  • Dude! I bought that exact same knife today for the magnesium starter and for bushcraft but that little carbon striker will not cut it for me. I need some real power...hence the knife :) great set up with the fire too. Peace brotha!

  • CHEATER! NO ADDING MORE KINDLING!!!

  • Ever heard of a lighter or matches

  • @reg701 Why would you want to use a lighter or matches? This is much more fun and requires much more skill...

  • thats very good, not pro, friction fire is pro

  • @gotigerwoods walmart sells them in the camping section

  • @gotigerwoods Yes, they do sell them at Walmart for about $5. It also comes with a steel striker so you don't have to use your knife, unless if you prefer to do so.

  • use flint & steel minecraft style xD

  • they sell firesteel rods at walmart

  • Comment removed

  • @gotigerwoods Army Navy Surplus?

  • awesome video! i would suggest using the end of the blade if it is a knife you use regularly.

  • The only real pro fire starting I have seen is using rocket fuel and liquid O2. LOL.

    cheers

  • @gotigerwoods yes, in the walmart near me in the sporting goods section, they sell magnesium sticks with a flint attatched for about $8.00

  • @gotigerwoods military surplus stores ?

  • @gotigerwoods They have it on DX for dirt cheap.

  • "Pro" Really?

  • professionals make fire with sticks

  • You can get magnesium firesteels at Walmart or any place that sells camping stuff.

  • ???????? wow yeah real pro...... i would be all over this if you made money off making fires. thats what pro means.......dumbass

  • Buy a DOAN if you can get it (try e-bay). The Cohglan's is also actually reasonable, just slightly lower quality. One other point: If your limited to a SAK buy one with a saw on it. Back of the saw is the DB's for striking on a flint. Helps to preserve your edge. Always desirable in a survival situation.

  • héhé good fire

  • now do it when it rains

  • @paronfisk are you kidding? You can't start a fire when it rains because water drop

    can shut down the fire.

  • @boolykbol So if it rains you die?

  • @boolykbol You can build it under a tree with a thick canopy. Yeah, some water might come through, but as long as its burning nice and strong, a few drops wont hurt anything.

  • U do kno that u hav to blow on the fire to get it to expand to greater places

    Jkjk

    Lol

But u do hav to blow

  • not pro and that rock is a flicn rock used on the wheel of lighters

  • my firemaking level is 99. lulz

  • runescape noob

  • pro is making it under water

  • pro would be rubing a stick to a rock and making fire...

  • Pro would be summoning the storm gods to strike your tinder bundle with a bolt of lightning, thereby starting your fire.

  • @squalea no that would be Moses LOL

  • lol pro firemaking?what has this world come to where making a fire is a sport.

  • That's not pro. That's just normal plain w/e.

Pro is taking 2 sticks and rubbing it against each other to make a fire.

  • taking 2 sticks and rubbing it against eachother? your very perverted

  • @RudeLeaf Pro is throwing water on sticks and having them burst into flames.

  • @RudeLeaf if you mean handrill then that isnt pro tbh my little bro can use a handrill and hes 5

but if what your sayin by rubbing 2 sticks together on top of the other it will never work its impossible unless you soak it in nitroglycerin then it will work (and blow your hands off)

  • A fire steel: Buy any at a huntershop/Fishingshop.. They should have

  • yeah lol using the magnesium bar from REI is totally pro...

  • if your profession was starting fires (which is questionable as is) then i would think you would want the magnesium

  • I dont think building fire is a case of being pro or not I think its more the case of what resources you have when you're camping/hiking. Awesome fire you got going but here's a good tip: In order not to push away the tinder when striking its a good idea to pull the flint rather than push the steel. Awesome vid 5/5 :)

  • Fuck, how come I've never thought of that before? brilliant, thanks... :D

  • Pro? was that ment to be a joke?

  • why cant i do that? lol

  • This is what Bear Grylles uses to start a fire.

  • hes a fake bro, les sproud is da man

  • lol , you used a wet fire gel, its the green stuff on the floor were he strikes..

    starts instantly..

  • he used magnesium...its from the bar..you shave it off in pieces so it lights faster..

  • i have one...

  • Maybe if you had tried that zoom button several dozen more times it would have worked?

  • thats a nice fire

  • thats pretty easy

  • NEVER EVER use the sharp side of the knife for striking a fire. How many times have you cut your fingers and not learned this lesson! (Dumb) Plus, you ruin the knife edge. Otherwise, almost okay fire building.

  • Hey buddy, I think you mean A L L O W E D.

  • what is a flint?

  • are you kidding me!?! if you dont know what a fricken flint is you shoudlnt be aloud outdoors...have a nice day.

  • i did mine in 1 strock

  • what it the thing you use to start a fire a knife and what ??

  • its a flint

  • magneisem( or however you spelll it ) and flint

  • u can also get magnesium fire starters at k-mart

  • wait are they called magnesium.... where do you buy them... hahaha cant wait to get people are gonna think how i started fire at camp muaaaahhhh hahahahahha hehehe sorry...

  • lol u people i bet im only 1 here that can light fire with a sdtick an board

  • your not the only one

  • wal-mart has it or a military surplus store or online

  • I find that a bit of gasoline and a match usually does the job :)

  • that isw pro

  • thats actually pretty good, most people on youtube takes them a couple streaks to light the magnesium, but it took you 1 try, nice.

  • MEC or REI sells it for $9

  • u can get them at sportin goods for like $4-7

  • One of two things. Either you just dulled the hell out of your knife, or, if I am not mistaken, used a non-locking knife backwards.

    Certainly not Pro

  • become a mage easier

  • just use magic, it's faster.

  • they sell flints in walmart in the sporting section. you have to look real closely though

  • and K-mart as well

  • What did you use as tinder and kindling?

  • Not sure. I wouldnt be surprised it they did though.

  • amazon.c or any othe online store

    also any common camping store

  • its called firesteel which can be bought for around £10-£20 ($30-$50)

  • its easy...

  • nice job

  • lol can you tell me were to get a flint rod or fire steel or w/e it is i relly want to kno im kinda of a pyro

  • Depends where you live. If you're in Canada, like myself, go to Canadian Tire. There cheap there. You could probably find them at any outdooring kind of stores as well like Le Baron or MEC.

  • ok i live in the us so ill have to look around i got a goof idea tho wat should i get firesteel or a flint rod?

  • Not quite sure. Make sure you get the magnesium too though. The flint just sparks. Its the magnesium that catches the spark and starts the fire.

  • alrighty good thing you sead that i wouldnt of known

  • @twink4ever go for a JET PACK those always light my fires ^^

  • @twink4ever i got mine at dunhams sporting goods. it was 5$, by coghlan's and it has 4,000 strikes but it is just a little tiny bit harder to strike than the brand name. the 3,000 strike brand name firesteel is 15$ online without shipping.

  • @twink4ever wal mart sells them

  • @twink4ever Check eBay. You can get them with a handle so they're easier to hold firm and throw larger sparks...

  • where do u buy these magnesium bars?

  • There pretty cheap at Canadian Tire

  • be a man and make a fire with 2 sticks!

  • My friends got the video of that. Once he gets it off his camera I'll post it.

  • Actually, we used the little notch beside the blade. The knife is one of them no lockign kinds. If we had used the back, all we would have had was bloody fingers.

  • Which model is your pocket knife ?

  • Just a normal swiss army knife

  • With the back of my Vic OHT it did not get sparks, I do not why ...

  • Actually, this wasn't "flint" in the truest sense of the word. It looked like a ferrocerium/magnesium block that you can find at Walmart. Ferrocerium is a starter that you can strike steel against, but it is a rare earth metal alloy that was invented in the early 1900s. True flint is a carbon crystal similar to quartz and takes much more skill to use.

  • Flint

  • you scraped a knife against what?

  • great! now u should make a video making fire out of two sticks! good luck for that

  • We've already done that. Unfortuneatly, we dotn have a video of it.

  • Do it again then lol!

  • how long should it take
