  • Tonight the city is full of morgues... This is amazing! Never seen this version thanks! My fav beck song ever.

  • I'm Kim Deal from Sonic Youth...too funny!

  • @johnlaughnfaggapples hahah wrong band beck

  • Mel-low Gold, heres BECK performing song.

  • lol kim deal of sonic youth

  • lol i can't believe this dude got famous, he sucks

  • @KlRobbie Dude, you listen to Kid Cudi... I wouldn't trust you to evaluate talent if it stared you in the face.

  • @thespecter2 well dude, true musicians listen to everything, people who say "oh you listen to him bleh" are posers. i gave my opinion, i think his guitar playing sucks and he's off tune, so yeah i think he's a bad musician and singer not to mention his lyrics boohoo cry about it.

  • @KlRobbie LOL true musicians don't listen to everyone. That is the problem these days... Are you an employee at hot topic or something? You listen to music you like, not to have an eclectic collection of music just for the sake of it. That dilutes any persona or zing you might have and just throws you in with the tasteless masses. Kid Cudi isn't all that bad. There is nothing to pose about though... And again, his guitar playing is off tune? Doesn't sound off tune to me.

  • @thespecter2 you misunderstood me, i listen to what i like, folk, blues, rock, hip hop... if it's good i'd listen to it, not because it's "cool" or not cool but because it sounds good to me. well sorry man i disagree maybe i have higher standards when it comes to guitar skills... stevie ray vaughn, bb king, eric clapton, slash, al di meola...

  • @thespecter2 oh i forgot to mention his voice... not a good singer at least not good enough for my 2 dollars

  • @KlRobbie Yeah, that is a good mindset to have. I am not big on technicals and skilled artists. I am more on the talent side. Natural ability is something you can't learn. You can sit up in your room all day and learn technical skills on guitar... *Yawn*. But I like guitarists like Jerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, BB King is cool. Soul > technical skills any day.

  • @thespecter2 being skilled is talent, you're sort of contradicting yourself. all those artists you just mentioned learned knew and practiced technical stuff, nobody ever picked up a guitar and just knew how to play just like scientists arent born scientists they become. obviously some more skilled than others but it doesn't mean they didn't grind scales in their first steps in music, and if you think they didn't then i feel sorry for you man

  • @KlRobbie Lol, man oh man. You aren't getting the clue here. Ok example: Kurt Cobain. Shitty guitarist, just shitty. Yet uber talented. And I am not sure you see the difference between the two. Aretha Franklin: Uber talented, somewhat skilled. She was a natural singer. Bob Dylan: Shitty, shitty singer, not that good a guitar player. Yet uber talented songwriter. Do you see where I am coming from? Not anybody can "learn" how to write songs. There is a naturalism to it.

  • @thespecter2 yeah man i understand what you're saying, but i think it's a classic "the king's clothes" story, and i think somebody should come up and say it that dude sucks and bob dylan made maybe 3 good songs but he's pretty fucked up too. a whole lot of fuss because of media and shit not cause of talent or skill.

  • @KlRobbie Bob Dylan made about 40 good songs. You are really uneducated and unaware of heart and passion in music. Bob Dylan shook the nation, John Lennon shook the nation, Kurt Cobain shook the nation... And all the while Eddie Van Halen and Eric Clapton were sitting in their bedrooms practicing doodliedoos on their guitars. Media and shit? Why do you think the media attached to Bob Dylan? It was forced to.

  • @thespecter2 maybe 40 sucky ones. the only uneducated person here is you and what you describe as passion, seems more like laziness and unwillingness to work and sweat.

the media is crap, and the media is probably the most fake thing out there.i'm not even gonna say anything about van halen and clapton because i don't need to protect their honor as guitar gods. anyway, i showed this video to my girlfriend and she just started laughing, she said it's embarrassing...

  • @KlRobbie The media was forced to follow Bob Dylan because audiences followed him. He had something to say. None of these so called "guitar gods" had anything to say. Jimi Hendrix was revolutionary. Van Halen wasn't. Van Halen just doodliedooed all day. Jimi Hendrix revolutionized the electric guitar. Again, your dimwittedness is showing more. You seem to have no emotional inclination pertaining to music. All you can read is technical skill. Dull brained.

  • @thespecter2 "doodliedooed"? obviously someone who speaks like that about van halen has no clue in music, let alone the word itself, good luck in preschool. you're probably way to lazy to actually learn anything, this conversation is getting boring obviously you have no ear for music just by thinking that beck is in tune lol. listen to it again, i can't my ears are already bleeding.

  • @KlRobbie I think this conversation is getting boring just like Bob Dylan gets boring. I have taken music theory and vocal lessons through Asbury Music Department and performed in the San Francisco choir. I have been playing guitar for 5 years now. Classical music is more similar to the bands I have mentioned above any of those stupid guitar aficionados like Van Halen. They don;t understand melody or chord progressions, all they can do is doodliedoo.

  • @thespecter2 You should know that music isn't about being in tune, or being an AMAZING VAN HALEN GUITARIST. This song is fantastic no matter how its played, and all of Rolling Stone magazine agrees with me.

  • @futurfry So... why are you replying to me and saying that? I was the one arguing against the Van Halen guitarist thing. Go back and reread what you are missing.

  • @thespecter2 oh hah

Obviously no offense to you, then

  • @KlRobbie That is why they write shit songs and are just about "riffs". No one takes bands like that seriously in the classical community. Van Halen is loser-ass, pointless, nonmusical band. They have always been shit. And no ear for music? An ear is one of the core values I do have. And what have you done musically? Please don't say nothing, you can even lie to save yourself if you'd like. Because you talk a mean shit.

  • @thespecter2 i don't need to prove anything to you, you're the dust i walk on.

i notice you get heated up here so i'm not gonna bash you back or whatever i'm happy with my life and i proved myself to the important people in my life, i play guitar and ukulele in my free time the rest doesn't concern you, i wish you half the happiness i have in every aspect ;)

  • @KlRobbie You're weird as fuck dude. lol.

  • @thespecter2 ^_^ dude like i said i don't look to put you down or anything like that cause i know my worth and the people who know me value me, and i'm never afraid to speak my mind even if it goes against the majority of people. the strongest point of a person is not putting anybody else down especially when you are greater, trust me it'll get you ahead in life =)

  • @KlRobbie You just put me down my patronizing. And saying that you are greater. So, actually you do put people down - which means you are full of shit by saying you don't. Similar to your musical credo. The fact that you have to announce your self-proclaimed worth shows you are pretty weak. Knock the smarmy attitude off and get a clue.

  • @thespecter2 i was talking in general dude you just make it personal, it's like you look for a fight... you're a sad person

  • @KlRobbie Yep I wanna fight. That's exactly it. How did you know? lol

  • @thespecter2 grow up.

  • @KlRobbie I wanna be like you when I grow up.

  • @thespecter2 hahaha

  • @KlRobbie why can't you believe that? A lot of sucky singers get famous. I actually quite like Beck, but he's not for everyone.

  • haha he's so weird

  • he's so nervous

  • Fuck yeah! Rock and Roll!

  • This put a giant smile on my face

  • Kim deal from sonic youth hes such a crock <3

  • What an ending. EXCELLENT.

  • This was a great album. Beck blew my mind. Rad.

    The dude can write!

  • Is it just me or does Thurston look like David Bowie from like 1965?

  • "I'm Kim Deal of Sonic Youth..."

I have officially lost my shit. Hahahahahaha!

  • 480p My ass

  • I like how 'Charles Manson's Epic Question' is linked to this video.

  • leg...

  • good song @ /watch?v=oKXwc_hMKhw

  • lol the ending

  • The part when he says "uptight and perky" is from his song "mtv makes me want to smoke crack" he was making a refrence to that song because he was on mtv , lol.

  • @EvanTheKillerWolf oh man, i didn't even notice that. That's pretty great xD

  • thurston's shit eater grin is the best

  • STONED

  • :D Beck is so funny.

  • Respond to this video... and it doesnt affect your IQ you can take your aluminum foil hat off now

  • @88douchebag Many fluoride minerals are known, but of paramount commercial importance are fluorite and fluorapatite.[5] Fluoride is found naturally in low concentration in drinking water and foods. Waters from underground sources are more likely to have higher levels of fluoride, whereas the concentration in seawater averages 1.3 parts per million (ppm).[6] Fresh water supplies generally contain between 0.01–0.3 ppm, whereas the ocean contains between 1.2 and 1.5 ppm.[7]

  • we love you, Beck

  • I think he's high.

  • EPIC GUITAR SOLO!!!!!

  • He done changed up the lyrics! Sounds GREAT! Beck rocks!

  • WHOA!!! I haven't seen this in years; I remember seeing it on 120 minutes. I just realized that he teased the melody from the intro to Metroid at the very end. Awesome!!!

  • ...and someone kissed their own ass by mistake...

  • best solo ever!

  • i love how he ended the song so much

  • the world comes and goes and lies and spins out of the spine of desire to believe.

  • I have no mind to pay. I wish they wouldn't play but leave me in the greyhound station.

  • this is my personality unaffected but people really worked to get me to care. No, I don't want to die.

  • I'm goin to start calling dildos 'ghetto blasters' now.

  • you can totally see the ridiculously intense look on Becks face right after they cut the song in the middle and it goes back on ahahaha xDD

  • LIKE A GIANT DILDO CRUSHING THE SUN!!!

  • Wow, it's been about ten years since I last heard this.

  • ghettoblaster crushing the sun

  • becks gay

  • @Boganvillar are you kidding me?

  • @memgrizz1132225033 Nope, I'm totally serious

  • @Boganvillar so why do you think he is gay?

  • @memgrizz1132225033 Cause I slept with him

  • @Boganvillar ooohh clever

...because apparently sexual orientation can be determined by how one sings?

  • @meehee45 No not by how he sings, I SLEPT WITH HIM.

  • @Boganvillar FO REALZ??

    awesome.

  • @Boganvillar then sorry I was rude (=

for the record...I would completely sleep with Beck [I'd be willing to drop the lesbian thing for a night]

  • @meehee45 :D

  • LOL Beck is a genius, this is the funniest thing I've ever seen capped off by an ironically horrible solo at the end.. Tim & Eric ain't got shit on Beck

  • um the lyrics where totally changed but this is still good.....nice

  • @vrobert1979 Yeah since it was an MTV performance he had to clean up the parts about whores, dildos and drugs.

  • @johntkooz It's Beck. At the beginning, he's pretending to be Kim Deal because they look similar.

  • @Musicaltyler Wait. Did I say because they look similar? Brilliant of me.

  • i wonder if he meant to say kim deal.

  • BAhahaha. Kim Deal of Sonic Youth. Classic.

  • brilliant shit "kim deal of sonic youth", lol thrurston must ave' been like wait what? the fucking Pixies?

  • its like he ate a bunch of shrooms before he went to the studio, but its just the way he is...the interview is pretty funny, he misses the high five but he got the one in this vid

  • that was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen

  • he should of said "thank you" at the end lol

  • @andywarstarforever What? I don't remember what i had commmented you, hahaha, it must have been ages ago, remind me a little bit :) ...

  • give the finger to the rock n roll singer as hes dancing upon your paycheck

  • perfect california mutant

  • He's so pleased with himself at the end and then he kind of gets a little self conscious.

    I love it.

  • brilliant

  • hes sooooooooooooo beast

  • Beck's a bit baked.

  • @InsomniaDonkey A bit?! :^)

  • He's soooooooo stoned ;-)

  • He's sooooooo hot.

  • That was brilliant!

  • look for something like this in MTV today

  • fuck censorship

  • I love the both of them.

  • I love the young, stoner, fuck-authority Beck, lol.

  • This song is the anthem to my town.

  • Oh how beck has evolved.. mind blowing.. I do like his early stuff and it's great to see where he came from.. but I don't know if I'd buy an album if it was all like this.

  • @ruecks Then you suck!

  • @ruecks Well if you want to hear an album with songs performed like this download Banjo Story

  • Furstin More!

  • hahahaaaa!! i love this! Beck just proves that you don't have to sell out on Mtv just to please your brain-dead audience and be popular,

  • It's MTV's 120 minutes i'm Kim Deal of Sonic Youth your guest host tonight and now with music from his soon to be released debut album "Mellow Gold" here is Beck performing song.

  • mmmm, Martin D35... Never seen Beck with one of those.

  • Aaaah the good old times. The ninties alternative "indie rock" scene. Will we ever have something like this again?

  • @janotosinnumeros oh man...i only wish

  • @janotosinnumeros oh man...i only wish

  • @meehee45 I know I'm gonna sound cliché, but it's up to us...I guess...

  • @janotosinnumeros haha...but youre totally right. theres some awesome bands out there, the only difference is that theres less people looking for them

  • @meehee45 Yeah man (or woman). And it's true there's like never been a "creative energy" like this...

  • @janotosinnumeros i am a woman...and i agree. this is one of my favorite albums by beck, but all of his stuff is incredibly inventive and creative. I just hope he keeps putting out records (after all...outside the music world 39 is not that old)

  • @janotosinnumeros

every decade is unique and i doubt this brilliance will be matched

  • Comment removed

  • @nilbog44 hope you're not right

  • @janotosinnumeros Fortunately, history always repeats itself.

  • @clw550235 let's hope so!

  • @janotosinnumeros we still have this now, u just have to look harder, it won't b on MTV n e more... ;)

  • @janotosinnumeros no... and it suck we wont

  • @janotosinnumeros of course there will, all this build up of shitty music will lead into an inevitable rebellion against pop princess crap just as it did in the 70s when disco came about and punk had to stamp it out. there is a huge gap to fill and before long it will be filled. it wont be the same as the 90s but thats a good thing im sure it will be interesting none the less.

  • this is so awesome...hes so badass, just like fucking it up on television and then laughing at the end

  • Strange how much the song has changed.

  • this is really an anti-folk presentation as it should be!!!

  • i love how he replaced a giant dildo with a ghetto blaster...

  • "someone kissed their own ass by mistake :p"

  • Thurston's face 0:12 lol

  • @OpheliaMermaid since Kim Deal is with the Pixies....
