  • This is such a beautiful scene. I can't help but watch this every once in a while due to it's wonderful interpretation of the Western times. It has a depressing yet exhilarating tone to it that helps me appreciate life even more than I ever have.

  • This is the film that got me into Westerns.

  • Why did she put his hand on her boob?

  • I kind of felt sorry for Robert Ford. He never amounted to much of anything and basically lived off the fame of someone else until meeting his own demise.

  • Killing people is a depressive thing.

    Good movie though.

  • I'm 25 years old. I've seen tonnes of films since I could remember. But this film and particularly this scene means so much to me, that I will not have words to describe it. I've told every people I know to watch this film. This is by far the greatest thing I've seen on TV, and will definitely still be for the rest of my life. Casey Affleck and Brad Pitt's acting were sublime. I never liked Brad, but I love him now thanks to this film. I told my family to play that tune in my funeral.

  • does every noble gunman have to see it coming? Wild Bill in Deadwood, Jesse James here, Jimmy in Boardwalk Empire, EVERYONE in The Wire. Hell can't one of 'em just turn coward, shoot a few underlings, disappear and presumably live another couple decades?

  • @ravenouscolonelhart Noble is hardly a word I'd use descriping Jesse James. ;) That being said, I too felt sad watching Wild Bill and Jimmy get it. ;(

  • .......if only it was Justin Bieber.

  • i love Casey <3

  • nice schofield

  • @1hogfan83 i don't actually think Robert Ford was carrying a schofield, it is certainly a Smith &n Wesson model 3. you can tell by the size of its frame. But on close examination throughout the scenes in which the gun can be seen it doesn't have the schofield grip or the top break latch of the schofield, but has the latch of the eariler american model. which would simply make this pistol a .44 calibre smith & wesson model 3 revolver

  • :"(

  • Whats that song being played?

  • @TheOxideClan "What Must Be Done" by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis.

    watch?v=O6KFvYCrB4E

  • Genialna scena brakuje mi słów żeby to opisać coś niesamowitego

  • this is in my opinion the most well made death scene of all time.

  • Awesome!!!

  • Im truly sad that so few of u understood this film. Jesse let Fords kill him because he was tired. Tired of running away, tired of psychological games between him and Fords, tired of seeing hes friends who lied to him and who wanted to sell him out. Bob claims later then that he killed him because he was afraid of his life. I imagine he was also disappointed about how Jesse treated him.He though hes a hero, while he wasnt. Finally Bob wanted to have his five minutes, moment of fame.Very sad film

  • I mean who else but Brad PItt could play him

  • his life sums up mine a man in a civil war that never ended

  • id like to hear this song before i die

  • The true story behind why Jesse took his guns off / turned his back to Bob and cleaned the picture is this: Jesse found out that Bob was lying to him and he called Bob out on it. Jesse knew Bob was lying, but he didn't want to kill him..not at home in front of his wife and children. He made the decision to kill Bob later that night when they planned to leave town and ride to a job that they had going He took his belts off as a show to Bob that he had "forgiven" him. Instead it backfired on Jesse

  • @PanditMusic

and Bob killed Jesse first. Jesse also turned his back to Bob and cleaned the picture in front of Bob as another show of "forgiveness" or "I've forgotten that you f-ed me over". Bob stated later in a police report that he knew it was going to be his only chance if he was going to kill Jesse. He took it, and it resulted in Bob killing Jesse.

  • @PanditMusic and you know this how? Perhaps you are privy to some part of his mind that the rest of us are ignorant of?

  • Jesse James was a war criminal, a thief, a murderer. But He did not deserve an end like this. Not with his family in the same home. No man does.

  • Feige Sau!! !!

  • did he want to die? beacuse he was really depressed crying n shit and he was also sick when he found out the ford brothers were snitches he just....put his gun on the sofa and said the painting looks dusty...also in this video hes looking at his daughter all sad n shit is there anything wrong with what i said? or does it sound right to you guys aswell?

  • @AliTobi oh and i forgot to say when hes looking at the picture he sees robert ford with a gun pointing at him and jesse didnt do anything but put his head down

  • @AliTobi Yeah, I think some part of it is that he won't ever be able to win out in the end, so he kinda spends a good portion of this movie setting poor creepy Bob up to kill him, thereby cementing his story as a heroic rogue, not a has-been who got taken in by the law in the end. Obviously he's sad about leaving his family, but it's like he's more concerned with his reputation and his infamy, so he allows Bob to kill him.

  • I felt sorry for rob at the end of the movie he was in a lot of pain people treated badly and jesse was still considered a hero many years after his death so nothing changed

  • The aftermath is what really churns the stomach

  • Great movie and acting!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • He was a murderer not a hearo we shouldn't forget that...but Robert Ford was also a murderer

  • jesse deserved what he got. Think about all the robberies and murders jesse commited. what if that happened today. would everybody love someone that did that?

  • I came here on my own merit, how the hell was I supposed to know a cartoon bear parodied this?

  • coward's....both of them

  • this movie is one of the few things to come out of these bleak times for popular art. Amazing back to basics, yet infinitely heart rushing simple score. this scene in particular can make you weep for an old dead confederate crook.

  • Best western ever.

  • mary louis-parker is so HOT!

  • damn you robert ford never die jesse from kosovo

  • @albblood74 robert ford got killed 10-20 years later by his brother for turning his brother in to prison

  • @topdawg732 Lol No he didn't, he got shot by Ed O'Kelly.

  • @jcdixon97 and who is that

  • @topdawg732 It's the name of the man who killed Robert Ford, he wasn't anyone's brother, he just wanted to avenge JJ's death. Can I ask if you watched the movie?

  • @jcdixon97 i watched the movie i just havent seen it in a while

  • @topdawg732 No he got killed by a stranger name Edward O'Kelley, to avenge the death of jesse james or to become famous i suppose

  • @HuntKromatik watched it yesterday and ed was one of the guys in his gang but he ended up in prison. he came out in his fifties and shot robert with a shotgun. then was sentenced to life in prison and was almost exicuted.

  • @topdawg732 in the movie Jesse kills Ed Miller. Edward O'Kelley is the one who kills Bob Ford.

  • damn you robert ford from kosovo

  • He he pointed the gun at him, cocked it,and shot. It was an accident alright. He so didn't deserve that!

  • @STCooper1 jesse james totally deserved to be shot he wasnt a nice guy he murdered and stole for a living

  • @sokerstar45 No he stole and killed because he thought the war wasn't over. It influenced him in a way it didn't influence Frank. And he only murdered those people who had done terrible things to him. He only killed when others tried to kill him, not just for fun like this movie shows and he wasn't a backshooter. He wasn't a man of nothing but evil and didn't deserve to die the way he did. This movie is a very fictionalized protrayal of his life. Ask me how if you want to know.

  • @STCooper1 I had no idea you knew the man personally? The truth is no one knows what kind of man he was, or what his motivations were... Step down from your high horse Sir.

  • @smilesmilesmilehead I do know because his brother Frank, with whom he was close, said he was only what he was because of how the war effected him. He was very young and wasn't as mature at the time he joined the war, so he and Frank were effected by it differently. Frank said Jesse never considered the war to be over and that he looked at what he did as fighting in a war that never ended. Jesse was also not an entirely bad man as he was a devoted father and husband. Jesse's motivation was war.

  • @smilesmilesmilehead Picking up where I left off, Jesse only murdered about three men in his life. All others were trying to kill him when he shot them and therefore it was really murder, it was manslaughter at beast. Those few he did murder had done terrible things to Jesse and deserved to die because of their reactions to having done them. All of which were pride. Take that into consideration before berating me. Understand?

  • @STCooper1 k.

  • @smilesmilesmilehead Good. Have a nice day.

  • @STCooper1 Sarcasm obviously doesn't work in type...

  • @smilesmilesmilehead Nope, apparently not. Still, remember what I said and have a nice day. This isn't sarcasm.

  • A warning to all of you who watch this movie because of the Yogi parody. The film is very slow, the tone is very bleak and depressing, but it is an extremely beautiful and well made movie. Easily one of my top 10 favorites. Jesse gets to the point where he's so depleted and tired of running, that he allows Ford to kill him.

  • @thecitythatreads Yea you are right about that, it was good but very slow. I love it though.

  • he killed him because he was wanted dead for lots of money

  • @XxrushxX1 no he killed him to save himself and to secure an amnesty, the reward came later.

  • Thumbs up if Ty Power brought you here. ..... (or if you at least know who Ty Power was)

  • Now I feel like watching film.

  • Keep pressing 7

  • @dodobirdfred lol

  • @dodobirdfred ty i got serious lulz

  • I still have no idea y he killed him

  • @skuzy1354

    You serious?

  • ok i guess i was the only one who watched the movie first then recognized it after seeing yogi bear one

  • @MrZombiekiller23 Haha, I just seen the Yogi bear one... it took me a while before I remembered where I seen it.

  • what a cool headshot

  • poor yogi

  • No, he didn't do it.

  • Fuck yogi bear

  • Yogi Bear is equally well directed.

  • YOGI!

  • I've been in the room where it really happened. The house still stands today.

  • Thumbs up if yogi bear brought you here

  • @dhoomknight yup yup but no thumps up

  • @dhoomknight yeah it did lol

  • @dhoomknight Thumbs up. haha

  • @dhoomknight

    fuck you

  • @dhoomknight

Watch the film. Stuff Yogi Bear.

It's a masterpiece and a profound insight into the superficiality of status & reputation, and also an elite sporting into society misconceptions and hypocrisy. Cinematically, it is beautifully shot and has one of the most haunting, impressive scores of all time.

It's, dare I say it, perfect, and possibly the greatest film of all time (with A Clockwork Orange & The King of Comedy being strong contenders).

  • jesus man y me

  • yogi & boo boo brought me here

    this is sad :'(

  • @hedhok2 me too! I knew I´d heard that line somewhere! :( sob

  • what a lil bitch

  • damn you boo boo

  • thumbs up 4 yogi

  • Yogi sent me

  • @Argee11 Lol same!

  • yogi brought me here

  • Why do I have the feeling that many people are now looking up this scene thanks to Yogi Bear?

  • @ScratStitch i didn't know about this so i checked hehehe killing brad pitt and yogi the bear priceless

  • @ScratStitch Lol I am

  • @ScratStitch Thats the reason I looked this up.

  • @ScratStitch well that's the reason I looked it up lol

  • @ScratStitch because people don't watch incredible films such as this unless something popular references it. it's such a good movie though.

  • why did they want to kill him?

    :(

  • does he know robert ford is going to kill him? thats the impression i got...

  • @Joshalidina Yes, he does.

  • @RadioactiveMicrobe Thanks.

  • @Joshalidina oh he knows right away

  • Remember me Patt Garrett Killing Billy the kid, two cowards, killing tow legends...

  • My favorite part of the entire movies is when Bob says "I swear to god I didn't" I laugh every time.

  • As he fell off the chair: "THAT DONE RUINED MY DAY! BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA" God I love that laugh he does earlier on in the movie

  • dude there would be way more blood splatter and more brain matter on the wall if you could shot in the head!

  • @brandonlamchops Guns weren't built the way they are now. Jesse's head was fairly intact, even in reality. So it wouldn't have blown up like an over ripe melon.

Also, just from a creative standpoint, this movie wasn't about gore. It would have been really distracting to the point of the scene.

  • Bob Ford wasn't a coward. He was just a young fellow bereaved of his dreams and pushed to the limit by never knowing your friends from enemies...

  • i dont get y but the movie title seems as if bob is the bad guy not jesse

  • why did he kill him?

  • @markkochubey Reward money....fame.....fear that Jesse would kill him first...

  • jesse knew, robert is going to kill him one day, thats why he allowed to do it, without his guns and turned back, for the rest of his life, and after, robert is known as Coward, Jesse deserved to die other way.

  • Beautiful music + epic headshot = 'i like button' x)

  • best scene of the whole movie---anyone know on youtube where i can just hear this soundtrack

  • This was a good movie but was extremely slow...I know that they're trying to tell a different kind of story here about Jesse James but the movie still suffered heavily from this problem.

  • @redwingsguy96

Maybe for the general public. But if I'm telling a story, I go at my own pace, not speed it up to please others. I had no problem with the pacing, I loved it.

  • How the hell did they not win an oscar!!!!???

  • i love the movie and the book, however this part is so much better in the movie, alot slower and more dramatic, but the book is really good :)

  • Y did ford shoot him?

  • @bentilblow999 it was a near certainty Jesse was going to kill him and his brother + the governor would grant a reward and pardon to Bob and Charley for any wrongdoings. I also think Bob was young and wanted more than anything to make a name for himself. He was apologetic for his actions in later life.

  • @SpiroHrvoje1989 that's sad.......

  • check out my reenactment of this scene, i did it cut for cut so its like the same. i play each character. i think i did a pretty good job. this is one of my favorite movies.

  • More like, "The execution of Jesse James"

  • poor jesse

  • The very death scene looked awesome, slamming against the picture and falling off his chair.

And then I turned on the vuvuzelas.

  • Casey Affleck is the fucking man.

  • This is a GREAT movie.

  • why are all the assassination scenes in god damn full screen???

  • Comment removed

  • @Colt2571 i really don't understand that question

  • @BoeboeBeats youtube search...Wide Screen VS Full Screen

  • I havent seen the movie so I don't know, but why did they kill him?

  • Shit that reminds me of last weekend

  • cant someone upload the zooey deschanel bit of this film? i cant find it anywhere on youtube.

  • fuck you ford!

  • I don't think there is a scene as tense as this in recent film. I would have loved to have seen it with an audience

  • 4:42

    "Have you done this?"

    Gets me every time.

She was the best in this particular scene, so real!

  • Comment removed

  • @ezemdi Me too! 4:42 She gets me every time...

  • What is the song ?

  • If Brad Pitt is Jesse James, Jesse saw the two others with their guns. He was armed, why didn't he defend himself ??

  • People can't agree on it. Some think he wanted to show that he meant no harm so he didn't keep his guns on him. Others think maybe he accepted it

  • he knew it was his time to go, he wanted them to kill him, in the film he was already giving hints to suicide

  • Because he wasn't armed. According to legend, Jesse James took his guns off because he was afraid the neighbors would see them and give him away. Plus, it's believed that Jesse was standing on a chair when Bob shot him. In reality, I believe Jesse would've been taller than Brad Pitt, which means he would have been a pretty hard target to miss.

  • whats the gun robert for usses?

  • Why is Robert Ford a coward and Jesse not?? Jesse murdered INNOCENT people in COLD blood. He deserved to be shot. This was an amazingly innaccurately portrayed story...not suprised that garbage hollywood twists the story to favor the villian and make the good guy look bad.

  • It seems you are ignorant of the accurate history. Robert Ford WAS universally hated for his act of betrayal. They viewed him along the likes of Benedict Arnold and Brutus. If you did not actually watch the film, it portrays right down to the t of the after effects of the killing and how it affected the nation. Later on, Ford would regret, considering it as the greatest mistake he ever made. And 10 years following the killing, he himself would be murdered by a vengeful person.

  • yes but what i dont understand is why people hated him for killing jesse. I mean he was a murder and robber. or what is because of how he did is to why people hated ford? because of the betrayal?

  • @auq21: Realize the South concidered the entire North murderers and robbers for what they did to southerners, raiding, killing and disenfranchising families even before the war started, especially in missouri. He had support because he was robbing to get revenge against the north and disrupt growth of the new Union. Alot of people didn't feel he was doing any worse than what the North did to the entire South years earlier. JJ wasn't the only one, he was just better, and lasted longer.

  • @auq21 Jesse was a murderer, but not a back shooter. Everyone back then knew that. That is why everyone hated Ford for killing him. Because he was a coward in doing so,and yes because of his betrayal. People eventually saw how he did it in the theater.

  • @smgamer1 if you've seen the film jesse is actually a back shooter, look what he've done with ed miller.

  • @gamesoldier007 Yes,I've seen the film and it is highly fictionalized in many ways. Jesse's family have stated it was more true than most, but it still is inaccurate in several ways. That was one of them. Here are some other ways. He got along with his brother much better than that in real life. Bob Ford was never bitter towards him, just afraid. He didn't give him that gun to say sorry, but say congratulations on his pluck and daring,in his own words. I have seen a more accurate film than this one

  • @gamesoldier007 JJ admitted to several killings but not Ed Miller, no one ever really knew who killed him, one assumption was that it was JJ because he was likely to be in the area, but JJ liked Ed Miller. Some feel Cummins killed Miller, knowing JJ may be coming through the area and afraid Ed would reveal Cummins whereabouts. Another thought is his death was faked so he could leave the gang, but that's unlikey. In the movie they take the assumption it was JJ and add the confession.

  • Apparently you haven't seen the film. The title (which comes from the book, not Hollywood) is in reference to how the public saw James and Ford. The film makes it clear that Ford and his brother were remorseful for their actions, as well as showing that James himself was far from perfect.

  • @sgtduval there is no bad guy good guy u fuckin idiot...go suck dick n stop bitching

  • the fact that this movie went home oscarless is such a shame. it EASILY should have won

    best supporting actor

best original score (where was the nomination???)

i still think though that no country for old men had the best cinematography of the year

  • roger deakins is a modern-day saint.

  • I guess he thought that he deserved to die.

  • FAVORITE part lol....srsly people who havent seen it. SEE it.

  • i think he let them kill him cause he didnt like what he had become but he would of killed charley n bob then but another reason was cause his daughter was in the garden n he didnt want his children to know he was a criminal soo he did suicide

  • I only saw this film once. I found it to be a beautifully made picture. But can someone please help answer my question. Why would a man of James' reputation for vengeance and violence pretty much "resign" himself to death as he did in this scene. He takes off his gun belt, sees Bob in the reflection with a revolver pointed at him, and does nothing. I had a problem with that. Any thoughts? Truly, I'd like to know more.

  • he was talking about suicide earlier in the movie if you remember... and he was depressed. hes sharp enough to know what was happening. he wanted it.

  • He had just read Dick Liddle was caught and confessing, saw right through the Fords, his old band would have let him know about Liddle way before. Liddle was part of blue cut and several robberies, so he knew a rope was waiting. There was no one left who had the true rage he did, it wasnt about robbing banks, it was revenge at the north and disrupting the new union. It was a 15 year fight and he realized there wasn't anyone left anymore, not even Frank. With Liddle confessing, he gave up.
