Pretty incredible that he wrote this for a recital he was in while still in school. I believe he was 18 or 19 when he composed this.

Normally i'm not enthusiastic about either of these pinists separately, but together find the combination admirable & enjoyable.Starts off a bit slackly but the flow increases, building up superbly to final flourish and all the attention to detail is excellent. The Very original included an accelerating variation in double octaves, each player taking turn til one tripped up! Rach&Lhevinne enjoyed this party-piece together, Rach usually won!Variation at4.28 is one of most sublime, cd B dreamier!
