Well I can tell you that a 2008 CBR 600RR is faster than the 2007 & the 2009 600RR!!! In 2008 Honda made nice, but subtle changes to the CBR600 & it is a beast! My '08 600RR is a fast machine! A lot of 1/4 mile races, especially on bikes depends on the rider providing the bike is in sound condition... That being said, the 2008 600RR will beat the older 900cc Hondas in the 1/4 mile! But beat a true Honda Repsol bike... Not happening!!!

@carbonrrpilot You might be right about that, but for me, there is nothing like raw power. I have friends with 750's and 600's and once we hit 150mph I just walk away. I know that isnt everything but that is one of the things I like about liter bikes.

@SpeakerBoxFunk the CBR from what ive read is a very balanced bike and the r6 is a temperamental beast- an incredible track tool but, depending on rider either bike can change its characteristics. Also consider Insurance costs, parts replacement, MPG & its range, and feel; go sit on both bikes. I like to compare 'price-to-performance ratio' it really helps out in you finding a deal and being very happy in the purchase- and in the long run too.

Clutch won't last long at all launching like that. If you listen closely he rode the clutch from 4 seconds till about 8. They both need some practice launching. Otherwise cool vid!

Technically how it works, yes big difference, but in terms of performance? No not really. the difference between a carb'd 2000 cbr6 and an injected 2001 cbr6 is less than 5bhp.
And more importantly, the 929 and the cbr600 in this video are both running PGM-FI, not carbs.

i am sorry i sold my 929 last year i know for a fact that a stock 929 will outrun a cbr 600 by alot i do mean alot now don't get me twisted honda 600 are not slow by no means honda has the fastest 600 series but on my 929 the only thing done to it was the sprocket and i outrun a gixxer 1000 with a bore kit and could outrun the hayabusa to 4th gear oh and also the guy driving the 929 is riding the clutch hard

@dseeley1 haha, you didn't outrun a Busa to 4th gear you retard! You'd need to turbo that 929 to do that. I run a 9.69@153 1/4 mile on my 09 Busa and that's topping at 3rd gear. You didn't run a faster 1/4 mile than that.

The 954 will obviously get you on the top-end speed further down the track. Even tho it's only the first part of the race from this clip, I'm pretty sure we all know how this ended.

i run liter bikes alot... i kill em off the line and it often takes the whole race to catch back up! (1/8 mi... they got no chance!)

i go out smashing san fransisco with some guys and my old 1990! gs 500! (two teeth down up front)
will keep up with the 600's and 650 twins till about 85/90 but man do i feel bad for my clutch
after 90 they just have 50% more power and fly past

Indeed, a bike with a decent carb setup will actually have better, smoother throttle response than FI!
FI is more efficient than a CV carb. A CV carb is more efficient than a flat slide carb.
However, a flatslide carb gives the best throttle response of all three, although the worst mileage.
