My father moved to Mozambique from Portugal in 1961. He was a laborer ( mason ) with the Africans together. He worked in most of the buildings in lourenco Marques as he himselfe is Marques. There was no favoritism in whites. My father Joao Marques de oliveira witnessed blacks falling to their death and they were respected as well as the whites. I see more problems now then before 1975. Don't include everyone as evil because not all have hate. Saudades meus irmaos
@Schoggodrops we possess both the houses and land because the land and resources used the built the Maputo (its no longer Lourenco Marques) were ours. and don't be fulled by history textbooks dear one virtual slavery (economic discrimination fueled by racism) is slavery.
@Schoggodrops yes its a city of duals, just like its culture. its people have struggled with poverty in every way and riches in every way...the city represents that very well. its unquestionable beauty is something to love.
e tinha un cinema ao lado onde iamos ver montes de filmes nessa igreja, saudade, xipamanine onde se via filmes indianos durante + de 3 horas, huuuuaaaaaa

Let them use their assets the way they want.

@horagerva,
sorry, but Lourenco Marques is the asset of the portuguese, not of the Blacks.
So they should give the city back to their owners! Yes, let the owners use their assets the way they want.

@Schoggodrops the land was ours first, and the manual labor too. sorry i don't think the Portuguese deserve it. just saying.

@frankyg21taylor,
its a difference between possess of land and possess of houses.
Before the portuguese arrived there, there was simply emptiness. No houses, no fields, just the bare and mainly unsettled nature.
The portuguese built their cities there, together with some african people, that opposed against the arabs and cooperated with them.
But the africans that worked there were not slaves, slavery was abolished since a long time. They recieved their money for their labour. Thats it.

@frankyg21taylor,
sorry, but Lourenco Marques was built in an unsettled area, so it belonged those who were the first settlers - the Portuguese.
A city called "Maputo" was never built.
"Economic discrimination fueled by racism"?
You mean, if blacks work for whites against money, because they get nothing managed by themselves, is slavery?
Thats is a lie.
This city belongs to the Portuguese! Lets give it back!
