I saw this a few times on cable. It was pre-VCR (at least at my house) so I was never able to watch it over and over and over and over and over and over. Certainly not like Repo Man.
hey . . . has anyone ever noticed most of the props are in fact appliances and not actual hardware? lol
great film, I'm 43 an remember when it came out on Showtime Shorts. It has always been one of my favorites. i enjoyed seeing this clip with Michael Wiese.
i remember when this came out ages ago and thought it was hilarious and great. i remember everyone at school talking about it when I was a kid. i believe the first time i saw it was it was shown at a Drive-In. I loved Chewchilla. LOL.
I remember it as a kids too. When Spaceballs came out I did not like as much. Hardware was was always funnier. Only a few knew what i was talking about. It was like I was in an exclusive club. Welcome new members.
I was about 7 when Hardware Wars came out. I loved it then and I love it now. I remember talking about it with my younger cousin, and we'd repeat the lines we thought were funniest. "You bet your asteroid, kid!" "Excuuuse ME!" Great job, Mr. Wiese!
I saw Hardware Wars for the first time in college. They played it just before Star Wars and everyone cracked up. We fell in love with it. Is it anywhere on YouTube?
They would show this movie between features on HBO way back in the day. That's when I saw it. I was probably 10 years old, maybe younger. When was it released?
I saw this too when I was a kidl Hardware Wars was a blast. It was actually shown to me at church. I don't know how they distributed it back then that my church got a hold of a copy back in the 80s. Good memories.
Wow, one of my greatest kid memories was our entire elementary (aka grammar) school, near the end of the schoolyear, all going to the gym, sitting down for a movie. And they showed us...drumroll..."Hardware Wars!"
This is classic....may the farce be with you!! Thank you Ernie F.

I'm 54 and I remember this coming out as a short on HBO when I was 19 and in the Marines in 1977 or so. Laughed so hard I thought I'd split a gut.

Isn't the bar scene from some cafe off Rockridge & Broadway? It's no longer called the "Palms Cafe" and is _somewhere_ in the Bay Area...

I don't even remember how old I was when I first saw this. We used to call it "the flying toaster movie."

That is where I first saw it as well. Back then HBO and Cinemax even showed music videos between movies.
