I knew Howard and Mara Taylor during this time very well. Great folks! Howard bought the property in 1968 for their dream home. Windmill for power and all very environmentally sound. Soon after closing the state told him they were condemning the property to make a park - eventually - so he shouldn't build. He said "well, buy it from me!" Gee - no funds available. Let's see, seven acres of beachfront in Kauai you just bought but can't use or sell. The camp was their rightful protest.

Why were people kicked off by the state if they were on Taylor's private property?

@AKMary1 In 1977 the government condemned the land to make way for a State park.
