  • What are they eating?

  • How much footage do we need to see of Albina Deriugina having her old lady swim time in her bathing cap?

  • whats the song ;)

  • and yes, the state pays for the life of the girls..for everything! In Russia, in Ukraine.

The same happens in Vaganova academy of Saint Petersburg of ballet also.(the few good things that were left from CCCP) That is why they are so anxious to be chosen from so little age, because if you will be chosen your life will be ok, with hard work after that of course.

  • I believe this school is something similar to the Russian RG school where Viner is a coach. The young girls from all over the country are coming to theschool which has special dormitories for their acomodation

  • great song!!!!!

  • Where do the girls live, do they get

paid by the federation or the government

to train in this school and if so how much do they earn?

  • Why the water is hot?? Don't u see the temperature outside like super mega cold??? DUH!

  • what is that song playing in the video?

  • What were they doing in the water? It didn't look like anything... And why was the water so hot?

  • It will help with the healing of the muscles after being stretched and worked so hard.

  • can somebody tell me the name of ukraine gymnast?her first name was anastasia but I don´t remember her last name: ( it was something like "zhuvoka" or "zhukova"...

  • Do you mean Inna Zhukova? She's from Belarus.

  • I know her, but this girl was something like Anastasia Zhuvoka or Zhukova and she is from ukraine...

  • Yeah, te firs gymnast that you can see is: Anna Bessonova, is the best in the world. She's very Beautiful and very elegant gymnast

  • yes,her name is Anastasia Zhuvaka....

  • what they´re eating?

  • Baked potatoes. Lots of protein

  • They don't look happy about being watched while they eat....lol.

  • their condishning gym is so cool :)

  • even if the water is cold, the girl outside are wearing clothes for intense winter! why di they have to swim? i thinf someone should make a movie about the rg training

  • About the images of the pool, you don't need to worry at all. It's quite common to find pools with hot watter outdors in bathing resorts!! It's nice and relaxing! Look at their faces! I have done it myself and it was even snowing, you don't feel cool at all (the water temperature is 34º!). Just try it!

About the rest of the images, I think they are from a training camp, not their usual training.

  • Do they go to school or homeschool?

    -Hooby-

  • I wish I knew myself, but when I asked my gymnastics trainer (champion of europe and trained with irina viner) she said that after they came home from gymnastics they sat down and did their homework at night.

  • Thanks for replying! And how do they take exams?

    -Hooby-

  • Well, at school of course, and they probably study in oversplits.lol. But of course they go to school it's just they practice really late or get up early to do it before school. But my trainer from gymnastics said that first they got up early did gymnastics. Next they went to school. After that they'd go to gymnastics again. And finally they'd get home to do they're homework.

  • But some don't attend schools at all just like Anna Bessonova. Is this possible?

... especially for Russian gymnasts like Kapranova or Kabaeva?

    -Hooby-

  • Well, my gymnastics teacher has trained with viner which mean sof course she trained with kabaeva. She said that they attend school they just don't go to collage. But even the biggest stars went to school.

  • Please, can any of you tell me the life the RG gymnasts are spending in Deriugina School? Can you tell me all you know? If you only can, fellows. Thanks. =)

    -Hooby-

  • It's good to have good athletes unfortunately pushing these girls to work so hard and for so many hours is exploitation.I definitely think the state should understand education helps a nation progress and move forward and that has to be balanced with athletics.I think the state wants to use them so they get medals for them and remain poor and uneducated.

  • Yes, but you have to remember that Ukraine was once part of USSR. In some ways very little has changed-although now that this vast empire breaks itself apart sportspeople want to represent their own country now, instead of the USSR as a whole.

  • Thanks for responding me, ralucagymnast! I appreciated this. =D

    -Hooby-

  • It would be great if the U.S. paid the training of the American national rhythmic team or at least paid them to train, but I don't think that will ever happen.

  • Exactly:thats why the Soviets dominated everything sportswise up until 1991-1992. Theirs was an example that if you have a poor country, but marshall all its resources into one area(sport in this example)it works. In a country where hardly anything worked, sports worked!

  • How many hours do they train there? And if they go to a regular school during winter, do they have time to study? And of course the regular school won't belong to Deriugina school itsef, right?

    -Hooby-

  • The gymnasts(top ones like Bessanova and Godunko) will train about 8-9 hours a day. Which doesnt really leave much time for education. This is a problem; nothing is more important than an education.

  • How do these girls study if they are training all day?

Do they get bad grades and the coaches pass them? How

can they go to a university if they don't study enough? It seems this system doesn't value the importance

of education. You can't go far in life even if you are

full of medals if you are uneducated. No wonder why Ukraine is full of poor people and the economy is in such bad shape. The government doesn't care.

  • @ralucagymnast very true, but Bessonova her self said that she still graduated from a university. so did Kabaeva.

  • @tashajeffrey768 And Kanaeva.

  • Who pays for their food and all the expenses to train and live there? Seriously it can't be free? Is it?

  • The state pays for their training and education.

  • Who pays the traveling expenses to competitions? How often do they see their families and how long can they stay there?

  • Again, the state(government) pays for the training and education of promising gymnasts. I would imagine how often they see their families depends on how far the families live from the training centre; obviously those who live nearer see their kids more than those who live very far distances.

  • Do the girls go to school there or live in there?

Where the gymnasts swimmimg in real cold water or is

    it warm water? Anybody knows?

  • they goo to school there... i dont know if they have academics there, though.... and the water is probably warm, otherwise it would kill mrs. deriugina =] ( and also its steaming off the water) =]

  • I think they live in there, it is boarding school.

Of course they are swimming in warm water. There was an inscription: "вода=34" It means "water is 34 degrees" i.e. warm.

  • They don't live there. The Deriugina school is too small to have any housing. I learned this from a photographer who visited there twice.

  • Wow! really intense training
