well ive been rolling a TON of sushi (nigiri and cut rolls) lately, but tonight will be my first hand roll. since i dont have raw fish, i had poached a piece of salmon, and minced it up with a bit of cream cheese, mayo, soy sauce, lime juice, hot sauce, and garlic-chili paste. gonna roll it up with brown rice, avo, cucumber, and sprouts, should be DELIGHTFUL!

@ladyjojo2014  hard to describe it, my first time wasn't that pleasant maybe because i'm used to eating cooked/fried fish, the second time I got used to it quick and fell in love since. probably best try to dip a little bit of mixed light soy sauce with wasabi paste. common sushis are salmon , yellowtail (my favorite), etc... if you get one, don't forget to ask for smelt eggs on top of ur sushi especially california roll for starters; hope you enjoy it

@ladyjojo2014 buttery, smooth, chilled - really has very little taste if the raw fish is very fresh. It's the soy sauce that kind of wakens the flavors. If you get cooked sushi it mostly tastes like the sauce they put on it. You just have to try it to know. Go to a very good place for your first time with an experienced person.

Onigiri means the same thing, except its more less of a hand-shaped method, where as you are using a bamboo mat for temaki.

Many people don't know about hand rolls and how versatile they are. Making them at a sushi party with a few good friends is tons of fun I agree! Its not really a party more like 2 or 3 couples came over my house and my wife and I provided the ingredients and they brought the sake. We had a lot of fun even though I as the only white man was awful at making it haha (my wife is japanese and most of our friends are japanese and/or chinese). Oh well thats why we learn :)
