@bstal247 Not really. The 4 cylinder is still smaller. It's not SMALL per say, but the engine has TONS of technology involved in it. I believe the turbos are even spun with Nitrous Oxide as opposed to exhaust spun turbos.

Lots of stuff that usually isn't allowed in top end drag racing, but should be. I don't see why we can't take a turn for better technology for faster cars. I'd like to see a 2 second drag race car in my life time.

Gotta admit a solid aluminum block with no coolant lines = cool.

@bstal247 You're so wrong lol. It uses a COMPLETE custom 4 cylinder block. It doesn't get GOOD gas mileage, it gets better. It doesn't premix the netro methane with the alcohol. It has a computer system which can switch between fuel mixtures (and log the data), all in a fraction of a fraction of a second.

It's completely tuned with a computer, not a screwdriver and jet tuning.

ALL running costs for it will be 1/4 of those of a "top" dragster.

@psychoninja911 k when you have a 4,000 horsepower car and several hundred thousand dollars into it, i'm pretty sure gas mileage is the last thing a person would be worried about. secondly, dollar for dollar, nothing beats a big block chevrolet, you can't build a rice burner on a budget and expect to beat a big block, and lastly, there is only so much energy in a gallon of gasoline, the acura probably has just as bad of fuel economy.

@ben38619 Have you ever heard of DSM's(Eclipse)? Or the Evo's? They both have the 4g63 engine. Although the Eclipse isn't a riceburner since it was made here in Illinois, I think that YOU personally might consider it a riceburner. The fastest 4 cylinder happens to be an Eclipse that's running 6's on a 2.0 engine. To say dollar for dollar a big block Chevy can't be beat, if we both had $10,000 I guarantee that I can put out more HP on my 4g63 than you can on your big block.

@blondieatbirth23 No way in hell you could dude. Big blocks run very, very well and the cost of building a big block is much less than anything foreign. Aftermarket parts for foreign engines are very expensive. Four H-beam rods for your engine would cost relatively the same as they would for a big block. Back when I worked at the machine shop we had a big block chevy that had no where near 10k into it. It had the stock steel GM heads and steel crank and it was running 9's in the quarter

@ben38619 Nothing beats a big block chev dollar for dollar?? hp per cubic inch its easy to beat a big block chev with a jap engine and over a seasons racing I'd bet my little jappa on petrol (that regularly beats the big blown meth V8s in the comp class I run in) is far cheaper to build, run and maintain. The big V8s are great for brute hp and I love them as much as the next guy but in classes where you run X amount of weight per ci, they are easy enough to beat.

@mageac Oh for sure, there's a huge aftermarket for them but when you want to make 6-7 hp per cubic inch with meth from one (ie. 3500hp from 500ci), which is what is needed to be competitive in the lb per ci racing I do, its pretty big money to build and pretty big money to run and maintain them, luckily with a smaller jap engine its easy enough to make the hp/ci and they are extreemly reliable at that power level. I use less than 1/2 gallon of gas per run and do 2-3 seasons on a motor untouchd

Also, I doubt a 4,000hp Acura would be cheaper to build and I bet it would break a LOT more! If there was a small 4k horsepower motor out there (which would obviously weigh a bunch less than a huge big block) EVERYONE would be running them!! Because when I go on a trip, I wanna take my race car on the way. I want to drive it. 35mpg vs. 10mpg is huge from Texas to New Orleans.
