@cyberstriker140 Probably the best way to describe the USN/USMC relationship is that the USN and the USMC are each separate parts of the Dept of the Navy. Because Amphibious Operations are a joint responsibility, the USN & the USMC must operate together as if they were one service, even though each is actually a separate service. This is why USN instructors often train Marines, and vice-versa.
This class based over-educated officer selection process heavily *discriminates* ///against/// former enlisted with front line Fleet Aviation experience.
this is pussy school, I think I saw someone in tennis shoes in their class A uniform or whatever they call them. US Army Infantry don't see sneakers til graduation at least in my time
@kalif151byccrew Are you sure this is pussy school? My cousin joined the army, and the first thing they were issued were tennis shoes. My dad was the first class to graduate Navy OCS
@baberaider18 an officer puts himself first you fucking idiot. listen read and then comment until then shut the fuck up. a real officer is the first off the plane and the first boot on the ground. if this asshole had it his way he'd send his men in first that is what he said. barberraider???? nice fucking name faggot
@kalif151byccrew Oh man. Sorry. I didnt read it correctly. Really man. Sorry. And the first class of Navy OCS in 1970. But thanks for clarifying. And my made my youtube in 2008 when i was 9, so the name was faggotish. Lol
@kalijasin They go through a lot of shit too. They have more pressure to succeed than in boot camp. In boot camp you just listen and review what you done. In OCS you have to be innovative as well and not many people can do that. War is an Art
@GhostForces77 The Military considers 4 years of education as a part of your boot camp, training, etc. so it depends on what perspective you are coming from. Personally I see the PT and orders given in regular boot camp much more demanding and strenuous.
@MimicTheRaver Although both officers and regular enlisted have to be physically fit the officers are suppose to be smarter, education wise, as they are the one's who give the orders and commands or do the things that require a higher education. Whereas the regular enlisted are suppose to me more physically stronger or fitter as they are they ones who do most of the fighting ... they are the grunts, so to speak. Now there are exceptions of course but generally that's how it is.
OCS is no joke. Only the strong survive and you need to want it to make it through. You need to be better than average to become a Naval Officer. Good luck and dont give up.
@USMarineRifleman0311 That sucks have to admit. I just love how prolofic (hope it is the right word) americans with their weapons you guys produce so much of them but keep using the low-punching ones for your armed forces ! I know for my country but what kind of caliber do you guys use now ?
Thats a lot of marching, Im sure they go through other stuff as well. Leadership, Exercises, Management, Command tasks, Military History etc etc etc. Video dosent show that.
The one thing I don't like is the ritualized eating.
Yes, I can and do understand the ritual for entering the chow hall and going down the chow line but having to actually eat purely on command is the one thing I don't agree with.
The other thing I don't agree with is US Politicians interfering with the men and women actually in the field with the most incredibly stupid and counter-productive rules of engagement imaginable.
@Maragriz Oh, I wouldn't doubt your own personal experience this way for an instant; it's just that, in my opinion, as an outsider "looking in" I just didn't care for this.
Yes, I can see the need for an orderly entry into the chow hall and obtaining food on a chow line and depositing used plates, utensils and trays within this context, too.
I would suppose that training has to be total; this leaves no room for any individuality that might manifest itself even in the course of eating a meal.
rubber necking in formation... fuck me I wish I could have done that in MCRD San Diego. Everytime I tried to look at the DI or SDI or CDI so I could hear them better I had to go play in the sand =(
Sorry. No. The actor you're thinking of is Robert Urich. (not Ulrich) and has no relation to LCDR Ulrich. I once was fortunate to work with Bob. He was a great guy.
Wow it's GySgt Yacavone @ 4:57.. He was SSgt and was my SDI in platoon 3076 in MCRD Parris Island in the yr 2000. He's gotta be 40 or 41 by now and still doing this crazy stuff. He must love it. He worked hard and was an effective DI.. he was a skeleton by the end of our class. He made me feel like shit sometimes!
That would be cool to reenlist and go officer side. Though, I don't want some punk college kid telling to "get in step!" How about you go F yourself! You were getting drunk and high while I was in Iraq and Afghanistan.
@MilanKorr91 iv been through both officer and enlisted in the marine corps, i have 9 deployments and two purple hearts and trust me this is not training the quality of our officers has gotten so bad the past 20 years its sad, its because the recruits complain to their moms and their congressmen and get mothers of america on the case of the training battalions and they are forced to change the way the officers are trained to coddle them thats why marines are getting killed
@IrishRA I agree with you there. My opinion, let the military do it's own shit. It's obviously worked for the last 200 years. Why congressmen even listen to that crap, I have no idea.
You haven't had a real OCS experience until your class embarasses your Class DI (Rock) in front of Master Guns in the 8th week by enjoying Mt. Dew and Snickers bars at the water survival pool. In that same week, Candidate Cl#ver, one of OCS's most infamous roll-ins, has a shirt made insulting his previous DI's manhood and leadership abilities. I think we were the most senior class to ever be unsecured. Memories, oh memories.
@ipostini I bet the DI's were on their best behavior in front of the cameras. You didn't catch them kicking candidates in the ass or using foul language either huh? Whats up with the protective helmets on the leadership course. If you got injured on the leadership course when I was there, it was your fault and you were doing the course incorrectly (darwin). We started off with 45 in my class the first day and graduated with 21 original candidates with 10 additional roll-ins.
Why didn't you show Chow hall procedures, the Mashings, The Rose Garden, and the SUYA.? 5am to 10 pm is bullshit. More like 0430-0100 hrs the first month.
I don't think my class ever sat down for chow for the first 3 weeks. Almost 10 years later and that place still gives me the heebie jeebies. I'm so glad I didn't roll and end up staying there any longer than I had to.
This was produced in '07 but never made it to the disc. The Navy gave us tremendous cooperation. And the men and women we met were incredible.
