what's the difference between á and à? they sound so similir.

@moh459 there is no difference in pronunciation. the difference is what each one represent. when you see "á" in a word, it means it is the strongest syllable, like in the word "fantástico", you must pronounce fanTÁStico, and not FANtastico or fantasTIco.

@moh459 "à" is the preposition "a" plus the article "a". for exemple, the verb "ir" (to go). let's pretend you would like to translate "peter goes to the gym". note we have a preposition (to) and an article (the). "academia" (gym) is a feminine noun, so the sentence would be like "peter vai a a academia". but you can't write that, it's strange! so swift "a a" to "à". "peter vai à academia".

@ugartinoAB That's just an excuse.  You're saying people are too stupid to learn more complex pronunciations. Spanish is a good starter language, though

@ugartinoAB You are right, but Brazilian Portuguese is much more beautiful than Spanish. Spanish is phonetically poor. This "ambiguity" makes Portuguese more intrincate, misterious, DELICIOUS.... lol
