@kane18O um, in star trek the redshirts tend to die. A lot. On the Enterprise, beaming down to a planet wearing a red shirt is pretty much a death sentence. (Unless you're Scotty.) x]

@kane18O Usually, the away team on a typical Star Trek episode would consist of Kirk, Spock, possibly McCoy, and some anonymous security officer, who would be clad in a red shirt, as Security & Engineering both use the red shirts. Said anonymous security officer, 9 times out of 10, wouldn't make it back to the Enterprise alive. It's the biggest "running joke" on TOS.

@kane18O on the origional series there are alot of things that happen over and over such as when ever the away team beams down to a planet its mostly kirk spock mcoy and 2 or 3 red shirt security guys and they all usually die fighting this creature on the sufrace below. another one is kirk (if in a fight) will get the front of his shirt ripped. one more is that they are always on a dangerous mission in uncharted space.like r they the only starship in the federation
