`bthottakkara' is right in his `first school of thought' but remember `anugaranam' is much easier than original creation.
It is easier for a talented singer to sing by listening & studying an existing song but original creation from scratch makes a great difference...!!As you know all singers are not music directors...!!and all music directors are not hit song creators too...!It sure is the merrit of nice kavitha, great composition & divine singing in the making of SWARNACHAMARAM song...!!
can't believe some one's written this is 'very close to the KJY version'. i'll be a monkey's uncle! bettet than P Leela's version, yes. for starters,in 'swarna', notice that 'samgathi' in 'na' when yesudas sings which,at best, becomes some sort of a gamakam when any body else sings including venu.easy to sing it this way.very subtle these things, but you'll notice it if you care.yesudas's 'hamsa thoolika' is out of this world(not 'thth'oolika).no offence to venugopal,he's good where he belongs
This song, I think has been rendered with full justice to the original. As someone noted, it is not tough for a talented singer to sing close to the original, which Venu does perfectly. The greatness of yesudas is not that no one can sing his songs to perfection, but no one singer can sing his entire RANGE of songs to perfection. As Venugopal himself noted in his interview "Dasettan is a genius born in the right place at the right time". and hamsa +thoolika = hamsaththoolika ( Aagamasandhi :)
our perceptions are different,i rest my case.but please listen to the original uploaded by SRN1000 one more time and to...words like 'swarna chaamaram' 'swarga seeema' 'harsha lolanaay' 'nithyavum ninte' 'hamsa' 'thoolika'' 'vannu poovidum' vannu chaarthikyum' 'prema sourabham' (oh boy isn't there premam in the voice..!!) 'raaga maalika'' nithya daaham' 'laalitham'.no need for the stress on thoolika. just think back how it was written in the malayalam books.hamsa thoolika, two words
This rendition puts a doubt in heart if we like the olden goldies mainly becoz great composer's merit alone, this rendition is very close to KJY version
he's struggling at the top even though this is sung at a lower scale than the original.
