  • Why is everyone complaining about Peter Pan being a girl? Guys have played girls before, girls have played guys before. It's not that weird and I thought she did a good job.

  • It's Now Tradition for a woman to play peter Pan in the play! You can look it up but I think Mary Martin was the first ! after they have all been female Gymnast! i can't remember but some of them were quite famous from the olympics!

  • wait... a woman is peter pan?? what is this??

  • omg i just finished watching it. it just like how i remembered it ...thanks for uploading it

  • Had it on VHS, with commercials at beginning, end, and "intermission." My dad says I watched it 60 times before I turned 5...which I don't remember! One of my all time favorites, represents a more innocent time. Thank you for the post!!!

  • It says: "Has been very limited in its showing. The DVD is long out of print and expensive to own." That's one of the many reasons FOR piracy. Thanks to YTD, there is now another copy of this classic.

  • OH MY GOD. now all i need is some pixie dust and my laptop will begin to fly...

  • THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD!

  • Nothing like the classics

  • Ugga wugga wigwam!

  • You gotta love the wire work. LOLOLOL XD This is one of my favorite childhood movies.

  • Wonder why this isn't re-issued on DVD. I must've caught the very last sale of it back in the 90's, It was a very good (and affordable) DVD, with one or two small scenes 'restored' to the video. The only thing it didn't include was the animation of the very first NBC peacock, which was always played in front of the TV broadcasts. It was aired as late as 1995 (perhaps to introduce the show on DVD for the first time), then went to GoodTimes DVD, then disappeared. This is a great video.

  • i loved watching this movie growing up. we had it recorded on vhs. thank you so much for the upload.

  • Thanks for posting this! I remember watching this on TV with my family when I was very little. My mum was always excited that it was on & made a special Family occasion out of it. It was shown as a repeat, as I was only 2 in 1960, so I must have seen it when I was older. recently, I was thinking how much I'd like to see it again & show it to my grandkids - then I came across this!

  • Thanks so much for sharing this!

  • havent seen this movie is such a long time im so excited that its on here

  • I had this on VHS years ago! I barely remember this.

  • a blonde white chick as tiger lily... wtf?

  • I always loved the way the mother just seemed to bubble when she said 'I hid it!'

  • Was the Act III title card lost or was it overlooked back in 1960?

  • @moviebuff1975 Yeah I never got that either because as a kid I would count the act cards.

  • Originally telecast on December 8, 1960.

  • Good! This has the scene that was cut the last time they showed it on TV.

  • @al1936ful What scene is that?

  • @TheBookWorm1718 Te scene in which Liza the maid dances with the trees and the animals. It happens just after Peter says goodnight to Wendy and is guarding the house they built for her.

  • @al1936ful They cut that out from TV? Unbelievable.

  • paolo ilove peter pan ilike her dancing like a pirate

  • Great musical score... For me, Cyril Ritchard steals the show as Captain Hook. mcj545, thanks for finding and uploading this...

  • Wonderful times of innocence! Actually watched it with my brothers and Mom & Dad as a family in black and white. Good memories! Mom & Dad are gone, but the bothers are stronger than ever!

  • Wow, didn't know a copy of this existed! Saw it as a mere lad in Memphis when it was first broadcast...brother was i mesmerized by it! Thanks mcj!

  • When people point out that peter pan is a girl and I'm all like 'thanks for pointing out the obvious asshole'

  • I grew up Watching this!! I'm so glad I rediscovered this!! I love this version of Peter Pan. The only downside is the songs stay stuck in your head! and thats not much of a downside at all. Thanks for posting this!

  • this is the version i grew up with. because of that i feel every incarnation of peter pan should employ a blonde tiger lily, regardless of whether or not it makes sense

  • @Jami86e Ha ha, I totally agree, I've only seen clips of the animated Disney movie but I remember seeing her there looking more Indian and thinking 'she's not right!'

  • thats a gurl lol peter pan is suposed to be a dude

  • @scrumptiousb0dy back when Peter Pan was performed as a play, Peter was played by a woman because the character of Peter was supposed to be a boy of prepubescant age, and due to child labor laws and requirements of the material, they couldn't have an 8 year old boy play Peter.

  • @mcj545 ooo. but they couldnt find a olerman that looked young atleast?

  • @scrumptiousb0dy The problem is the voice. While they could find an older man who looked young, he wouldn't SOUND young. Most young boys are able to sing in a soprano voice or a high alto voice. Most men above the age of 13 are unable to sing that high anymore, there for from a vocal standpoint a woman was the only choice.

  • Best peter pan movie ever! Mary Martin rocks!!! This was the best play when Mary did it :-)

  • Classic charme!!! thank you!!!

  • MY FAVORITE PETER PAN EVERRRRR

  • This is boring

  • @R3alMdrid soccer is borring

  • I like the new version it is more better

  • Peterpan don't look like boy

  • Peter pan is a girl

  • This was my favorite....To me Cyril Ritchard will always be Hook to me. And Mary Martin Peter Pan

  • I think Cathy Rigby was much more convincing as a boy.

  • 19:03 then pause, wendy makes a silly face lol :)

  • I have this movie at home too, but my VHS player broke, so I watch this on the internet. Besides, nobody watches tapes anymore anyway. That's why I'm lucky to be watching this on Youtube. And I thought I was never going to watch it again.

  • @lilbl6 I still watch my VHS tapes. The fuzzy picture quality brings back good memories.

  • I have this at home, it's the best!!
