Granted, I usually run it in warmer weather, but have fired it up in the mid 20s (farenheit) and it does fine. Now 20 below? Hmmm...

the idea of a diesel snowmobile is great 12 yrs ago not possible but with todays technology why not. 12 volt magnetic heater element add on to the fuel tank and it could be left outside. diesels if taken care of properly will outlast gas sometimes even outlast the vehicle they power, so great idea and good luck to ya.
snowmobiles with diesel is a freak'n fail, diesel freezing points is on minus 10 degrees. we get winter diesel but..damn..factories that made em..shame you went down
