  • I love it only thing gps sucks but I use my garmen and iPod is a bit slow but sounds good and got detachable face witch is a plus check my video out on you tube got two w7 and two Jl 1000.1 amps and Jl 300 amp to mids sounds real good videos come in crystal clear elugo1178.

  • whats the video format for this unit im having trouble putting videos on my sd card. it doesnt read!!!!1 grrr

  • @edgar99884 yea im having the same trouble have you found the solution

  • hey mate love the jvc um do you know if they any good with the one sub going on it thanks

  • Bought it and seriously regret it. Product is awful:

    1. Even with Nov 2010 map update, the Navteq map software is easily two years out of date.

    2. GPS implementation is not on par with a $100 Garmin. Example: Start navigating from a parking lot and the JVC doesn't tell you whether you should turn left or right out of the driveway.

    3. iPod integration is TERRIBLE! Impossibly slow to use. Select an artist and then you wait 7-10 seconds for screen to react.

  • Hi,

i from Dominican Republic, i want to buy the Kenwood Excelon DNX8120, but i prefer a radio with detachable face...can i find this type with this feature?

  • eastern time in california? traffic is that bad?

  • JVC is a good company. Don't hear of them much hear in the UK, but they have very good products & their mini-systems R WEU CRAZZZZZZZZZZY!

  • @BUBLOOGABLOO shut up

  • in the night the LCD seem to be to bright can any one tell how do make it not so bright?

  • @username4897 SHUT YOUR EYES. IF THIS DOES NOT HELP, YOU COULD TRY COVERING YOUR EYES WITH THE HELP OF YOUR HANDS AT THE SAME TIME.

Please see a doctor/pharmacist if this did not help.

  • @BUBLOOGABLOO SHUT UP AND GO AWAY !!

ALL U DO IS MAke trouble

    no one likes U

  • door opening and closing

  • where are the usb and sd slots located?

  • USB is a cable that comes out from the rear. It's about 2 feet long.

  • Opps, forgot about the SD card, it's located behind the detachable faceplate. You can access this whether the vehicle is on or off. The only bad thing is that if the face is not on the unit, you cannot access the card slot since the mounting for the faceplate blocks the slot.

  • how does the JVC KW-NX7000 (BT) handle music while doing voice guidance at the same time?? does it mute the music and then tell you to turn right? or does it just lower the volume?

  • You have several options. You can have the unit:

    1. mute the music.

    2. Attenuate the music, which just lowers the music some so you can hear the instrustions.

    3. Additionally you can set from what speakers you want the Voice instructions to come from.

  • The older JVC navigation systems increased the volume of the music more gradually after the instructions. This system doesn't do it that well. It is just there again. And to be honest, the voice was better then, too. ;) Now I feel like listening to the Dutch queen.

  • The sound of the door opening and closing in the background had me freaked.

  • @venusfan

Put in Jamaica instead of Queens.

  • I got the unit a couple of weeks ago. The unit looks great.

I am disappointed with a few things.

    The Cons

With bluetooth engaged, you can't change screens. The speed with my iPod (classic and nano) is the most disappointing. Worse than that, my iPhone 3G doesn't work as advertised on the compatibility. I consider this unacceptable for such a high cost. It was a valiant effort.

Any thoughts on speeding it up?

  • I got this unit a couple weeks ago and it's okay. I got it because of the detachable face. A Major problem I'm having though is the JVC unit will not let me search for an address in the city where I live. I live in NYC in the borough of Queens and it wont lallow me input any street address #'s.

    An example:

    159-30 Rockaway Blvd.

    Jamaica NY 11434

That's the FAA headquarters at JFK airport and the unit wont let you input the street address on any street within Queens, Strange.

  • There is a firmware update and by now there should be a Map update as well. Check the JVC site.

  • i have this nav but some1 broke in 2 my car and couldnt get it out so they took the faceplate and now i cant find it nowere do u no were 2 get 1 frum???

  • The graphic interface is so ugly ; ;

  • From what Im told you can change the colour and background theme

  • I have the Pioneer F90BT and I feel like I've made a mistake! LOL

  • are you being sarcastic or not because the pioneer f900 is not a good system in my opinion.. Pioneer has dropped the ball with its f700 and f900 IMO

  • Hi I think i prefer the JVC over the Pioneer Avic F900BT but first can you comment on the music/video sound quality for example which will sound better in a standard identical car setup? Also does the JVC have voice command? would love that feature on the JVC..

  • what makes you choose the jvc over the pioneer if u dont mind sharing?

  • personally i liked the JVC over the Pioneer AVIC-F series because of the pioneers start up time. take a long time for the unit to be fully functional after you turn the car on. Thats just me though. maybe others have more opinions

  • I have finally bought this system! I felt really really bad when I heard the system's Dutch voice! It almost sounds like our queen Beatrix. Normally no one would talk like that. It was very annoying. The menu has some mistakes in Dutch, like it was translated in Asia with a dictionary. So now I have changed to Danish, and her voice is really nice.

A pity the USB cable was not supplied by the manufacturer. I got the unit installed, so now I need to get it taken out to have the USB cable in. :(

  • It is a pity you can't input an address while the car is in motion. This was possible with the older JVC navigation systems though.

If this is a safety isue, people shouldn't be allowed to change a CD whilst driving either. Not that I want to give someone any ideas... :D

The navigation itself works really well and the addresses can rapidly be found with the intelligent input, only showing the available options after entering a letter.

Now I hope to find a better bracket for the dash.

  • Great! I am think about buying this Navi, but is the Navi voice? Like It will tell you to turn? (Like most portable gps)

  • Is this Sonic Electronix an authorized dealer for the major brands like Kenwood, Pioneer, and Alpine?

  • I like the JVC for the SD card slot option since there is no internal hard drive, but the detachable face plate doesn't sound like it will make a nice flush close to factory fit since it requires more dept. The Kenwood DNX8120 is quite a bit more, but it has a 2yr. warranty along with ipod and bluetooth. The SD slot on the Kenwood DNX8120 is for downloading maps only I think? I wonder if all of the upcoming new models from most manufacturers will have detachable faceplates.

  • That is a good question. Very few Double DIN units have a detachable faceplate at the moment. I am sure you can count on more manufacturers doing this to their units, but i would say that all in-dashes are going to. All of us here at Sonic Electronix are on the look out for more of these units... They are really cool.

  • @sethowilde hey seth quick question how is it for playin music i have an external harddrive tht holds about 1.5tb ive set it up as a fat32 using a program just wondered if the device has a search tool and how long it would take to load all the fiels of the hdd i hav about 320gb of music so a search tool would be needed if it doesn't is their any double din device ud recommend i heard the avic x920bt has a search tool but is tht only for the ipod

  • @mchou2002 What is the operating system and will it navigate in 3D?

  • Great video.

I was wondering where the USB connector is located. I haven't been able to discover it on the pictures.

    Thanks! :D

    Terry

  • The USB connector cable is on the back of the unit. The USB cable is long enough to be able to run the cable to a glove box or someplace similar.

On the website, it is the 8th picture down when you click to view larger and other pictures.

  • Hi Seth,

Thanks a lot! That is really nice!

I think I will buy this system instead of the Pioneer Avic F900BT, which I originally wanted. I think it is very important to be able to take off the faceplate. Not here in Denmark, but when I visit my parents in The Netherlands. ;)

I so much hope the new software uses the very same lady in the Dutch language. If only I could meet her. ;)

    Thanks for making this video!

  • How much security does the detachable face plate offer? Can any joker just buy a replacement face plate and plug it in? What if you need to replace a lost or broken face plate? How flush does it mount in most vehicles since the detachable face plate takes a bit more depth? How do you update the hard drive Navi maps?

  • My current JVC navigation asks the user to enter a security code after it has been disconnect from the car's battery. You can't use it without entering the code.

I think it is the same with this unit, but I am not quite sure.

  • do you have other videos of this unit or can u make a more in depth video? plan on purchasing this unit soon. was wondering were the sd is inserted in unit?

  • You will be happy if you get it, thats for sure. The SD card is behind the screen. The CD/DVD drive, SD card slot, and the SD Navigation are all behind the screen. The SD navi is screwed in behind a panel so you cant really access it, but the other sd slot is easy to get to. check out the sonicelectronix website for it. they have much more detailed pics to answer all your question.

  • Im working on some other videos now. Any requests?

  • PIONEER AVIC-F90BT - Im curious what you think about that compared to the JVC....Thanks great video!

  • Couldn't remember if i got back to you on your question. Both are great units! In my own opinion, they both have pros and cons. The JVC has a great navigation that i prefer. The Pioneer has a nice interface and can recognize speech. So you can talk to it and that is really cool, especially while driving. However the Pioneer has a long start up... Some people complain a lot about that. The jvc has a detachable faceplate, but the f90 could ingrate into the dash better.. Thats a hard choice.

  • Kenwood DNX8120

  • great video. Seems like a good unit. Keep up the good work!

  • Nice video. This unit seems like it has really cool navigation features. Thanks for making a video to show this. Do you have any other videos?
