How does a bell housing just break without something hitting it? Even if thats what happen then the clutch and flywheel assembly shouldn't have went sliding down the road... Like I said the flywheel bolts backed out and then the clutch and flywheel assembly came off and obviously broke the bell housing... That seems a lot more realistic than the other way around...

think about it again. the transmission is feeling the ressitance [newtons law] of the car putting down 9 units of force [due to gearing], but the engine[specifically the flywheels] is only putting out one unit of force. the trans bell housing was only designed with the 2 units of force [the gearing and 1/4 engine power before engine mods that increased power to 1 unit] in mind with a maximum of 4 or 5 units of force design cap. going to 9 caused the failure, then the trans input shaft

input shaft was now supporting the trans and forces and axles and so on ... the input shaft is now pushing down on the flywheel and pilot bearing and clutch .... the flywheel to crank bolts were now not only dealing with a perpendicular force but a partly horizontal force in radial direction. --- snapping the flywheel bolts.

further evidence is that the problem occured, THEN, moments later , the clutch and flywheel assembly can be see falling out of the car.

@LLCoolPass If you go to 3:41 you can see where the flywheel put groves in the bellhousing. The car was at the top of third when the flywheel bolts snapped causing the flywheel to be held in place by only the input shaft of the tranns. This was too much force for the input shaft causing it to snap. Now you have about 25-30lbs of steal free spinning and bouncing around inside the bellhousing. Bellhousings are not made to take this kind of force, causing it to do just what rods do to blocks.
