Yeah, Finally found this certain training film of SSGT Morris. He was a fair dude. His asst. SRA BOO BOO wasnt to sporty with drills. Morris was always a professional.
3701st Honor Flt 245, Sept 1981, Retired 2001. Just recently returned from Lackland AFB attending my daughter's graduation 20 Jan from the 331st TRS...the 331st TRS is
in the same dormitory as the old 3701st, how weird is that?
3743, Flt 381, Jun 15 1992 TSgt Hockenberry and SrA McCreary. (I know this is from the 80's but not much is differnt from when I went thru in the early 90's...good times.)
Weird how time has gone by too fast. Everything that happens to you is so surreal. Then you come to tech school and things are more relaxed. Then you finally get to your base. Ill never forget my base sponser. I kept calling him sir. He said " you call me sir again im going to kick your ass--he was joking but it was a whole new world. Independance, responsibility, your own money, car--it was a whole new life all together. I wouldnt trade it for anything.
I was there in 1983. I don't believe they are all actors. The guy around 2:15 looks like Sgt. Arter. He was cool. And a couple of the other instructors look very familiar. I'll have to dig up my book.
It may be 30 years since I attended BMTS, but there is NO WAY that it was as portrayed in this video!! TI's weren't friendly and polite to AB's! It was hell until the last few days. If the sound of taps (on shoes) doesn't strike a chord of fear in you, you weren't there, lol!!
I went thru in 1985 Sgt King and SSgt Daluz were my TI's. This video cracks me up especially the guys in the dayroom "relaxing" writing letters! If we were caught any where near the furniture in the dayroom our life was over! This video is good for memories, but I hate to say it's a joke compared to what went on. This video is embarassing.
I saw my TI. SSgt Harris. She was a blue rope. She had a twin sister there. They played some mean tricks on us. Use each others IDs and get into the dorms. All hell would break out. Fire drills all night. Gawd I miss those days.
BMTS I think 3743 Oct 1983. The TIs were not anywhere as nice in real life. A lot more cursing and well doing what they do so well. Making you hate life. I've been in now 27 yrs. Aim High.
This looks very much like the BMT I went too in December 1982. I was in 3711 Flt 599. We wore those same uniforms. BMT wasn't hard to me...mostly just getting used to the AF way of life.
I went through BMTS in November - December 1989... 3701st, Flt. 081 ... All I remember about location of my dorm is that it was near the Skylark Rec Center (I think... ha)... I remember it being very cold that winter in San Antonio... I graduated Basic the day after Christmas and the temps were in the teens... ha... Bittersweet memories of basic... :)

Real BMT is harder then what they show here, as MWSAC mentioned, its staged for the purpose of making the video. I ended up in med hold which made my BMT closer to 9 weeks instead of the standard 6 1/2 weeks. also to new people going in, make sure you have a set career in mind and DONT go in "open general" for your job because you'll get either security forces or services which is a mix of a bunch of "chore" jobs.
@zodszoo No freakin way! I believe I remember you. I would need to get my BMTS yearbook though. I am an Army Chaplain these days stationed at Ft Sill, OK.
My recruiter had this video on laserdisc when I first went to the recruiting station in 1992. I still laugh when I think about it because it is so NOT what Air Force Basic is really like. Funny stuff!!
December 1978 3743rd BMTS Sgt Buckingham (female). It didn't seem easy when I was a 19 year old, but years later looking back it really was a easy 6 weeks. What makes me laugh is the TI's wearing their dress blues while conducting PT. 29 years later I went through the Army's Warrior Transtion Course at Ft. Sill OK. for prior service soldiers

Now this bring back memories, especially since I recognized some of the Training Instructors in the video. I do understand it is a promotional video and all aspects of BMT are not shown however, it still brings great memories.
@eaglesfan19029 Indeed, I did this in '83 and it was eeeasy. Especially coming off the mean streets of New York City in the wintertime, this was a nice vacation in sunny Texas, LOL. Still, we had a couple of guys who...cried. ZOMG!
Lol this video is funny. I graduated bmt couple months ago graduated tech school couple weeks ago and now im in hurlburt field afb loved every moment in my jurny here and it makes me glad to know that this is just the start. A1C Jovellar.
@rolfee4695 Haha my section supervisor heard someone snicker over the intercom they used to spy on us and came up and put us all on our faces for about 20minutes since no one would own up.
I linked to your video on my facebook page ht tp://ww w.facebook.com/#!/pages/WHAT-THE-PISS-TRAINEE/104032559641255 . You should be getting more views now :) Also, as stated in my first comment, yes I understand that this is staged. My page is a joke page, and as such, every update is "in character."
Even though this is staged, it looks way different than what I went through at the 320 TRS from 7 Apr - 5 Jun 09. I actually miss the BMT lifestyle and have started to fold some of the clothes in the way that they have taught us. Does anyone know where I can get a current copy of the binder that they had in the wall lockers about how to fold the clothes and all?
Holy crap, staged or not, this is like a scrapbook of my trip to summer camp: 3708th Drum and Bugle Flight. 1978. We lived in the old white two-story dorms that have since been razed.
I recently heard from a retired TI who is actually in this promotional video. He told me that what you see in the video was actually "Staged".... and the main character in the video was actually an actor, and NOT a real Air Force recruit. As a retired Air Force Master Sergeant who actually attended BMTS during this time, I can actually say that what you see in this video is a "Sanitized" version of BMTS during that time. For me personnaly, it was hell. But I survived BMTS and it matured me.
@380BMWSAC The Air Force BMT is crazy stressful and mental these days. I would be more impressed if they did a promo video showing just how hard mentally it is.
@380BMWSAC I went through BMTS in 1983. Just prior to going, I saw this actual video. To me, it was very accurate to what I experienced. Even now, it doesn't seem sanitized at all. I became a SAC cop. After separating from the AF I became a professional video producer. Staging shots is not unusual. And they used an actor because they needed someone who can look natural on camera. I see this as a well-produced and accurate depiction of BMTS.
I went in in '90, and I was a PA put shit, BMTS wasn't this nice. LMAO. It wasn't that bad either. I think it was harder for the TI's than we airmen. I never got a 341 pulled but this video is hilarious.
"hey look, Air Force!!!" wow, BMT used to be only one month!!!?? it must have been more difficult to memorize everything they taught you in that little time.
