The main thing is to do whatever works for you, obviously the easier solos I wouldn't even switch to lower frets.
However, it helps to get in the habit. You build up muscle memory of where the frets are and can switch faster without looking down at your hand placement. Which is helpful when dealing with songs where you need to strum fast, but then need to switch one hand to the lower frets to get a tricky part.
In the guitar solo's in Foreplay/Long Time, I'd switch between top and bottom frets 2-3 times in one solo and can get 100%.
It also helps to switch to the top frets at the end of a solo so you can get straight into the next section without having to immediately bring one hand up to the frets, and the other down to the strum bar.
It all comes with practice, and for most songs, I experiment different methods for at least 30 minutes until I find whats right for me.
By finger tapping do you mean using the lower frets, or doing something complicated like holding down one fret while moving a hand over to press others?
I usually use lower frets no matter what in solos, but I only finger tap on parts I can't do without changing hand placement (which would be just on the tricky parts)
@Coolness123321123 - Just use one hand for 95% of the solos, the 5% that need two hands to FC just blunder through them with one hand if you can't tap using top frets.
Just to let you know, I beat train kept a rollin' (YEAH!) and i've almost beaten flirtin' with disaster. GGHT will take a while to beat though. But your right. I practiced it a lot, and it's definitly geting easier. I had the same problem with the Outside intro but I practiced it a lot and now I can do it. Thanks for the tip! :)
thanks, i've only got rb a week ago and i'm doing expert guitar but i still can't beat green grass and high tides, train kept a rollin', and flirtin' with disaster. But my problem is not tapping on the solos its pulling off/hammering on on the non-solo really fast parts. Like the fast part before the first and second green grass and high tides' solos. Can you make a video on how to do this better? Nice vids by the way. :)
Go into Practice mode and write down what parts you are talking about if you could.
Although, most HoPo's just require practice and there's really nothing much I could tell you.
If you have played Guitar Hero before, you'll just need to get used to the difference in timing for HoPo's. RB is much tighter.
If you haven't played Guitar Hero, and you're already on Expert, geez, your a very fast learner. Just keep practicing, but if I know what part it is, I'll see if I can help.
For green grass and high tides on practice mode I just can't get the section it calls "Fast Part" and for flirtin' with disaster the section is called "Chorus 1a,2a,3a" (because they're all the same). And no i don't have guitar hero but i played with my friend on his rb. But even then I could play medium. I have definitly improved since I got the game.I geuss your right and the answer is just practice.
P.S. But its really annoying for green grass and high tides because it's so long.
That's cheating! lol good to know.

@CityRuler1 I do believe you are missing the point of the video, considering it will work with any game system...

Why is there a rubber band on your whammy bar?
MedievalEscaper 2 years ago
The spring inside the guitar that makes the whammy bar pop up broke.
So I used a rubber band to hold it whammy bar up.

what?! finger-tap on a real guitar you losers
raygundoig 2 years ago
Only if you finger tap on a Rock Band Guitar.
I think thats a pretty fair trade.

Finger tap meant using the lower frets during every solo, which you answered. :] That's cool.

Yeah I just wanted to know how you did it.
I can play very well and such. I've got some pretty high placed scores and fc's.

Awh, no solo C from Two Weeks? Sadface.
Curious, do you find it easier to finger tap while playing in the songs for the whole solo, or for only the tricky enough parts of solos?

Alright, I'll take a look at it right now, and if there's anything I can see to help with, I'll let you know in an hour or so.
Also, I completely know what you mean, I've been playing since Guitar Hero 1 so I've had a lot of time to practice.
