Was thinking of this song just now (another played again & again on my lil record-player) Love "Bertha Butt Boogie, Troglodyte (CaveMan song), all that ! Didn't know he had passed away recently (1-17-12), till I saw this :( One of my favorite artists from the day....Rest in forever peace...
RIP JIMMY... this was the ultimate dancing song of the mid 1960's. You couldn't walk down a street in NYC without hearing it... and without catching the groove!
@avp0713; Whoa bruh, you said: Ringalevio & skellie (that's what we called it in Queens), during the mid to late 70's. Riding the Q-2 bus to Jamaica Ave to hang out. I remember Jamaica Ave. used to have TWO movie theaters across the street from one another: the RKO and the LOEWS theaters. Now THAT'S back in the day. (1976)
@kuriouslee: thanks for that info kuriouslee, I could not remember what the the Loews, nor the RKO; were formally called. Those were the days, what part of Queens were you from (during 1976)?
@kuriouslee, during that time (1976) I lived on 170th Street-went to I.S.8, off Merrick Blvd. I started HS in 1977, went to Cardozo in Bayside off the L.I.E. I remember when RKO and Loews would show Kung-Fu movies, and my friends and I would troop up there to watch. Great times. I hung around 223rd Street in Laurelton, near the A & P.
This just brings me right on back to the Bronx in 1969 (i think, IDK)... just walkin and playing in the gritty streets, ringalevio, scullys, unicycles, aurora racing cars... omg, and buying a damn slice of pizza for .20¢
@avp0713 Yeah, it had to be around that time. Used to be a slice of pizza was always the same as a subway token. We used to hang out playin' 45's on the portable box until 1 or 2 in the a.m. I remember that is when I first heard, Hey Leroy, your mama, she calling yuo man. I couldn't get enough!
oh shit i hat auroura slot cars- used 2 make them jump

@SoulSister66 I turned on youtube just to hear Troglodyte. I was a real party jam back in the early 70's. JImmy Castor had a style all his own.
