  • Bloody hell what memories...was there just gone to back (toilet..ha ha ) heard the start....hairs on arm !!!

  • does anyone know why there is a telephone by jonesy? this is not the first time i have seen a phone with his keyboards, but why?

  • led zeppelin is THE BEST ROCK N ROLL OF ALL TIMES

  • youtube.com/watch?v=C0FB0emfJAM&feature=related

  • Aug 4th is better

  • @gl8512

    agreed

  • good song,but..the end of zeppelin..greatest band ever!

  • A wretched performance, this is quite terrible.

  • Robert Plant actually lives near me,, And ive met him a few times,, Hes the best celebrity ive ever known, met him in local pubs, and also in car park at Wolves FC, matches,,,

  • JIMMY IS SO DOPE FILLED,INESTIZED WIHT THEM OPIATES,,,,THE ONLY ONE DRIPPING SWEAT,,ETC,,,

  • I've voted dislike just to burn up the cigar, on the little bar.

  • John Bonham is a fucking beast on drums.

  • @lionellogan as always....... RIP John Bonham

  • @tcbalz8605 ...always :)

  • EPIC EPIC EPIC

    FUCKING AMAZING

  • hey i wonder how many knebworth concerts are?? and which one is this?? because its different from the one i have on my led zeppelin dvd (2003) if anyone knows please let me know thanx

  • @chalitin11 Originally there was only to be one show but the demand for tickets was so great they added a second weekend. As we'd ordered multiple tickets in case we couldn't all get some we actually managed to go to both shows :-)

  • August 4th is much better he's out of tune here

  • eroin.

  • if everyone would read LZ When Giants Walked the Earth...jonesys GX-1, Pageys strat, their stage wardrobe, Gs demand for a million pounds for two shows in K worth are all revealed. this show had 110K tx sold...and only 40K came for part two (cold rainy day). this show's entire first set was plagued by shit sound mix. so anything from first set sounds like 4 high school kids squealing their way through LZ covers.

  • @Sharkattack48 Jones is on the right key,Page isn't(whammy bar)

  • @Sharkattack48 It's Page playing with that fuckin' whammy bar and going out of key!

  • damn page looks so fucked up, he is still the man, but damn how drugs really deteriorated him

  • 7:29 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBERT PLANT !!!

    no yet lol

  • Love Robert's face at 1:09

  • @swgurrl, yes as a matter of fact i am.

  • Am I the only one bugged by the patches that JPJ is using on the GX-1? Geez, 60,000 dollars (and that was in Carter era money) to get a string synth sound that makes the ARP/Solina String Ensemble sound like the George Szell era Cleveland Orchestra string section in comparison.

  • @Sharkattack48 yea, brother.

  • i am so fucking pissed off! How the FUCK can anyone down rate

THE BEST BAND IN HISTORY? ZEP RULEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

  • @GuitarRoast Because this is a shit performance.

  • @Matthew9444

funny thing! I once said the same thing 'bout your mom in bed!

  • @GuitarRoast Hahaha, that was so funny coming from a 12 year old. *pats head*

This performance is shit, compare this to the other concert or the 1980 concerts and you see how ridiculously bad this was.

  • @Matthew9444 i have to agree! i never saw such a bad performance from Led Zeppelin!

  • I was at this gig and this song was new to me - the middle section sounded beautiful floating towards us over the fields in the summer evening (sloppy playing or not) and I can still feel it now when I hear it now. Pure nostalgia.

  • @sludgefingers ; The quiet middle keyboards section was a nick from Windy City by the Sweet ... my fave song by LZ ...i was at week 2 (11th)

  • @nolslifegren That Pagey eh? Was no-one safe? Now Sweet must be added to the list of his victims. Seriously though, I've worked as a music arranger and transcriber and I've checked out Windy City. I like Sweet and it's a good song but personally I'm not hearing the nick, other than the fact that it's a quiet middle section in a rock song. Anyway, 32 years tomoro, I'll sit in the garden with a lager and reminisce, then throw the can and shout 'sit down'. Your turn next week.

  • @sludgefingers ; Lol ..til next week then : )

  • @sludgefingers U ARE LUCKY

  • Jimmy is fucking epic !! great to beat heroin addiction...he is frail here

  • Chuck's article wasn't negative, just read the last paragraph. All he's saying is that these guys were so good...that even a pretty average perfomance by zep on the downside of their peak, is still better than anybody can even think about doing today.

  • Chuck Klosterman's sharp negative critical write up on this concert and Led Zeppelin '79 was totally uncalled. The mass public hate of Zep by '79 was totally uncalled for. The Clash was trashing Zep in '79. Other group's were trashing Zep in '79. Where the fuck in those groups music today. Where are the fucktard mass public of '79's music today? You dont hear their music anymore today but you still hear Led Zeppelin's music from 1979 today.

  • @BBQFanNo1

LOL. Yeah, nobody listens to the Clash or Joy Division.

  • @spencerrich The Clash are still to this day one of the most popular bands in history.

  • @PBANDSNOW Someone obviously forgot to turn their sarcasm detector on.

  • @PBANDSNOW The Clash? No, of course they're not, when do you hear of them now?. For years they were one of the most written about bands ever by music journalists and the most talked about by people with access to the media. So for a while a lot of sheep bought their records. Led Zep, on the other hand, with no media support even in the pre-punk days, oustold them throughout even their 'big' period, let alone now, when they're forgotten, with no discernible influence on other bands. Fuck'em.

  • @sludgefingers I think you need to do a bit more homework...

  • @sludgefingers What...

  • @BBQFanNo1

The mystique around Led Zeppelin totally overlooks the fact that if you saw them 3 times, one show would be brilliant and the other two probably a shambles for one reason or another. Like going to see Deep Purple was always a crapshoot depending on what mood Blackmore was in, going to a Zeppeling gig you had to have faith that they wouldn't just mail it in or that Plant would actually go for the high notes or the sound would be crappy etc, etc

  • 1:14, epic!

  • Look at Jimmy Page. It's a miracle he survived his drug days. It's worrisome to watch.

  • jimmy hammers the shit out of that strat! great zeppelin track!

  • Wow, it's obvious they're all a little stoned up! But the song still passed and a treasured piece of footage.

  • Gotta love a man who can smoke a cig, while strumming a Les Paul...

  • @diamondsammy12 thats a fender not a les paul

  • @JR28951 I knew that, eventually, someone would nail me on that, but, being just a piano player, myself, I have to tell you that I call all guitars "Les Pauls" simply because I love that name... to me a Fender belongs on the front of a car... lol!!!

  • @diamondsammy12 ya thats alright man ya i more a les paul player myself

  • @diamondsammy12 so its ok if i go to a video with a piano player playing a schimmel piano and i call it yamaha or any other pianobrand?

  • @shadowofthenighthawk LOL!!! You can call it whatever the hell you want... I'd still know how to play it! : )

  • Robert Plant has such a raw, ballsy voice. You know it's him in a second.

  • are you high? anyone can play the timpani drum even you

  • @swgurrl are you high? the timpani is actually much harder then most people can understand. A timpani is a string tuned drum that changes depending on movement of the foot pedal. Grip and where you strike also changes tone, so a lot of people can't play them right.

  • Bonzo at his fucking best at the beginging with the Timpani

  • its wierd to see page playing a blue strat!!!!!! nice axe, but just wierd to see!!!!

  • @ozzyhead73 Lol I know right! Its a 1964 Fender Stratocaster (Lake Placid Blue) and first used 1979. Used on-stage for Over The Hills And Far Away on some dates at Earls Court and here in, In The Evening at Knebworth

  • John Bonham was one of a kind...

  • @zeppelin642 zeppelin was one of a kind

  • plant sounds like hes singing from the bottom of a trashcan a mile down the road

  • love the timpani, rip john bonham the best drummer ever !

  • This is the best live version I've ever heard of ITE.

  • i was a G,I. stationed in germany 79-81-this was OLYMPIC HALL in MUNICH -im JON HENERY BONHAM-I WAS also able to go see them in knebworth 79-the GREATsitting here with my ticket stub and i still get fricken goose bumps -last hurray for EST SHOW BAND OF ALL TIME--

  • is the beginning part of one of John Bonham's solos? cause that would be reeeally cool

  • @dredhead117 Nope, it's the timpanis in the beginning of the song. You can hear them in the studio version too. But he does use the timpanis in his solos.

  • My world got rocked in August of 1979. This album was released just as I started my junior year at a new school and In Through the Out Door takes me back to that time in a powerful way. This song in particular was my favorite, although All My Love ranks a close second. Thanks for the great association and memories, LZ.

  • the other 11 people the did not like it...can go to some other group and enjoy whatever they like.

  • fucking best

  • fucking best

  • 4:10 his hands are a blur they're playing so fast!

  • 3:05 love that high note

  • One of my Favorite Songs By Led-Zeppelin ^_^

  • in some onf the later zeppelin stuff roberts voice is so off, in this though... perfection!

  • @drnapis 2,you SUCK FAT DONKEY DICKS!You don't deserve to listen to the greatest band of all time, you attention whore!

  • @drnapls2 probably it Led Zep sucks the clitoris of your sister and mom... respect to the master, child!

  • @Oliveirex1 And your mother likes to take it up the ass from 300lb black dudes....LOL.

  • @drnapls2 YOU SUCK DONKEY DICKS,FAGOT!You don't deserve to listen to the greatest band of all time,Punk!

  • @drnapls2

You suck! Shut the fuck up and stop watching the greatest band of all time! You dont deserve it you a..hole!

  • I'm a bad bad girl...what I would'nt do with Jimmy :)

  • He has a hard enough time playing in tune on a Les Paul, why would he atempt playing a strat?

  • @stagnate100 he switched to a strat because that's what he played In The Evening with, he's just messin' around with the whammy bar

  • I don't care, if I could play as good as Page on heroin I would think I was awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • Robert is literally a God amongst men

  • Pagey rockin' a strat! A rare sight!

  • first time i ever seen Page with a strat except in pictures

  • my favorite song, I'm used to the studio version though, but since I was borned 13 years after this concert I wanted to live the experience, hahahaha

  • Jimmy's heroin addiction and He kills it ! h's a musical monster for ever cause we listen his music everyday..

  • Jimmy Page on a Strat? Now I HAVE seen everything!

  • @mario64guy Page mainly used a Strat on Houses of the Holy, Physical Graffiti, and In Through the Out Door, and the only reason he stopped using it is because he gave his favorite Strat to John Paul Jones after Zeppelin broke up.

  • @StainIessChina And Presence

  • @BleachTW No he actually only used a Les Paul on Presence, Guitar World did an article where they interviewed him and he told them all the guitars and amps he used on every Zeppelin album

  • In the Eeeeeveeeningggg...... ^^

  • I love blue strat

  • @bigdadycool6

To go with the shirt :D

  • Comment removed

  • I love JPJ's keyboard in the backround such a fun happy get up kinda feel...makes me immediatley happy when i put this on in my car

  • It wouldnt have been right for Zep to continue without Bonham. They did the right thing. My favorite Zep song too!!! Even now, I am not in favor of a Zep reunion with Jason. Robert, Page and JPJ are all old, and would just do an injustice to their legacy.

  • @resqfireman yeah but its really awesome the jason wants to carry on for his dad...i would do the same if bonham were my father...i would keep him alive with my drums and let the name live on!

  • Their greatest song. Maybe. Today I think it is.

  • @essertpitay hell yeah it is its my favorite

  • its so wierd to see page playing a BLUE FENDER STRAT!!!!!!! just doesnt seem right!!!! but sounds so GOOD!!!!! yeah page definitely could be sloppy but what matters is the outcome on the album!!!!!!! theres a lot of great bands that sound like absolute S@$# live!!!! i saw him with THE BLACK CROWES and he friggin sounded great!!!!!!!

  • I gotta say Bonham and JPJ are the stars of this show.

  • Should I play Civilization 5 or should I practice my guitar? I think this video made the decision for me. Thanks Mr. Vintage Music for turning me on.

  • They sounded great to me. Jimmy was with smack from about 76 to 84, so yeah, you're watching an addict play guitar, and I'd bet there was plenty of coke around for him, too. I;m not suggesting the next fool who likes to play music go out and try this, but Jimmy was driven by "the spirit" so to speak, and the spirit pulled him through. Bonzo and Jimmy were the sub-clique that used heavily and showed up late for rehearsals and Robert and John Paul who were focusing on their professionalism.

  • I was there in 79 ,... more than a few bands performed ...not totally straight !!!

Will remember it with fondness forever.....

  • @patrick88705 I was there aswell, .. i dont recall seeing you there.

  • bonham's single strokes are great

  • If your not going to offer praise or information and just diss Led Zeppelin why do you bother commenting?

  • pretty uninspired performance

but they're still the fucking zep

  • Work that Fucking tremlo bar !! The man is a guitar legend!!!!!!!!!

  • jimmy page is a GOD of rock n' roll

  • you can't deny Led Zeppelin's greatness over the years, but this is a sad performance. page is so strung out he can't play the notes or move. and plant just looks uncomfortable not his usual almost cocky stature.

  • @JubeProductions FUCK YOU HES AWESOME!!!!! DRUGS DONT HURT JIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY

  • @JubeProductions FUCK YOU HES AWESOME!!!!! DRUGS DONT HURT JIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY... no but really unless he shot up before the show his drug addiction shouldnt affect his playing.

  • @Xanth016 i'm not trying to offend you or anyone, or put jimmy down. i know jimmy page is one of the best guitarists there was. unfortunately every great performer has some bad performaces and this was one of them. obviously you must not be very well educated on drug abuse because if so you would know that being an addict effects everything in your life even if you are not "high" at the time. he is clearly strung out on heroin at this point in his life and it affected his ability to perform.

  • i almost cryed how sad this is... but they'll be always my heroes

  • love this song stra placid blue

  • AMAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZING...

  • I had to watch this one today because he says "HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBERT PLANT!"

  • @bushwasher116 "not yet one week"

  • @bushwasher116 That was a fun one.

    "HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBERT PLANT"

    -Not yet, 1 week.

Plant's conversations with the public are interesting.

  • Turn that nasty keyboard down for fucks sake!

  • JPJ's bass pedals need to be turned up or something, it sounds really empty

  • I think JPJ and Bohnham just get on with it and play off each other, page is in no condition to really react play off them, bonham is flawless as ever, plant doesn't look that interested

  • Maybe a bit out of tune, but they sound better than many bands that are tuned up..... Love ZEP!

  • Anyone critising this performance should watch the august 4th show apposed to this august 12th, it is much better and the In the evening performane is just superb.

It is also included on the 2003 Led Zeppelin dvd.

  • OMG!! Tune that Strat!!

  • Too bad Jimmy's wrecked from the heroin in this one :/

  • I was 2nd week ..in the middle between both lighting stacks ..at the end the stack on the right caused a tree to catch fire ..ah ...youth : )

  • People sayin Jimmy makes a lot of mistakes live, so did , and do, most bands, and one reason he makes mistakes here is cause he's using a strat, and he's used to a les paul.

  • @lefthandedguitar and his fucking high!

  • @MrMeddled

Yes I agree, Pagey is just gone on the H, and playing very badly , I cringe at his attempts to play lead guitar in tune here.He was always better in the studio anyway.

  • at 5.33 Page officially loses the plot on the guitar when the simple E D A chord progression can't be that hard to remember ...;-P Smack, it is one way to lose weight !!

  • Jimmy makes too many mistakes in live

  • The second gig was brilliant - never mind that they weren't playing to studio standard - it was a long hot day and we'd all had to run around a lot just so's we didn't accidentally listen to Chas & Dave ! (they were seriously uncool then - showing my age now I was a little (just a little!) upset when they broke up earlier this year!)

  • i just want to know one thing, how?

  • Simply the best. This double dvd set sounds unreal in DTS sound on a nice sytem..

  • @TheXXXShowdown so good it consumed a full year of my life in pretty much listening to only that alone

  • I love Jimmy's Fender Stratocaster Lake Placid Blue...

  • How does JPJ do bass and keys at the same time?

  • @JudeIceCool3000 The bass notes are on the key when you here keys. lol.

  • @jasonfinancier hear* rather....

  • "happy birthday robert plant" xD that was funny their concerts look fun although they are tired i wish i was there.

  • @Biotendo Tired? Lol.

  • In the evening when the day is done he needs his woman, but the girl don't come! Well he should stop by my house LOL! mmm mmm mmm I need his love, love Robert Plant sooo much, all that long hair and that voice drives me wild! oooo babe I need his love...............one of the sexiest men on this earth! Just got to ,just got to have love ♥ ♥ So don't you stop! ♥♥

  • You definitley were not there. The Knebworth shows were outside so not the day after christmas. They were august 4th and 11th.

  • I WENT TO THIS CONCERT! I think it was the day after christmas....

  • IMHO... Zep was past there prime hereand too many keyboards...

  • Time stopped this night.

  • @Kashmir0109 It seems to me that people who love this concert are people who have never heard zeps be

  • I would give my left tit to go back in time and see this concert! Jesus, they were talented!! (and hot! LOL)

  • everyone on this mother fucker who is talking shit about the mighty led zeppelin can eat shit and fucking die... greatest rock and roll band of all time... you stupid fucks

  • @ilikemyguitar1 very intelligent articulate yet missguided statement , please offer suggestion for greatest ..............?

  • @ilikemyguitar1 i hope you aren't referring to this concert as a representa
