  • hey, life happens, we all fall once or twice & we get back up.People in music & film /sports are no diff. Nor,are doctors/lawyers, cops, etc....all one in the same. Keep in mind, that we grow from our mistakes & come out of mishaps stronger & wiser .

  • This is the best shitty playing I've ever seen.

  • Dude was fucking trashed

  • I totally love him, even this kind of things happened many times. He showed me real guitar playing 20 years ago.

  • i was here ! fucking shit! my first ever big gig i ever went to... i was only 11 ?and i went there with high expectations , ooh micheal schenker one of the most influential guitarists ever.. and i can play better than him at 11 ? ay whats cracking off here!

  • ....are you sure that's not Dexter Holland goofin' around?

  • So who drinks like this.

  • Amazing - over 182,000 hits to see someone crash and burn.

Its a shame as for the last few years I would say his playing would rival any rock guitarist out there.

Can't wait to see MS again on Sunday at the Picturedome, Holmefirth UK.

  • what an asshole.

  • its so sad what alcohol does, look at him, looks like a drunken bum you see down the park.

doesn't matter who you are, how rich you are, how gifted you are, how poor you are, alcohol 'will' destroy everything.

he's bloody amazing again now though, check him out at NAMM 2011. Fantastic.

  • he's pissed out of his brains, thankfully he's now cleaned up and is playing amazingly again.

  • lol he mad

  • Poor Mickey XD!

  • People gotta back off sinister...Im American and I agree. A hard earned dollar is a hard earned dollar (or pound or euro or whatever) and I wouldn't have payed a dime for a performance like that. The guys on the streets with an acoustic and a tin can deserve more.

  • It's easy to show a bad moment for an artist. !!! Michael Schenker is a great guitarist who influenced more than a generation of musicians, If you respect him, cancel this video!!

  • He is on top form here. It's the best I have ever seen him. He must have downed 3 bottles of Jack and and crate of larger! I wonder if can still stand up after12 bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale?

  • Thank God he's clean now, I'd hate to see another performance like this.

  • wow, he's no frank marino thats for sure.

  • @sinisteruk You have no respect for Michael at all. THAT is obvious. You Tube can be a vicious medium, misabused by some.... You a MS fan? then be one and get this of the net!!

  • I'm a big fan. A friend of mine saw him recently and said he was great. I hope and pray that he can stay sober because he's such a talent and I'm so happy to see him do well and overcome this. He reminds me of Robert Downey, Jr. who is also a tremendous talent and struggled with substance abuse. Robert overcame it and is really doing well today. Here's hoping Michael stays on that path and continues to do well again. We're all wishing you well, Michael!!

  • @sinisteruk

Even great musicians have bad days. No reason to dislike him for having a dud show, and no reason to blame someone who noticed. In fact, hopefully Michael Schenker himself has seen this clip and will get his act together.

  • It's hilarious how slowly he's shuffling around the stage like some drunk dude attempting to play guitar in his basement. It's also hilarious that people refuse to believe it was him...mass amounts of alcohol can obviously bring down anyone, no matter how great they usually are.

  • He has improved a lot since his UFO days.

  • I saw Michael Schenker on Sunday and you'll be pleased to know he's sober and awesome!

  • All us fans know the solo he was trying to do, it is his signature solo that he always plays, usually with Into The Arena right around the bend. I can hear exactly what he was trying to do, and so what..he was drunk! Big deal, so Mike is human, doesn't take anything away from his other 99.999% of amazing work.

  • Drugs and alcohol make you awesome!! There is the proof!

  • guhh it really is painful to watch. He needs a DOCTOR DOCTOR that can help him or next time he drinks he'll be ROCK BOTTOM and his mind wandering in LOST HORIZONS.

  • sounds like a cc deville solo!

  • was this at rock & blues, i was there, he was fin shit

  • @mjb1995 aye it was.

  • That isn't him....

  • Yes. That is. I remember reading about it when it happened

  • @cjvk3 yes it is, google it and read about it. Also, i filmed this, so how is it not real?

  • @sinisteruk I googled it, you are correct, it is Micheal, after a bottle of conac. Kind of funny to me, being a 12 step person for 3.5 yrs now, I understand it. Actually, seious if he is alcoholic. Finally, he is arguably the finest guitairist that ever performed, in my humble opinion. My friends husband is a roadie for Michael, and says he drinks quite a bit. Maybe its time for him to sober up, only he knows for sure. God Bless.

  • Very nice solo.

    Very intellectual.

  • This is just sad bad. Get sober, dude.

  • holy shit

    sounds crapy

  • UG FTW!

  • UG FTW!!!

  • UG FTW!!!!

  • I wanna puke,this is horrible!

  • sad this vid has more views than some of his highlight vids...this man can rule any guitar out there...so fuck this video

  • we all have bad gigs but this guy is a fucking awesome player .on form one of the best

  • Dude, this makes me want to cry. Seriously

  • Do you want to borrow my hanky ? he he

  • Dont know if this is sad or funny....Vim Fuego came to mind but the real reasons are far darker....I think sad.....he needed help. But then again, who knows he probably takes his career for granted now and just aint that bothered anymore... Ace Frehley is kinda the same and I LOVE the Ace !!

  • PLEASe watch any of Michael's 2008 performance. you'll see that his video is pretty much irrelevant.

  • So much talent drowned in the flood. Perhaps he needs to see more videos like this to stay dry.

  • I think this is at the Rock and Blues Custom Show. Rudi pinned him up after this gig and told him to get his act together

  • it's a fake vedio... someone put bad sound to the film

  • nope im sorry to disagree but i was there and never been more disapointed to see that humiliation they shouldnt have alowed him on

  • Well, he's human you know? He had a bad night here, but it's forgivable - he's still a great musician. His legacy of work shines brighter than one bad performance.

  • from someone with a great rep as him youd expect better ok bad night hes to pissed or waisted = dont go on! not go on and look like a prat he desurves better

  • A bad night??? Come on! This guy has been a professional since he was 16 years old! He should know better and ticket buyers DESERVE better!

  • @saintrico 11 years old he was playing the Shadows on stage (Search in on youtube) I agree, I would hate to buy a ticket and see something like this. It was 2007, and he has a new record now, and it sounds good to me. I would love to see him perform on a good nite. Peace out.

  • I have loved both Schenker brothers for years and while I have always liked Rudi better I will say Michael is the better guitar player. He was at one time extremely beautiful as well, the blonde hair and those blue eyes, a damn teutonic god but the booze has kicked his ass. I *do* hope he gets sobriety and REMAINS sober. It grieves me greatly to see such massive talent wasted over self destructive behavior. You are loved Michael, stay clean.

  • Wow, CaptainGrevious....gay much? oh...just saw your profile. Sorry.

  • he's gay...so what?

  • Comment removed

  • Oh, you're female? My bad. Then your comments are several rungs below gay captain. I was mistakenly judging them too highly.

As a woman, I would place your musical opinion somewhere between plankton and vermin.

Now go make me a sandwich, cupcake.

  • Comment removed

  • Listen, toots. This is about guitar playing, so your species doesn't have an opinion worth listening to.

Now make me a chicken pot pie and finish me off with a nice blowjob while I balance my beer can on your head.

  • Jennifer Batten could kick you pathetic ass and them some on the guitar. Grow up kiddo, with attitudes like you have I should think your going to be lonely for a long time. So there is justice, haha!

  • caveman masterricardo7777 in case you haven't noticed, there are musical talents out there that are awesome...and guess what!? THEY'RE FEMALE!!!! of course not that you would understand what talent is cause (of course) you don't have enough brains to function properly

by the way anybody tell you it's the 21st century?

oh i almost forgot...here is a chicken pot pie...go shove up your ***!

  • @scorpionqueen4ever Oh wow...six months later and this performance still sucks! Oh, and make me a sandwich sweetie pie!

And Jennifer Batten on guitar? Talk about pathetic? But I'd bet she knows how to suck a mean weenie!

  • Sad. At 1 time(75-82) this guy could hang with any guitar player alive. The recordings don't lie. And live, Stranger in the Night is smokin. Maybe the best hard rock live album of the 70's, besides Tokyo Tapes. Melodic, tone, phrasing, speed and songwriting were his strengths. The life style always was an issue for him and he suffered from stage fright so he drank. If you know the history he joined UFO at 18 and moved from Germany to England and didn't speak English. He has influenced countless.

  • Totaly agree with every word there kingofthedeep, well said man. Michael's playing on Strangers was one of the reasons I learned to play guitar.

  • If you have seen Michael perform live since this, you know how brilliant his latest show's are. Your comment's ain't really valid if you have'nt

  • OMG!

  • You know, along with alex lifeson, schenker is one of my two all time favourite guitarists, and while lifeson has never lost it, this is just sad. Gone are the days eh? Hey Michael. lay off the booze mate, and get the real UFO out on the road!

  • wtf? oh my god

  • Alchool is really a demon! My God, Michael quit drinking please! Graham Bonnet was able to do it some years ago, I think he can too!

  • I´ve just seen him live in Anaheim 01/17/2009 and it was amazing !!! It seems that he's been away of alcohol for a while. Long live to Michael Schenker !!! He really kicks asses !!!!

  • Someone in the audience yelled "good job!". That's almost funny. Oh well, I've been stumbling drunk more than once in my life (what Marine hasn't?). Michael Schenker rules! Then and now!

  • this suck^^

    hahahahhaha

  • There are so many mind-blowing vids of MS on YouTube it makes this one classic because it shows the guy is human. His legend is etched in stone. We love you Michael. Looking forward to seeing you again. HVS

  • I agree, Fuck this video, Schenker rules...

  • @HelmutVonSphincter a stupid human, I'd say...

  • @PauloSimmonsStanley no not a stupid one, a sick one..unfortunate

  • @scottfree6 He's sick because he's stupid.

  • @PauloSimmonsStanley no, he's sick because he has a disease, as for the stupidity part, everyone's got their excuse, what's yours fella?? right now mine is you for getting involved in this assinine debate with you but it's something that i take somewhat personally because i am a former assoholic myself and i don't believe you or anyone should be looking down on a sick and suffering alcoholic unless we are reaching down a hand to help them up..and it just seems like you are just a hateful person

  • @scottfree6 My only stupidity is responding yo your stupid comments.

  • Whoever cannot tell that this is clearly a tampered video needs to listen closer. Anyone with too much time on their hands and some digital gear can make anything sound the way they want. Just listen to the way the real track morphs in and out.I agree with hibeeApostle, Schenker is and always will be the best.

  • sadly you're wrong .. he was totally hammered and not really in the zone. .. so to speak.

  • That wasn't so good now, was it?

  • hibee u took the words right out of my mouth

  • He pulled that shit on me twice, he walked off stage wasted. Then the time I DON'T go, he kicks ass. I finally saw him playing well, but not at the top of his game. He just drank 12 beers before going on stage instead of 24.

Still love the guy of course.

  • least hes better now :)

  • I saw him in Hong Kong a year or two ago and it was just sad. I met him after the show and he was in this complete drugged out state and they were leading him around like a Zombie. Don't get me wrong, I wish him the best, and all my prayers are with him. Doctor Doctor, Rock Bottom, Armed and Ready, Into The Arena and Assalt Attack are works of brilliance, and I thank him for the really special body of work. He left a piece of his playing in my style! Love you Michael!

  • This is embarassing, just to watch!

  • Schenker has lost his inspiration and genius. It took me a long time to accept it but it does happen all the time to creative people, mathematicians included. It's ok he has nothing to prove. In his prime, he was the best and more importantly, an original and unique artist.

Michael you will forever remain young and vital to your loving fans. You have given us memories to cherish and music for the ages.

  • I agree with you in that it happens from time to time. I have seen him play through the bad days too, unfortunately. However, I saw MSG last week and I can safely say that MS played the best I have ever seen him since the late 70´s. He played lots of new techniques and tricks, absolutely breath taking. He was also joking around all night and playing tricks on the others, singing along to all the songs too. Let´s hope he can stay off the juice because he is back on top I can assure you. Cheers!

  • I love Michael Schenker.

  • wow that sounded like shit lol I know this guy's a legend but damn

  • He maybe a fantastic guitar player but can he fuck take his drink! Half a shandy and he is rat arsed.

  • I'm a huge Schenker fan. He is obviously drunk or something.

His is/was a musical genius. Could hang with ANY guitar player from 74-85. Good example of not getting sauced before a show. Ever tried to play drunk? I have. It doesn't work. Sloppiness takes over. And writers block.

  • I think he's redeemed himself (6 months later and sober) -

    watch?v=RMKopAzYazw

  • i was there too, and i'd been talking up michael schenker all day to my fiancee and then he turned up like THAT on stage. I agree with you 100% mate, I'm a huge scorps fan so they did save the day for me, however, he's supposedly sorted himself now so i'm looking forward to seeing the scorps and msg and uli jon roth in a couple of weeks, fingers crossed this doesnt happen again! lol. this clip should remain on here forever as a reminder that musicians have a responsibility to a paying audience.

  • let me tell you rocket350 and flyingvkid when you have a 1967gibsonflyingv 1971and 1975 fender stratocasters 1968plexi marshall 1973superlead 100watt 200fendercustomshop 60s and playing for over20years talk to me

  • Hey man at least you got to go see the Scorpions. They need to go on a full American tour. I mean quit playing in Russia and Mexico and freakin Brazil. Hell they even played in Mongolia.

  • theyre was nothing questionable about this performance. i still cant believe i got charged to see this.

  • dont buy dean guitars, there is only 1 fiying v and it is made by gibson

  • What kind of bullshit comment is that! Schenker plays Dean because they make quality guitars. No one forces him to play Dean. I have both a Gibson V & a Dean V & the Dean is a better guitar!

  • yep, gibsons quality has been shocking for a few years now IMO

  • agreed

  • Schenker really wears his heart on his sleeve, and his troubles are very well documented. If you watch him live, you'll know that sometimes the man is just completely on fire. Other times he's not into it but still acts like a professional and does the job. And then there are also days (like this video) where it's a complete train wreck. It's the passion of a troubled soul that kind of gives the man's playing its authentic intensity.

  • You're right on it man!

  • was he holding the right end? PLANKWANKER!!!!!!!

  • If Youtube & digital cameras had existed 30 years ago how many fucked up Aerosmith & Led Zepplin shows would we have to slag off at our leisure? Like them, this guy has written enough great songs & played enough great shows to deserve a bit of love!

  • yeah ! he,s pissed. cant even see the frets.hes had a few thats for sure and a few hundred lines of the white gear

  • dead fret noise... happens sumtimes

  • i think its the guitar, not him

  • r u for 4 real fpbear. i was there and let me assure you this guy was a joke

  • I play electric guitar.. it sounds like there was something wrong with his guitar. He kept hitting a fret that sounded dead. Broken guitars happen sometimes, how would you know the difference? People jump to conclusions too quickly. Listen closely.

  • this is a fucking shame, he shouldn't be playin now and u shouldn't upload this shit. if he sobers up again then upload something. dont give any credit to his "band", they're riding the drunken coattails of a guitar legend...

  • Wtf happened to this guy?

in the past he was the shit and now sounds like shit...??wtf???

  • lol i blame it on the dean if he would had his gibson handy things would of been diffrent lol.

  • Whoever is cheering for him is an idiot.

  • I was there last year and this guy was a complete joke. His band were really trying though, They came on at least fifteen minutes before him and continued to play while he kept going off stage and back again, It was a good job there were more bands than this on or i would have been jumping this guy.

  • So was I. I agree with you. This guy was and still is a complete joke. I was standing there listening to this garbage and I was just wondering what the fuck he was playing. Not to mention the guy is a complete dick.

I give credit to the band. They were trying.

  • hmmmm...............

  • I wonder if Michael Schenker likes to finger his tight butthole while he masturbates when he's sitting on the toilet.

  • maybe this was the day the divorce papers came in

  • I don't know about the divorce papers but it sound like the Schlitz Malt liquor arrived on tome! About 4 hours before this show!

  • roflmao

  • 'Good job'

    lmao

  • Wow! at first I thought it was one of those joke vids like the Yngwie one.

  • I think Eddie plays better when he's off his ass drunk than michael does, but then eddie's had more practice at it.

  • That's a close call. Check out Van Halen at the MGM Arena 12/30/07. I remember seeing Van Hagar in 91 and they were drunk as cluck. Eddie kept screwing up over and over. It's really sad when they don't seem to be able to stay sober. I would have been screaming for my money back that night though, if it weren't for Alice In Chains opening. (Guess it's easier to play on heroin). :p

  • Look at the new Schenker/ Barden Album:

    In the Midst of Beauty

    It`s fantastic!!!

    Michael is back!!!! :-)

That´s the real Michael Schenker, not this video..... it`s past......

  • av never seen anyone that pissed on stage b4, who let him go on like that??? ignore this, he is a great

  • oh.my.god.i want to block my ears up and lie down for a bit.what a shame.

  • sad sad sad to me he was a god i wish i hadnt watched this

  • I read interview with Schenker in Classic Rock & he admits that a few days later, he went to REHAB

  • For like the 15th time! What a sham. If I had paid to see that can't get it off the bottom of my shoe dog shit performance I'd be screaming for my money back. And I'm a huge Schenker fan. I was pissed when he canceled the rest of his USA tour and missed his show. Looks like I did'nt miss much!!! I've seen some newer stuff on You Tube and he sounds great.

  • Even a guitar god can have a bad day... when he shows up!

  • Hey can anyone tab this and send it to me, LOL.

I'd love to play it note for note at my next gig.

Sad, really sad, I admired his playing for years.

  • Lol!!! It's called drink 18 beers and forget that you are a guitar god and play like all the other 14 year old slackers at Guitar Center on Sat afternoon!

  • fucking ROFL what a disgrace.

    boooooooooo

  • He was NOT messing with the audience. He was drunk off his ass. Read the March issue of Classic Rock magazine, there's an article about him. He openly admits he was drunk and an alcoholic at that point. He's clean now.

  • Michael reminds me of Eddie VH, seems like their playing & personal vices have gone on similar paths.

Once, both were God-like...today, very inconsistent & plagued by their demons.

Having said that, i think Michael is purposely messing with the audience here.

He's a strange, emotional guy & there's no way he could play this sub-par in real life.

  • I'm 46. I saw the MSG group (with Gary Barden) on tour back in the early 80's (The Garden) supporting the first 'MSG' release. Michael was pure MAGIC... a MONSTER live player! Also saw them at 'The Chance' club in Poughkeepsie, NY shortly thereafter, and it was the best rock show i've EVER seen, hands down, and i've seen about 240 concerts in my lifetime. No matter what, Michael is a consummate musician and LEGEND! His playing on that first MSG 'album' in UNGODLY GREAT!

  • godddddddd

  • Imagine nearly 40 years of people calling you god and expecting to have an out of body experience every time you pick up the guitar. It's no wonder he is fucked up. Genius is often accompanied by serious flaws. He clearly needs good people around him and a shit load of therapy. I don't think I would cope after loosing my music and "V"s and then being told I had a gig in Stourbridge! It's better to be a has been than a never was (to all the better guitarists in their bedrooms). Get well MS.

  • wow that was AMAZING !!!!!

  • FUCK, He's nearly as good as Nigel Tufnel!

  • Oh lawd. :D:D

  • it sounds like he's doing very bad on a game of guitar hero.

  • he is a awsome guitarist i also blame his band for leting him on stage after beers (personaly i think it wasnt just beer)

but the rain cooled us down alot on scorps

wont be goin to camden hall though (mardy pentrich and swanwick villages its once a year for gods sake !!!!!!!!!!)

  • saw him last night in knaresborough he was BRILLIANT back to his best.Shame not many young kids there, he's inspired me to pick up my guitar again, even with a hang over!!!!! AH!!

  • Saw him in Swansea on 11th Feb 08, brilliant show, brilliant guitarist, nailing the solos, then he loses his temper during Mad Axeman (guitar problems) and doesn't come out for encore. Still, was worth it, the man is a legend....

  • Just seen him tonight and it was such a great gig! He was fantastic. He's back on form!

  • As a fan of Michael's i should want this video removed...but it should stay and every time he feels like a drink he should play it to remind him what a drunk Michael sounds like!!

  • I agree really :] Was a big let down :(

  • +10000 on this! I think a lot of people were let down there. Hope it doesn't happen again.

  • Don't take this too hard -- I saw Eddie Van Halen try to play drunk. He was just as awful. One or two beers loosens you up. But 10 makes you just stupid.

  • Michael has fully explained the circumstances leading to last year's awful performances. Focus on the present & the future, This was recorded on Sat 19th Jan '08. I rest my case for the defence!

  • I saw Michael Schenker in concert last night (16/1/08) and he was fantastic.

  • ChubbyDodds drinks way too much Stella.

  • Hello mate, catch the clips posted from sutton!

  • when i was a young aspiring guitar player michael was my hero watching this is to much to bear, this is not the schenker i know, listen to the classic u.f.o album strangers in the night and you shall hear the real michael schenker, obviously he has got probs at the moment dont judge him on this crap, loose the vid please... i need to cry.

  • Catch the m.s. in sutton clips from 17 jan 08 in UK, indifferent recorded sound quality, but the gig was brilliant,he's back!

  • This is disrespectful, you should remove this video for Michael's good. He doesn't need this! Especially not in his condition!

  • Michael is fine now. He's touring Europe and his playing is excellent.

  • Hey, this is what happens when the devil leaves you.

should have never sold your soul for rock and roll.

  • awesome,i can honestly say that i too can play like Metal Mickey ha,ha

  • Michael Schenker is a sad, fallen guitar hero. He is still a brilliant player when he's *on*, but this crap is painful to watch. Mark my words - someday, there will be a story out about him being metally ill. I've seen him in person off stage before and after shows, and there's definately something up, and it's not as simple as alcohol abuse. This man is not all there even when he's sober..

  • Mikey needs a hug :(

  • well, I give him one...

  • Ha ha!!! Poor guy. Schenker has a booze problem and he's also a bit insane, too. I suspect the two elements had something to do with this. But hey, let's not forget that he was probably the single catylist that paved the way for modern hard rock- Van Halen, Ratt, Dokken, even Judas Priest weren't playing solos the way they did before Schenker started doing them like that in 1974.

  • I wonder why Mike never received the same success that those other bands did.

  • He never received the recognition because he didn't try to appeal to a "commercial" audience. He even admitted that he didn't like all the "fan fare" that was starting to come in 1979 after "Strangers in the Night" was released. That changed in 1987 or so, but by then his style of music wasn't an appeal to the masses.

  • He was very commercial with the McAuley Schenker group. I guess Mikey was destined to be infamous and not famous.

  • Why view this when there are some amazing schenker moments on youtube, we all get pissed so why shouldnt he?

  • i,ve been so drunk where it sounds like this... shit happens...so what,s the big deal...lol..gotta love ms..after all he gave us

  • i was there,8 hours in the pouring rain waiting to see schenker, and he turned up pissed and could hardly play a note, yes the guy has problems, but he showed every person who paid to see him ZERO respect by doing that.
