HD likes roaches against zerg and protoss, but they aren't great against terran bio. It's a combination of the slow attack speed against large numbers of weaker units, the hard counter from marauders, and the terran ability to scan them wherever they burrow. Now if the terran goes for mech, then roaches are definitely worthwhile. They blow apart hellions, are decent against thors (especially in combination with speedlings), and can even be good against 1 or 2 seige tanks.

Yeah, I don't know why more players don't do this. Drones (and even hatcheries!) can go down FAST to dropship play, so I always like to leave a few spine crawlers behind my mineral line to discourage drops, and distract my opponent long enough to get my forces home without losing workers.

If my opponent is really persistent with drops, I also like to leave a few burrowed banelings in prime drop locations.

And impressive game by both parties, and informative. The terran was incredibly resorcefull, most players would't have been able to defend thier gold expansion and attack your various mineral lines like that. By far one of the best game's I've seen played.

HD is the bridge between the average players and the pros because he is both! I love these videos, they help a lot. He's so humble; He beats a rank 1 diamond player without mentioning it and he's always giving compliments to what his opponents are doing.

The problem of drop play later in the game is that the Terran can just shift click your Overlords and when he has like 25-40 marines he insta-kills all of them and suddenly you're supply block and with 12-16 less Banelings.

Infestor is a little more micro intensive but it's much safer imho. Having Ultras reduce a lot of the Marine focus into your Overlords so that works pretty well with drops.

You're an amazing player though, don't take this as criticism, just friendly advice Nice matches =]

Hey, either HD or someone else who knows, I know you probably see this question like 70 million times a day, but how does HD manage his larva spawns with all his queens on one hotkey and his hatches on the other? It's something like selecting the queens and then cycling through hatcheries with backspace and shift-clicking larva spawn on each one?

@AnzaBrush Ive answered this question a few times on this video already but here goes. The most efficent way to spawn with multiple queens on multiple hatches is to select whatever hotkey ur queens are then use the minimap to click each hatch since the closest queen will always inject, and the others wont do anything if the hatch already has larvae on it. I explained this much more precisely in my other comment but i cba to write it a 3rd time on the same video :) hope this helps.

if anyone can help me with this important question plz help :( i am a silver rank player, close to gold and i attempt to open up with several of the same openings as many diamond players and famous ones at that. In these videos i see people constantly taking their time and building up to whatever army size they need and almost always they grab an early expansion. BUT whenever i play, i generally lose to a 1 base whenever i early expand. No one ever plays against me like i see in these videos

Also a lot of pro builds require high apm and multitasking skills to be used effectively. Find builds that don't take much thought (e.g. 4gate) and modify their principles to include expanding as early as is safe. Safety is maintained by map control, scouting, and intimidating.

ultras are the WORST thing to go against tanks. They are the only unit that take are strong enough to take the full damage from it. The best unit is actually zerglings, because even though they are doing around 80 damage, a zergling can take max 35 damage. Just make sure you micro well and don't let the splash get you

(Maby try to make 8 marines, 1 medivac and 1 viking, Dropp marines to kill our drones or queen, use viking to take down ouverlords, so we cant make new units :) I got pwned by that. hey HD: have you tried minimap casting for spawn larva? That way you don't need to leave the battle to macro. You just hotkey all your queens on one hotkey (I use 6) and then hit v and click on each of your hatches on the minimap. It's very quick, and allows you to stay and micro.

@albusfr Hmmmm... I wonder why he keeps talking about how he has to go ignore battles and go back to his base to macro, then... and indeed his screen does move back to his based during battles sometimes, and often he spawns larva directly. Maybe he just hasn't gotten to the point of doing it
