  • I remember Joe transcribing Paganini violin works for the guitarist back in the late 1960s.. Excellence in the Classical as well as jazz repertoire. Believe it or not, he's also a bible scholar.

  • @Rudolph03 yeah, I keep bugging him to do a video of Paganini or something like that but he's too modest. I'll convince him someday.

  • JOEEE!!!!!!!!<33333

  • cool

  • i studied with joe as well in 79 in philadelphia. i still play his finger warm up exercises. thanks joe!

  • What he does for warmup?

  • I actually know what he does for warmup. Gives it to his student. A bunch of technical warmups covering all the techniques, and play a blues.

  • Scales or chromatics?

He seemed to be pretty focus on economic picking.

  • now thats real guitar playing!

    Amazing improv techniques!

Like a violin solnata mixed with Duke Ellington Coltrane and something else!

    Innovative!

  • this guy was in my guitar class today, fantastic

  • I studied with Joe in the 80s--great artist, great teacher.

  • I enjoyed viewing Joe Federico on YouTube this morning. I studied via Dennis Sandole's student, and Guitarist, William Walton, a peer of Joe Federico. Joe was teaching in the South Philadelphia studio where I took my lessons, as I recall.

I enjoyed listening to Joe Federico on numerous occasions. He was among my favorite Jazz Guitarists. I admired him and his skill and found him to be a congenial, friendly person. Phila. is blessed with the likes of Joe, Jimmy Bruno and Pat Martino.

  • does he ever not play so fast..?

I think I'm gonna start taking lessons with this guy.

  • That is something you definitely won't regret! especially if you practice a lot.

  • @johnm14 yeah, he plays all different ways. he's great at slow blues.

  • i studied under joe for about 2 or 3 years and he is a great man....great taste in food. im lucky enough to have his tomato gravy recipe

  • I deejayed a wedding a few yrs ago and they were the live performance....His playing blew me away!...phenomen talent!!!

  • i studied under joe for 3 years, and he is not just a great guitar player, but an artist through and through, and he has good taste in food. We need more videos!!!

  • Yeah, I'm working on that. I'm working on seeing if I can work something out with video taping more stuff for youtube.

And yes a well rounded artist he is.

  • Yeah, Joe is one of my favorite players. Truly one of the most amazing teachers and people I have ever known. He will always continue to inspire me. One thing he always stressed to me was being original. Something that he obviously has a grasp on.
