Yea people I guess are paying for refinement. Dude I love my 06 wrx. Last night I took a modded Mazdaspeed 6 till 70 mph he started walking me. Those things have run mid 13's bone stock LOL. My car is stock too besides suspension and wheels. Mazdaspeed 6's with bolt ons rape Evo's and Sti's LOL.
Did I tell you about my Mazdaspeed 6 race? They have a weak AWD system that automatically turns on when driving hard or loss of traction. I took him till 70 mph but he started walking me after that. They are a powerful turbo v6. Once I get stage 2 and a good tune though say hello to low 13's. When I get a turbo upgrade to go with that say hello to 12's. STI turbo can be had used for 400 bucks as well as intercooler!
Yea man it's purely preference. Like I said i'd rather pay a couple extra grand like I did for a 2.5l WRX and get alot more power. From a 20 roll I pulled on my buddies stage 1.5 ish 2.0l bug eye. The 06-07 WRX's are beast with the improved power band. I can keep up with a stock STI pretty well too because I have a 5 speed ; ).
Well in a recent comparison the GTI beat a WRX around the track by about 2 seconds. Yea the STI is a little more aggressively tuned and stiff on the suspension than a regular WRX. Mine is lowered but I meant stock for stock.
Yea it's mainly due to understeer I think. As to why the VW beat a stock WRX around the track. It also was the 08 WRX mind you. My 06 style had a nice Aluminum suspension set up and a more aggressive tuning stock, so i'm not sure how that would of done.
I'm not sure about the new one, but the 2004 R32 has a better road setup than the Evo and the STI. It was only a second behind the Evo and the STI in Top Gear's comparison they did and both of them have 60 horses on the VW, and not much extra weight. The Evo and the STI have suspensions better setup for a mix of dirt and road.
i cant belive that....ok depends on the track....if its a short track it could be....but a r32 is just slower. ive seen races were a r32 looses against a integra type r (dc5) on track.....

Japanese and korean cars are very nice in their own respect. They have a lot of quality for a low price, and usually have great reliability.
European cars are nice too...They make very nice low-displacement, multiple-cylinder engines. They're styling is unique, and they aren't cheap, but they are luxurious.
So really it's all a question of taste and needs.
EX: my dream car would be an SLK body, 7L American terminator V8, Japanese tuning and reliability. xD

Japanese and korean cars are very nice in their own respect. They have a lot of quality for a low price, and usually have great reliability.
European cars are nice too...They make very nice low-displacement, multiple-cylinder engines. They're styling is unique, and they aren't cheap, but they are luxurious.
So really it's all a question of taste and needs.
EX: my dream car would be an SLK body, 7L American terminator V8, Japanese tuning and reliability. xD

Thanks...People around here are too...I don't know how to say it. I guess they are too deeply set in a certain mindset and refuse to see the truth in the other side. the other day I got schooled by this guy who really liked 4 cyl and I understand how he's correct, but the way he kept dissing muscle and exotics was just wrong. IMHO, people need to realize that every car has it's advantages and disadvantages, and that each car has a unique purpose.

Oksy I don't agree with either of you...The GTR is awesome and so is the G37, rx7, and to SOME extent a FEW civics.
At the same time, that bullshit abotu japanese cars not having recalls is bullshit. Plus, not having recalls is a BAD thing. Recalls show that the manufacturer is willing to continuously improve products that they have already sold.
And VW is getting pretty good nowadays too....GTI looks sweet to me =P

I really HATE to disagree with you because I love VW's, but the Subaru isn't for hoody drug dealers. I know the Golf was the first sports hatchback but it doesn't have the racing heritage that the Subaru does. And it might have more class but in reality it is "people's car" and it's about as common as a WRX (at least in Europe).

It has a lot to do with torque and acceleration as well as the weight of the car...but im glad you can go on a website and look up the specs on these cars making youself believe that because one has more horsepower and AWD its going to win, fool.

And before anyone says it, i know modern diesels are fast and economical, but they also sound like shit and smell like arseholes. Diesel drivers really piss me off, always talking about economy and hogging the outside the lane because they think they own the road in their jumped up Transit van engined BMWs. I get 17mpg if i'm lucky and i don't give a damn as long as i'm not driving a stinking log burner
