  • this is a recall part ,,,,,ford pays $760 to be fixed or they will fix it free,,,,,

  • I have a 97 T-bird w/ a 4.6l. Do I have to remove the alternator to replace the intake? I have the new intake, but the plastic cracked just below the thermostat housing. Coolant was shooting out at a very high pressure. I like Fords, but they just went down in my book a few points. Plastic? Wow. I couldn' t believe it.

  • @tjharris81 the same thing happen to my crown vic 5 months ago. Go to autozone and ask for the intake. They run between $194 to $220. Alot of people dont know this but go to americanmuscle and look it up its even cheaper price.

  • i have to do the same thing but this is my first time.. did you use any sealant? and im glad i watched this, i almost removed my alternator.

  • I like the song lolol, but I have to do the same and replace intake manifold gaskets on my 84 Monte Carlo

  • Oh goody, I get to do this soon. I blew up the coolant crossover doing a lil 0-60 test. Thats what I get for beating on a car that has never been over 50 its whole life

  • @xcracer2

cause no one likes dumb lil 4cylinder europe cars! their anoying!

  • Why you bother watching if you dont like it.

  • Genius...Disconnecting fuel line/injectors and smoking...

  • Cigarettes aren't hot enough to ignite gasoline. I'd be pissed if someone got ash in my engine bay though!

  • This isn't "puddle of mudd" stupid Youtube, its DAFT PUNK

  • You do realize Puddle of Mudd comes in at 3:45 right?

  • yer a idiot, fully read the guys comment B4 opening your retarded mouth..

  • fairly easy job. i did it three times on my old 99 cvpi. i learned the hard way not to use used parts....

  • Good work! Mines recently cracked on my 99 but I'm not about to pay an arm and a leg to get it fixed! I will do it myself.

  • Good Luck. Make sure you get all the torque specs and don't pinch the gasket, and check for vacum leaks after.

  • How do they crack? Is the cause of over heating?

  • They are made of cheap plastic and over time they crack. The new intakes replace the plastic runner the water flows throu with a cast aluminum runner. I.E. It should have been made of aluminum in the first place.

  • What years have this plastic intake? Did they stop using it after a certain year?

  • 1996-2002 I think

  • That is good news because I have a 95 Town Car and an 03 Grand Marquis that both have this type engine. Thanks

  • @KillerKaprice is that shit covered in a tsb seem to me it should be covered for there shity engineering.

  • @KillerKaprice I know im very late with this comment but i have a 97 marquis and it needs a intake manifold replacement is it compatible to the 98 and newer models???

  • I didn't see you use a torque wrench on those intake bolts. Screw 'em down too tight and you'll crack the gasket. Then you'll have coolant spewing out that sumbitch.

  • note that it says part one that was on part 2 before my old computer died and I lost the vid.

  • aww man that sucks

  • the intake in our 97 cracked, and destroyed our fuel injectors, ford really got worse first it was those bean cans now its plastic intakes. GM kicks ass (metal parts)

  • Replacing that intake looks like a real pain-in-the-ass. Expensive too. Good work man.

  • Dude, are you smoking while working on the car? Maybe that's why my car smells like cigarettes after I get it back from the shop! LOL. Keep up the good work dude.

  • Like my father always says, ACAJ... all cars are junk. We've owned ford, GM and Mopar. They will all have issues at some point, and if they are well maintained they will last a long time. I have only owned GMs, but my brother has woned ford and dodge. His dodge and ford have been great, I have had mixed luck with GM. I know ppl with Hondas and Toyotas with major issues. It's mechanical, it's going to need maintenance.

  • good video, like the music, especially CoLd. my buddy's marquis had the same problem with the plastic manifold cracking. Glad my marquis is a 1992 with the all aluminum intake manifold

  • make me a video in close detail formy 2000 vic

    i will pay $

  • what are signs of intake problems? i just got a 93 grand marquis with 93k on it

  • nothing really it usually just blows a hole in it

  • The intakes were fine till 95. Thats when they started the initial "cheapening up." The new ones are not to great either.

  • Plastic intakes suck

  • You want to see a POS? check out GM, they can't seal an intake to save their life. I'd do a 4.6 ford intake over a 3.1 GM anyday... Much more common on the GM's too.

  • yeah but were talkin v-8s id much rather work on an LS based engine or an LT-1 than a 4.6 or 5.4 modular motor

  • GM's V8's don't have the best intakes either, they leak too.

Also you don't have to remove the fuel rail with the intake - just set it aside, might save ya a few minutes... Nice video.

  • thank you but if you mean remove the fuel lines off of the 4.6 it's a whole lot simpler to just take the quick disconnect tool and disconnect the fuel lines trust me I'm a factory ford tech I've done a few let's just say i could have made this vid 4-5 times over.

  • GM still makes POS cars.

  • And your mom still makes POS kids obviously

  • aww man thats some cold crap. I said GM and you brought my mom into this. How you just gonna hit me below the belt like that? It doesnt matter anyway punk FORD WINS!!!!!!!!!!! GM and Chrysler are finished. Caprices suck anyway I've never lost to a caprice in my vic and I never will.

  • oh come on now there was just a little bullshit in what you said right a police caprice vs a police vic no matter the year the caprice will own. Don't belive me ask you local law inforcement bet ya they tell ya the wish the had a caprice "not a gutless Crown Vic" <<that is quoted from a NHP(nevada highway patrol) officer he wanted a new charger but the NHP thought they were to fast for rookie drivers (just like a caprice) go on ask um. you vic is fast throu1st and a dog through the rest

  • hahaha burn that was funny

  • I had a 3.1 with intake and head gasket issues. Otherwise it was a good engine. i had 250k miles before getting rid of the car. no oil burning, was in good shape. I wish GM solved the intake problem long ago, they knew about it for years and years.

  • cool vid pos fords i run them over with my wrangler mopar or no car

  • So if the front part where the radiator hose goes into is metal then im set right cuz thats wat i have and it looks very similar to that?

  • i just changed my dads intake on his 96 crown vic it cracked right behind the alternator took me 3hrs do do the hole job torced to spec and all.

  • dude mine just cracked @ 95,200 miles on the 4th of july in my 97 crown vic. I think I warped the heads I got a new car Im thinking about junking this car considering the fact that a new engine costs more than the car value , and among other things the transmission is on borrowed time.

  • Great idea wit the camera like the work
