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • @dalrigh Yes looked to be going over the 30mph limit

  • @suncoolclose It would be interesting to know what the top speed is on these trams.

I noticed that when 715 floors it the tram shakes around a lot.

  • @dalrigh I bet its 40 or 50mph like most trams but the limit is only 30mph in that straight line on track ud of thought 40mph would be possible but the track is jointed and old as you said it shakes a lot if he-she speeds

  • Good to see 710 running under her own power, albeit just for shunting around the depot! :) Can't wait to see the old girl at Fleetwood tomorrow! :D

  • @37057viking As I have only been into the trams for a couple of years this was the first time I have seen Balloon 710 under it's own power.

710 is still on a low loader by the side of the works, apparently it will be departing around 5.30am Sunday morning.

  • @dalrigh Ouch! Don't fancy getting up at the crack of dawn to get a phot! But then again, it's a Sunday with a Sunday service on the buses so unless I had a car (which I don't) it's impossible anyway! lol I think I'll wait until Fleetwood! lol

  • Very good

  • @nicholasanderson55 Thanks for your kind comment.

  • A sad shame that tomorrow's Tram Sunday (17/07/2011) will be a whole lot different than in recent years, but I'm still going to be there regardless (even if I have to catch a bus from Fleetwood Ferry to as close as Little Bispham as possible). Looking forward to it already, including the mandatory fish & chips from the Granada Bar in Fleetwood Lord Street!

Anyway, thanks for the taster; fantastic stuff as ever.

  • @theamateurbasher Thanks for your kind comment and hope you have a good day tomorrow.
