  • Ian Curtis life at stage with the song "Colony". just great!

  • Those who didn't liked this should kill themselves

    Ian Curtis was a visionary.

  • So damn powerful...watching JD live is such an uplifting experience!!

  • The REAL DEAL.

    Everything else is w*nk.

Anyone starting a band should look at this first. Then go away and do something else LOL.

  • wish ian recorded some acoustic versions of hhis song now that would be

  • Oops, just realised that info has already been posted. Nevermind.

  • sumner's industrial sound,

    hook's insane bass lines,

    morris' rhythmic drum beats,

and curtis' voice of a god

    Classic.

  • @Samoansk8r lol you're so right. This was the first group that I ever called Perfect but they just were man!

  • THE question is: what concert is this from and how can one access it? I believe that youtube has "Autosuggestion" from the same concert as well...

  • You've probably found this out in the 3 months since you asked, but it's from a gig they played in Eindhoven, 1980. I don't think it's ever been released on record, but the video is called 'Here Are the Young Men'. You can get 2nd hand copies from Amazon for £20.

  • @SapereRisin yes it does and auto is the best of the lot!

  • amazing.

  • Fucking intense.

  • Would have loved to seen them live.

  • Best JD song. Nothing else sounds like it.

  • This is so dark. Just the way i like it. Closer is one of my top ten albums ever.

  • it's so incredible, that music, that light, that voice...it's scaring and wonderful

  • It is, after all, the greatest track from CLOSER....in itself a monster.

  • This is one of my faves off Closer, nice post mate! I think its from "here are all the young men" vid. I have it on VHS, but not watched for ages cos no vid player anymore! I have posted the album version with some nice pics on it if anyone interested.

  • I *think* this version is from Eindhoven in 1980. It's on the live/interview CD 'Let The Movie Begin', and includes the very beginning and also the bit which the video cuts off after 2.24. This is my fave JD song, cos it's just so wild and totally out of control, more in tune with the original lyrics. The album version is good, but suffers from the inevitable slowdown. The bass on this version is also totally mighty. :)

  • yeah you are right man, i just heard a 30 second clip.

It is really hard to get hold of on mp3

can you upload this version of colony on youtube?

  • My favorite JD song.

  • If you've heard the original, I thought you'd know it's from 'Closer'?! Sorry, this is all I have.

  • Nah i was referring to this specific live version.

it just sounds awesome, more wild sounding then the original one on closer.

I found out this clip comes from 'Here Are The Young Men' whcih is a compilation of live gigs they did

  • I agree with the wild comment. This version is also faster than the original recording on Closer.

It is true what Sumner said; their studio albums could never capture their live energy.

  • This song is one of their best I think. I really do like Closer, better than their first in my opinion, more scope.

  • Sorry, I don't know.

  • ahh ok

it just sounds awesome, more wild sounding then the original.

    can you post full video?

is it on any of the albums?

  • where was this performed?

    Preston Warehouse?

  • Don't know why this was taken down earlier
